I am a gastric bypass post-op patient who also happens to be a primary health care provider. After many years talking to and treating patients on their own weight loss surgery journeys, I decided to have surgery myself. On my channel I discuss my own challenges, successes and updates regarding the process.

I’m so glad your husband is doing well and at home again. My parents have a home care worker and my Dad has had nurses and physical therapy in the past. It’s such a blessing to have that care for them. I’m 6 months out and hit my first stall/slow week but I know it will pass. Take care!

Hang in there with the stall- this too shall pass :-) It is frustrating to not see that number on the scale move.

Kaki can you tell me what’s the name of Sox & everything else you use to prevent blood clots. My surgery is June 19 2024. Also I’d like to do a video blog of my journey. Any suggestions on how to begin?

Hi there! I did not use any compression socks for blood clot prevention- for me the key was walking, walking, walking! I walked when I was still in recovery a couple hours after surgery and the evening of my surgery once I was in a room. I got up every couple hours and walked, I think that is the biggest preventative that you can do. As far the video blog- just start! I did a pre-op video talking about my decisions and past, then one the night before. It does not have to be fancy. You will be so glad that you did!
