In this tutorial you will learn how transfer assets from Quixel Megascans to an offline renderer such as V-Ray. We will use Quixel Bridge to explore the Megascans asset library. After installing the dedicated plugin we can then transfer all geometry data and all included maps into our 3d software of choice.
We will make sure that the geometry data loads correctly and then explore ways how to add all the scanned detail by using either normalmaps or displacement maps. Afterwards we will build a simple shading network in 3ds Max and V-Ray where we will connect all the scanned maps on the right positions and then finalize our asset.
I am using 3ds Max and V-Ray 5 in this demo but you can also use the same techniques for older versions such as V-Ray NEXT and V-Ray 3.
A similar workflow can also be used in other software such as Cinema4d, Maya, Blender and different kind of render engine such as Corona, Octane, Redshift, Arnold, Cycles, CyclesX, Eevee and countless others.
