In this pilot video (which was supposed to be released on Wednesday) we rescue an early Vauxhall Corsa B that has been off the road for 15 years. Will it move? This is just a taster of (hopefully) many more retro rescues to come!
Your a braver man than me, I run a mile at even the hint of rust, how this thing is even holding together is a marvel. I am sure it will be a battle to turn this one around, I look forward to seeing how you approach this. I think we will get a few enjoyable vids out of this before this thing finally meets its ultimate fate.
That would have gone straight back oin the trailer to the local scrappy for me. If you decide to go ahead you are brave and I have no doubt your skills will be enough. All the power to ya Stevo
Christ Steve, that one has seen better days, with that amount of rust I wouldn't even consider it, looking forward to the next part though it lol, great vid mate.
Nice to see an early one, pre facelift. I am big fan of the Corsa B and own a K plate one myself. Don't often get to see other ones underneath and that is quite the impressive brown flakes down there. I'll be very interested to see where this goes! It is a very low spec Merit model but I love the base models too!
So used to seeing the yellow Viva in the thumbnails, I actually missed this last week! Whatever floats your boat, that's what I say. No one thought cars like these would be classics, but everything gets its time. We have a an early Ford Ka tucked away. It'll never be a MK1 Escort, but who knows...😊
Corsa vid was supposed to be an extra vid mate, but I don't have the time to make 2 vids in one week at the minute, I tried to tho. New viva vid on today 👍
Love a corsa b! But that is some serious metal fabrication needed to save it. I would love to see it saved, but I'm on the fence about it actually being worth it. I'm looking forward to seeing how brave you are feeling when you make your decision 😊.
Alreet mate 👍 aye that's spot on with the Corsa A badged as Nova here, Opel in Europe. I'd find a good Nova shell and bung all the mechanical bits on it.... long as its not a 3 potter 🤔 was a nice Corsa A GT in WB and Sons at Killingworth yesterday, didn't see what it went for though!! 👍
Good lord, the Titanic has less rust, assuming it must have been on the coast or even rescued from the sea itself.. parts I suppose. I agree it’ll definitely be entertaining!
LOL you left more than half that car behind on the drive way needing swept up - cant wait to see what happens next - I think thats been a corsa way too long
That's a shame to look at the car without my glasses on it looked ok until you left half the underneath on the floor. Good luck with the new mission 👍👍
I don't envy you guys and your salted roads one bit. That thing is munted! But....not only did I have a Viva here in Oz in it's Torana form, I also had one of these Corsas as a Holden Barina. I'm in! And good luck with it 👍
What a B-E-A-UTY 2dr hatch 🐣 manual!❤ a bit of rust, ain’t nothing haha Turn it into a rowdy little track car 😂 be interesting to see what happens with it 🍅💥😆
Those tyres 🛞 are literally “flat spots” could see poor thing losing weight when you had to whack the rear drums , be interesting to see it’s progress 😅
I tried to buy this a couple years ago, could see it was totally rotten but could’ve been useful for parts. The bloke didn’t want to part with it at the time
Crikey, you sure are a glutton for punishment,I wouldnt go poking around too much or you will end up with a pile of rust and nothing else, good luck with the Corsa,it will be interesting to see what you do with it. Great video again, always entertaining.
Corsa....bloody hell Steve you'll be buying a troop shell suit next lol I think i'd have left that bugger where it was there's no structural integrity left in it once the chassis is fucked.
Hello Steve,I passed my test in one of these back in the day but a four door one 😂,it needs a bit of work but great to see the progress on it if you are restoring the car.
Enjoy your videos on Sundays and the new project corsa is only for parts am afraid mate so ur a busy man hope ur not paid to much and get shot of it and by a nother project car.. But regardless I'll be watching your channel 👍
One of the few times I have seen tyres have flats even after pumping up 😂, I bet your Mrs is well impressed 🤓, 2 words ? RUST & BUCKET 😉, you definitely like a challenge and I honestly hope the car was FREE 😂 because it gonna cost ya to scrap it ☹️ way too far gone and the grim reaper is waiting in the driveway lol 😂.
🤣 It was a fun challenge just getting her to roll. Not losing any money on her mate and as long as I can get a few entertaining vids out of it I will be happy! 😀
Love the Corsa B's. Flame Red Vauxhall paint will come up well with a good polish/mop. "Nicks Garageuk" youtuber is just finishing his little project one off. (Was in better condition to start with.)
Strip it & sell the parts, bud. I wouldn't try & save it to be honest. I built my old mk3 XE mini with 90% new heritage panels. Was left with the original roof & both bulkheads... it ended up more expensive than buying a new shell. Live & learn, I suppose!! Cheers. Leigh.
I'm not losing any money on it mate and won't be investing a huge amount of time but if I can get a couple of entertaining videos out of it that will do me! 😀
My Dad had a brand new 'M' registered Corsa van back in 1994, all I remember was it felt so modern compared to his old Fiesta van and it had an airbag too....
Last time i saw a car that rusty was my 1988 mini 1000 I bought in 1994 . It had rotted from the front backwards . Rather Than the normal rear subframe and box section first The woman that I bought it from lived on the seafront up near Whitley bay and reversed it into her driveway then into a car port . Back was sheltered front wasnt.. I reckon this corsa was a coastal car from new too . Great content though. Maybe some parts for your viva on it .. the odd fuse . Bulb, front seat fag lighter .🤭 (Edited for spelling )
I am all for saving classics.. including modern classics.. Now, alot would say "scrap it".. but i say save it.. When was the last time you seen a Mk1 corsa?.. especially in basic Merit spec.. Every Learner school had one, especially BSM.. i learnt to drive and passed my test in a corsa. And being a blue oval fan through and through, even i would save that.. Restore it, slap some BSM logos on it and stick it on the show circuit..
Same here mate, I'm struggling for space at the minute, so not much room for a full on restoration, wich I would love to do further down the line on the channel, but I agree classic or retro they all need saving👍
@RetroRebuild same problem here.. got a garage but its not big enough to work on both my cars..especially with my tool boxes, benches etc inside too.. but thankfully thats changing as im now in the process of having a much bigger garage built.. i look forward to watching more vids and keep up the good work on the viva..
Sorry to have to say that whatever you paid was a pound too much! Get in touch with Autoalex, he likes to buy shite! 😂😂 . Somehow I think this might be a project too far, but love your enthusiasm and dedication to old Vauxhall's, I'd stick with the Viva! 👍👏👏
Do you work at Tetleys, stitching the holes in the teabags?!? Seriously, brave man, that looks like a load pf pain in store - incidentally, they look like Cavalier LX alloys to me?
Haha your brave. Best thing to do is insure it, paint the full car with rust remover, then report it stolen. Take the catalytic converter out, if your lucky it might be worth a few quid. Good luck
Morning Steve , by ‘eck mate that’s a crusty un..! The Viva is around 21 years older but definitely more solid ..what’s the plans with it, full resto, lowered and a red top ..? 😃 Great video as always, looking forward to next weeks 👍🏻❤️
MOT history shows it was a rotbox 17 years ago - you know there's a problem when whacking the brake drum causes bits to fall off the sill! A breaker - low mileage should yield good spares. Bit risky going underneath it in such a confined space. Mate's neighbour had a P reg purple Corsa outside his house until very recently - wouldn't accept that it was becoming a collectable car since it hadn't been Maxpowered/tarted up with a body kit, etc.
Yeah I checked, it had some welding done near the suspension mounts in the past. Crazy how rusty it is! Yeah they are starting to become collectable, give it a few more years! 👍
Shame, but strictly spares NOT repair for the Corsa. Harvest any good parts for when you find another one, which I am sure you will. Leaving plenty of time for the Viva in the meantime!
I'd say M reg is pushing it for "early". Although K, L and M reg were all available with a 4-speed manual gearbox on the 1.2, so yeah, late into "early" I guess. Also it's a 3-door as the hatch is counted as a third door.
I am thinking it is cream cracked, I had to watch your video twice the first time I had my eye closed when you were pocking around under the car. it looks like you left haft the car behind on that drive. Looking on the bright side there is enough videoing for the next 10 years.
Come on be honest you only bought it as you like poking holes in things with a screwdriver 😂, that's really rough. I have a 1996 Corsa b with 122k on it and it's mint, only had a patch on the seal. Do you live by the sea?
