Your videos should be much more popular!!!!! There are so many women that don’t know about this!!! I found out about this too late! I had already waxed, and shaved my facial hair, and it was stubbly all the time. People literally thought i was transgender because my hair was so bad like a beard. I’m happy to say it took me about 2 years but now i can do just 30 minute sessions once a month! It used to take multiple 2 hour sessions to clear all the hair 🙄 but we fought back and we’re winning :) Edit: i also used to get my light-up magnifying mirror and pluck each hair individually before i found out about electrolysis. It took me at LEAST 2 hours each time. sooo many ingrown hairs -.-

Hello, I have a question How long did it take for you to see results? I’ve been going to a thermolysis for 4 months, I had 5 sessions in total of 6 hours. I don’t have toooo many hair but I am a hairy girl on my face 😅 I have 5 hairs on my neck which my practitioner already treated 3 times. But they still come back :( My chin hairs also come back still black.. I feel like it didn’t help at all.. It takes time for the hair to come back (longer than usua but they still come back) is this normal? I don’t know if I should stop going because I spent so far 700 euros and it is way too much money to waste if it isn’t working :(

@@lyramalta7430u will need to spend at least a few thousand euros. Ive been told it takes 18months. Weekly sessions fof the 1st 2 or 3 months then sessions every 2 weeks and eventually they will be spread out every 3 weeks or so but yea need to comitt to 18months!

Sorry but I do have a question: hmm is it okay for me to keep shaving for now as a teenager with the few hairs on my chin since I can't afford to do electrolysis. And does plucking or shaving makes the hair grow more. Which is better even though it doesn't remove the hairs permanently

Your so lovely and pretty ❤ Im really struggling with the cons of electrolysis. The need to keep hair there for at least 2 days, the redness scaps and spots after, and now shes telling me not to shave in between yet its pretty hard booking in with her as shes booked in at least 2.5 weeks in advance. Its hard fitting in appts when you have to not leave the house for those 2 or 3 days you're growing the hair out lol and then another 3 or 4 days after treatment because of the swelling, lumps and bumps and redness and spots. I have a lot of other appointments and have to be on camera a lot so I'm worried how consistent i can be with it all. From your vids i learnt if you have pcos it isnt done and thats it either, and she told me shes got people coming to her for 17 years..it all seems a bit depressing 😢
@melisatesbel

It’s hard at the beginning of the journey, but once you start seeing results and the area becomes patchier, it becomes easier. Eventually your sessions will be more spread out as the hair becomes less. You will feel happier, confident and more comfortable! It will all be worth it in the end. The journey can take around 2 years on average give or take. With PCOS a maintenance session may be needed a couple times a year to treat like 3 new hairs that may grow. All in all, it will all be worth it!

Hi can you do a video about how you learnt or practiced electrolysis? I would love to learn but there are no courses in my area. Am I best to practice on my own legs? Any hints how I can practice once I get my machine? Thanks

Im still undergoing this. Comjng up to 2 yrs...but found someone who has a better technique , in April. So im hopeful i will start to see more permanent improvements . I do find it more painful though....think my pain threshold is lowering😢. Really struggled last appointment. Neck is so nippy
@melisatesbel

You can try numbing cream before the session to hell with pain! There are ways to manage the sensation of electrolysis i have a video on this if you would like yo watch it 😊
@tigerfeet2813

@melisatesbel thanks. Yes....I actually did apply LMX4 cream the 2nd last time....just to see if it helped...more out of curiosity, as I usually cope quite well. It definitely helped..put it on a good 45mins before the appt. Could still feel the heat, but it was more tolerable. Last time though I only had about 10mins to apply it , and it wasn't long enough. When I'm tired, I really find it harder to cope. I'm getting diathermy rather than blend. I find it more painful, but I found with blend( at previous practice), there was a lot more snapping snd tugging going on... With my new practitioner, using diathermy , I barely feel a single hair snap or come out. So it seems better.🤞🤞

@@tigerfeet2813 Oh yes definitely need to leave it on longer and it does make it more bearable especially when left on for 60mins leading up to the session. Not feeling the hair pluck is definitely important I’m so glad you mentioned that and are aware with how it should feel!

From an electrologist with over 45 years’ experience , your advice is spot on. Any hair removal below skin surface between treatments is a no no. Look out for pluckers, lol!! Yep, consultation very important.

I'm just 19 and I use to have around 4hairs growing on my chin, but then out of desperateness to get rid of them, I plucked and shaved, but then it kept coming out and I got tired of shaving because I was told it only worsen the situation. And now I have more than 10, it was countable before but not anymore and I'm scared. I don't even have enough money to check my blood type talk more of doing the electrolysis thing. I'm really scared and worried because I have been getting negative remark from the few people that have noticed them, even my friends find it irritating and it's freaking me out... I really don't want it.

Melis, you inspired me to take the step. But now I’m struggling with the idea of having to let the hair grow on my face before treatment. I mean, that’s my biggest fear; having people see it. That’s why I plucked it for so long…Do you have any advice for « daring » to let it grow? (If I make sense)
@melisatesbel
@melisatesbel 7 месяцев назад
Ahh yes this is fear that many people have. You have to remind yourself why you are doing this in the first place. It’s not going to be like this forever, if you manage 3-6 months without caring what others think or say, be patient and then once results start showing, it will become easier and less noticeable. I also found that it’s in our heads that everyone will notice but if you don’t tell them, they don’t all see it. Another thing that will help is that the hair doesn’t have to be super long for electrolysis! It’s only a few millimetres so it’s enough to grab with tweezers once destroyed. You are allowed to manage the hair in between sessions, only trimming, shaving or bleaching. I hope this helps!
@thehubatevergreen
@thehubatevergreen 5 месяцев назад
This is the hardest part for sure - you can shave the hairs mostly in between sessions and for the 3 days beforehand you can wear a covid mask beforehand if you feel really self conscious and if anyone asks you can just say you think you have a sore throat so are being considerate

Hi Melis, I did my chest too. Now little spots are dropped and my chest skin has redness. What should ı use for ıt? I'm using a cream has centella asiatica in it. Should ı use vitamin c? And yes you are right. I never touch my chin hair because it was so thin. After 2 treatment they are gone. Its been 4 months since ıt treated. I guess its becomes permanent.
@melisatesbel

Hey! Redness, spots, swelling is all normal and will heal in time. You can use either aloe vera, witch hazel gel or antiseptic cream 2 times a day until it heals. I have a video on aftercare which may help!

Everyone’s treatment plan is slightly different so it’s difficult for me to say without seeing you, having a consultation and keeping track with how your skin heals between sessions. This should be discussed with your electrolysis practitioner. Generally for facial hair it can be every 2 weeks if your skin has healed but as I said it varies from person to person

im a guy but my beard hair is so thick and dark that it leaves a shadow even after ive shaved so i want to remove it permanently to get rid of that shadow. first i looked into laser but read it wasent really permanent :/ 4:41 so how would that apply to a guy? will i also need touchups?
@melisatesbel
@melisatesbel 4 месяца назад
In your case, you can do a course of laser to remove the majority of the beard and then finish off with electrolysis

Is it a bad sign if hair regrowth was more gradual after the first few sessions but became faster later on? after the first few times that I had electrolysis, I never needed to trim between the sessions. But later on, I have found that the coarse hairs are returning at a much faster pace. Could this be a sign of hormonal issues? My blood work does not show anything.
@melisatesbel
@melisatesbel 8 месяцев назад
This can happen because of the hair growth cycle but will return to thinning out

Electrolysis does not increase hair growth, it decreases it
@user-be8hv7tl8e
@user-be8hv7tl8e 2 месяца назад
so men that will do electrolysis would need maintenance,since there hair growth is hormonal and somewhat similar to PCOS induced hair growth
@user-kr2ty9vk5n
@user-kr2ty9vk5n Месяц назад
Electrolysis permanently removes hair. The thing with PCOS is, you get more vellus hairs that become terminal if your hormones aren't balanced. I think most men shouldn't really have this issue because their hormones are stable, and thus all the hairs that would be terminal should be terminal by a certain age.
@c.2538
@c.2538 10 месяцев назад
Ok I don’t understand why having PCOS means hair won’t be permanently gone. Isn’t electrolysis on men permanent? Don’t they have higher concentrations of male hormones than a woman with PCOS?
@melisatesbel
@melisatesbel 10 месяцев назад
I’m no doctor but a woman with PCOS having abnormal amounts of testosterone (for a female) cannot be compared to a man. The hairs treated are permanently gone but new hairs grow out of other hair follicles that are stimulated. I hope that helps understand the difference between the two!
