I took my practical in Glendale yesterday and I passed !!! Also I didn’t put my doll head into a tub, I just had her flat on the towel …and for my items to be disinfected I just had it labeled on a bag and not a container like the video. I had a lot of personal problems going on and I managed to memorize this in just a couple of days. So for whoever is out there, you can do it ! Just remember to BREATHE and don’t look at what other people are doing… just remember the steps you had practiced. You got this! Thank you for this video, it was such a great tool to use ❤️ it helped me pass ☺️

Congratulations!!! I have my test tomorrow, I have a question, for basic facial part how long do you take to finish the whole section? When it’s 12 min they remind us but idk how long is best like maybe 15,20min or whole 25min and also did you trash make up thingy on the chest or did you let it sit there like in the video? If you trash where did you throw? On the trash or item to be disinfected, sorry for too many questions

@@Yunbuchabayung I feel like you just have to be doing things efficiently but quick. you don’t have to worry about the time because they give you enough time to do it all… just be mindful when you’re on the massage part and don’t take too long to do it, make sure you do all the movements though. I didn’t pay attention to time really, I just tried to do everything quickly but correctly. Also, once you’re done with the eyelash enhancement they tell you your done and you can pack your stuff up … so it doesn’t really matter since you’re done with the exam. Took my state board test in Fairfield, CA today and I passed!!! If you need help remembering steps make index cards and just write it step by step. I honestly watched this video one time and bc I wrote out my steps I remembered what to do during the practical. Honestly, just sanitize the heck out of your hands lol. Sanitize before working on the client, sanitize when you throw something away ( I did this just to be sure that the proctor sees me sanitize without assuming I touched any part of the garbage), sanitize when you don’t know what to do and need to think for a quick second while reading the booklet in the test, just sanitize. lol. The booklet on the back table literally explains what you need to do in order, so if you get caught up in your nerves just go back to the booklet. For the waxing portion, when your proctor is doing one-on-ones with the other students and it is not your turn, repeat the steps you need to do in your head before the proctor comes to you. It’ll give you that much more confidence when they’re right next to you. Don’t watch the other people, you’ll psych yourself out. Just trust me on this one. Remember to rent your kit a little more than 24 hours before your test date just to be safe. Bring your own disinfecting wipes and place it in your rental kit. The rental kit did not provide wipes. If you have time before your practical, familiarize yourself w the items in the bags just so you know where everything is and you’re not looking at what is what during the test because that’s gonna take too long. Also bring your state board admissions letter OR the booklet they send you by mail a long with your proof of training document. If you do not have your admissions letter with you during check in, you can request to reprint your application letter. Just bring the booklet just in case too. Happy state board studying everyone let’s get it!! 🥳

Thank you for such great detailed info. And congratulations on passing your tests. A couple of questions...I noticed she didn't apply lip liner... so I guess no lip liner? Unless it's in the kit, I guess that indicates we do apply? I also noticed she didn't brush off the debris from the strip lashes, before applying them on. We were taught to do so. So, do we or not? I guess it won't matter. Doing so makes you look like you're being very mindful of your client? Please advice. Thank you💖🌹🙏🏻

Congratulations on passing!! What would you say is your area of expertise? I too tested in Fairfield today and unfortunately did not pass. Congratulations! I know what you mean lol my instructor taught all of her students a “routine” like boot camp! Which works for some people, but I don’t learn that way. @@alexandramarie6935 Yes, you will have your back bar area and your workstation table. The back bar area is spacious, about 4.5ft long and 3ft deep. The workstation(manicure table) is about 2.5ft tall and 12inch wide.

I took my test in Glendale today and I passed! I watched this video religiously! I went to another beauty school that was a hot mess and left me high and dry to figure out on my own. I practiced on my own and I had a different kit. I laid my doll on a towel. During my test , I dropped one the bottles from my sma and it landed on the floor. I remember from this video not to panic and just stop what I was doing and sanitize my hands , take a tissue grab the item and dispose of it in the correct manner and toss the tissue and sanitize my hands and continued. Thank you for making this video! I wish I did go to this beauty school because of this video!

Watched this video for 2 days in a row and was able to pass my practicals! ☺️ Thank you for posting this! A few things were different at my exam center, we didn’t have a back table 😩, so I had to squeeze everything on one table which made me nervous. So be prepared for the layout to not be exactly the same. We also had to demonstrate how to do an upper lip wax with hard wax from an actual wax pot which wasn’t in the video, but check with your local state office. Be sure to have enough gloves (I almost ran out lol). Word of advice - do not pay attention to what others are doing, trust yourself!

I took my on 12/13/2021 in Columbia SC. Everybody was saying to do something different but I decided to stick with this video and worked well. I passed! The only thing different is in SC they request the upper lip with real hard wax. Thank you so much for the video. Helped me a bunch!

I am so grateful for this video. I took my test today and i passed. GA state follows same protocol at the test shown in the video. There was no lashes application. My friend suggested me to watch this video and i followed everything. It was very intimidating i tried to stayed calm. Just remember to sanitize the hell out your hands.

Just took the state board practical for Alabama and passed. Watched this 3 times and studied in one day, passed with a 83! This video showed me exactly what was on the test. The only thing missing is the lip wax at the last portion of the test, which you need to bring real actual wax and warmer. Follow the steps of the brow wax. I had prior experience doing facial so everything made sense to me. What I remember messing up on was forgetting to hold eyes and lips sometimes and fixing myself. I also didn’t bring a real wax warmer. I am super grateful for this video!

Thank you so much for creating this video! I have been out of school for 10 years and just passed my practical exam (to renew my license) yesterday at the Glendale location using this exact method!! I did not use the doll head in the tub, i just ordered one of the flat doll heads from amazon and drew on my own eyebrows. I took the practical and written exam on 10/20 in Glendale. I will say that the written part of the exam was completely different than I expected, the questions were different from what I studied. I purchased the NIC practice exam 3 separate times to prepare myself for the real exam and I did really good with those practice exams so I thought I would be fine for the real written exam. When I took the written all the questions were much more difficult so if this is something you need to work on; practice more! And for the practical exam it was much more easier than I thought. I watched this video MANY many times and even several times a day. I was able to memorize each step without actually being hands on practicing. I will say that the instructors are very serious and at times seemed rude. Just do the best you can and be confident and consistent and you will be fine. I passed both of my exams and it was a huge relief! Please don’t hesitate to ask questions if you need advice, tips, etc.

For practical, I highly recommend to hand sanitize your hands for everything! I also recommend to get a hand sanitizer that dries off quickly. I was having a hard time opening bags from universal supplies with my wet hands from the hand sanitizer. I noticed that the instructor noticed and I was getting super nervous. I opened them with a tissue and it wasn’t a problem because I passed. But to avoid that I recommend bags that open easily like those with a “zipper” and a hand sanitizer that dries off fast!

@@taylormccormick9827 Yes! It’s exactly the same, but the back bar where you put your universal supplies, that is attached to the wall. It’s not a table it’s kind of like those barber looking type of stations and that’s where you will put your universal supplies. In front of you you have the little table where you will put the doll head and Drape her and perform each service. It is a small table in front of you, so you can set up your SMA on the back bar, there’s plenty of space. So you would have your universal supplies all the way to the left and then put your SMA obviously on a towel directly next to it. That’s how I had mine and I passed. As long as you remember to sanitize whenever you’re reaching into things that are considered contaminated, you should be A okay! 🤍 also, I didn’t have my doll the same way she does on the little container. Some girls did and that’s totally OK, but I learned a different way and I felt more comfortable just placing her on top of the towel and draping her, I did use a shower cap to drape her head. Hope this helps!

I passed my practical in Fairfield yesterday! I watched a few different videos to help me study. This one was most comforting lol I was so worried about packing my bag correctly because I didn’t want to have anything that would be considered “coaching”.. But, I used the NIC booklet for clues. It gives you suggestions on items/supplies to put into each setup. My worry was where to put my single use/cotton supplies! I packed all of my tissues/cotton into the universal supply baggie. If the NIC didn’t suggest those items for that particular service, I packed them in the universal supply bag..then pulled them out during my setup. For the services that had single use supplies as “suggestions”, I packed it into the client setup/service bag. Hope that makes sense 😆 Study tip: practice the exam from both sides, meaning: as if the setup is on your right. And set up to your left. That way you’ll be comfortable no matter what side of the room you’ll be performing on ❤️ I hope this helps someone! I searched for answers everywhere and didn’t find them. I ended up using my intuition. Good luck everyone! 💜🙌🏼 ⭐️ ps I feel like someone should make a tutorial on how to properly pack your state board practical bag, if you’re not renting.

I just took my test in Fairfield, CA using this method & I passed!! I used two paper bags for soiled linens & trash and a container for the items to be disinfected & I didn’t have my doll inside a container as shown in the video. I had the doll flat down with two towels. One for décolleté, and one under the doll. No, you don’t have to wear gloves throughout the whole exam. Just certain parts :)

Congratulations!! 🎊🍾 I go tomorrow to Fairfield to take my exam! I’m so nervous. Did you pack your bag exactly like this? Or did you just have universal supplies and grabbed from there? The kit that I bought has all the universal supplies together and then all of client 1 in one bag and client 2 in another bag and all the towel in two separate bags… so I’m confused if we can just grab from the universal supplies every time. Or use a cheat code that has the set supplies needed with the clients 1-2

@@jennifercarter7724 Hi! Draw only eyebrows on your maniquin. Go over this a few times and write it all out because it’ll help you remember it better. Get the app for esthetician practice tests in the App Store and download quizlet as well. There was a lot of questions about medical contradictions and layers of the skin, and skin conditions. Don’t wear anything with the name of your school on it and don’t forget to bring your ID and don’t take anything except car keys, kit, and ID. Keep calm and follow instructions - you got this!

No not for me, but you could just have a universal supplies bag. Also if you are testing in Glendale, the set up is not like this one, the esthetics board training set up is a lot more similar, also your trash, items to be disinfected and soiled liens bin go under your back bar, I didn’t put a bin with a lid, on top of my back bar for items to be disinfected.

This is the most professional presentation I have seen so far. During Covid, lockdowns, shut downs and life tragedies in 2020 I somehow missed renewing my aesthetic license. I have been a practicing licensed aesthetician for 21 years, I have never been late on renewing my license. Being unaware of the fact that it had expired, I was shocked when I received an email that my license was canceled. Now I’m preparing to go back to state board and take both my practical and written to reinstate my license. Your video has been a tremendous help to me! Hi I have a couple more questions please(: Do i place mannequin and linens directly on table if I don't want to do a bin? For mask can it be in a round container and not a flip top like all the bottles On makeup products do we have to physically label them or is the label on them ok Like can i have foundation in the original container not like her video Can I put tissues in Ziploc bag like her video or do I need a new tissue box? If at any point i forget anything from my kit is it okay to go in as long as I sanitize? Client #1 Sometimes she removed products with tissue mittens others with cotton rounds can i just remove everything with cotton rounds? To not get confused For makeup she has a mixing metal pallet. I have one of those painting/ art 🎨 mini pallets. Can i use that?

Hi again, sorry I’m confused, When you take the garbage bag out to throw your wipe and gloves away in at the very beginning, did you zip up the bag and then unzip to go back in and get gloves and wipes? At the very beginning, can’t I take my three bags out, grab the sanitizer, place on table, sanitize hands, then go in and get gloves and wipe down the tables or no? Is that too long with the bag unzipped? Does anyone know? Can you not put anything on the tables until you wipe them down, or can I put bags on table and then wipe them off?

Hi! Is this how the practical exam is conducted in NorCal? I noticed that your client 2 was still in your bag. We’re taught differently here in SoCal. We’re supposed to empty our bag and place everything on the back bar. Also, we don’t need to rent a bag and kit since all those are supplied to us when we started school which was included in our tuition. I love everything how it’s done step by step but I just want to do what’s supposed to be done at Glendale California.

Hello. We are located in Southern California (Upland, Riverside, Corona, Redlands, West Covina, and Fontana). Every teacher teaches the practical a little differently from one another. We recommend doing whatever your instructor has said to you. Our instructors are teaching our students to replicate the steps recommended to us by state officials. The kit our students are provided is from the kit company in Glendale. Our students are given a kit voucher as part of their tuition.

Hi, I don't know the answer about the steps being next to you. If they are, the lady in the video says not to touch that paper. So, I'm a bit confused about that too. About your date...I don't know in which state you're in, nor do I know of it matters, but you should have received a light beige or light yellow looking booklet from PSI. On the back side of that booklet, on a address label sticker tells you the date and the time of "both" of your tests, along with the location. They also sent me a letter, from BarberCosmo that tells me where, time and check in is for my practical exam. I hope this helps. Good luck. 😊 🙏🏻🌹💖

Did you take it again yet? I have been out of school for 21 yrs, and accidentally missed my renewal by four days. I was so stressed and nervous. This video will help you pass. Get someone to to practice with you.. Download the CIB bulletin and have a friend read as the proctor would. There are a number of videos that show how to pack the kit. Or you can purchase from the California Supreme Kit company. The bulletin also tells you what to pack. Good luck on your exam if you have not taken the second one.

Hey ladies! I’m hoping someone can help. I graduated in 2020 and I’m taking my test in august. I’m not familiar with any changes that took place as of July. I tried going to salon centric for the proper wipes but I can’t find those anywhere. The video is so so different from what I was taught. If anyone graduated and knows the new protocols please provide any helpful info possible. Thanks in advance!!!

Hey! I graduated in 2020 also! I feel like this video is very updated and close tho what I was taught at my school! idk if you heard of jazz-z-beauty but you can buy an examination kit that includes everything! Highly recommend

I used the tacky glue I bought from Dollar Tree and transferred it to a smaller jar, and labeled it as simulated soft wax. I find it to work better than using vaseline, in terms of application and absorption to the waxing strip.

has anyone rented the kit or have advice on putting a kit together yourself? i’m coming from out of state to take the exam and truthfully there’s not a lot of helpful info for out of state applicants online. i already have my license in my state and it’s frustrating to have to retake the exam when it’s totally different and with not a lot of resources to work with!

I have my test on OCT 25th. I went to Bellus Poway and I just received the new July 2021 State board bag set up packet this week. And according to Bellus it’s what all there students use to go to state board

Does the soiled linen bag now have to go in a laundry bag? I always did this in a lined paper trash bag that was labeled. Does anyone know?

My school is still teaching us to do 3 labels trash bags. Soiled lines, items to be d isinfected, and Trash.

it doesn’t have to be exactly like it. you can use a trash bag or container for the soiled linens just as long as it’s labeled.

Hi there! I just took my exam in Glendale and received -2 points on every section despite having reviewed and followed exactly this video countless times. I wanted to know if you think it was because I did not have my products on the "Back Bar" where there was more room? The manicure table provided was very small, but I had placed all my products on it (next to my mannequin head) for services as instructed in the video. Could you offer me some guidance around this? Thank you!

Did you have your universal supplies in separate bags and are put them on your back bar? If you have your cotton balls/pads in the same bag prepared for each client bag and module, they see it as cheating/coaching. You must know when to grab your gloves, cotton balls, sponges, etc from the back bar.

I am so sorry that happened to you!! It’s so hard to say why they did that.. I actually used my manicure table strictly for the doll head. And kept my products on the vanity/back bar. Do you have to apply for re-exam??

I set up on manicuring table as well, and I think they don’t like that. My classmates that passed put SMA On back bar and all supplies. Also put trash and soiled linens under counter. Can we put cotton, sponges on manicuring table?
