The community in Uvalde, Texas, is in mourning following the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School that killed 19 children and two adults. This weekend, President Biden and first lady Jill Biden visited the town to pay their respects and offer comfort to the families of the victims. CBS News correspondent Lilia Luciano joined CBS News' Lana Zak from Uvalde.

Parents with guns were trying to go into school to take down the shooter themselves, yet the police stopped them, and waited outside the classroom for half an hour. People were arrested because they were freaking out over their kids. The problem is the police, we do not need to take guns out of the hands of parents just so we can put them in the hands of incompetent police.

How would banning guns work? Criminals already get their guns illegally so all your doing is taking guns away from the citizens. Australia banned guns and they saw no difference in the decline of gun crime. The UK also did the same and gun crime spiked and fell at a identical rate before the ban. It’s almost as if criminals don’t give their firearms back to the government.

They did not respond in time when they are trained to respond immediately one cop or any amount to stop a shooter in a situation like this. If the police are too scared to take down an 18 year old with a gun then why are citizens allowed to have guns.

I have been following these Mass school shootings for a long time now, and I have noticed something interesting. Every time it happens, there is massive attention paid to the victims of the shooter, To the Gory details of the event, but one thing seems to always be left out. Nobody talks about the shooter themselves except in the most superficial way. Doesn't anybody think that the persons that instigated these horrible events, is worth some serious study to find out what motivated them? I'm sick of hearing them just brushed off as crazed lunatics. Very few of them actually survived the event. Wouldn't it be worth while to find them, talk to them, and find out what motivated them to do it? You don't cure a disease just by studying the victims. You need to study the disease.

the root of the problem is the entertainment industry with the violent video gaming and movies that giving these young people these bad ideas also a darnel defense AR 15 is one of the most expensive assault rife on the market the cost of just one is 2000$ plus that means the 18 year old spent around 6000$ between the two guns and body armer and ammunition where dose a 18 year old get that kind of money or better yet who did he get the from ?

Bullets are not protected under the 2nd Amendment. Nowhere in the 2nd Amendment does the word bullet appear. It's not even mentioned directly or indirectly!!! All we do is make it a crime to own, possess, purchase, or manufacture a bullet. Make violation of this law punishable by 5 years in prison for the 1st offense, and add another 5 years for every violation thereafter!!!

as long as the 2nd Amendment is still there... this mass shooting will be happening in every single year, every single month.. that's for sure. 2nd Amendment gives American to own guns.. with guns in your hand, naturally the bullets will come in after that.. even you have thousand of stricter gun control laws, people will get bullets because those eligible to get them will distribute. If not, there are thousands of ways to get them. American seems always try so hard to tweak the gun laws to make them harder to get these guns but all those gun laws are obviously ineffective AT ALL. i would say all are nonsense. To eradicate this kind of mass shooting from happening again, 2nd Amendment MUST BE REMOVED. No point talking about existing gun laws... how many decades that USA has tried to tweak them.. it just does not work. It is out of control since many years ago. It has not just happened yesterday, the mass killing has been there for ages. If USA wants to save the gun industry, well, they have to sacrifice these human life for the sake of economy. That's how powerful the gun industry, the gun lobbyist... even all teenagers marched before to end this, but the gun prevails..
