Do not watch this. It is worse than Rings of Power or Witcher: Blood Hunt or Willow or any number of modern remakes. The few reviewers that I watch that have seen even two episodes say the show makes them "physically ill". It's got a lot in common with She Hulk: no plot, no real jokes, no characters. It is an empty husk that exists as a vanity project for creatively bankrupt and talentless people who live on social media. Do not subject yourself to this. It's not worth it.

How long is it going to take for writers to understand people don’t like being insulted? I’m so tired of this trend where a film or show tries to look self aware by having some character point out whatever common trope is going on and/or making fun of the target audience who like said trope, all delivered with the subtlety and grace of a car crash. It just doesn’t work when it oozes with insecurity.
@lordmontymord8701
@lordmontymord8701 Год назад
Hey you don't have to feel insulted if you share the writers/producers opinion 😁 ... their problem is that there aren't enough people who share exactly their views. But that's of course the viewers fault and not theirs ...
@stopreadingthisusername9528
You don’t have to agree with someone’s point of view to be able to appreciate and enjoy their work. There’s also nothing wrong with some good satire, the original Scooby Doo series is filled with self parody. It’s laughing with you, not laughing at you. When done well, satire can be fun and endearing. If it’s meant to be taken seriously, an author can use these moments of self reflection and deconstruction to make changes that will improve their stories. The problem is when it’s done poorly, it’s neither funny or smart. Even die hard Marvel fans have started to get tired of how often the movies promise to do something different, but just end up being the same formulae with a couple of meta jokes thrown around that serve no purpose and disrupt the story’s pacing.

He was never canonically a stoner or anything, but that was the underlying implication left for the adults. The 'I hate drugs' is just an example of how limited the 'humor' for these shows are. @michaelstrong5383
@michaelstrong5383 Год назад
Everyone thinks Shaggy is a stoner because he eats all the time. Considering how this show doesn't understand who the Mystery Inc gang is, I'm going to assume this version of Shaggy (or ""Norville"") doesn't eat a whole lot, which makes the "I don't take drugs" line more unnecessary than it was in the first place.
@DoctorInk20
@DoctorInk20 Год назад
Most of the Mystery, Inc. Gang were chiefly modelled on characters from an early 1960s sitcom called _The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis._ Shaggy himself was specifically based on Maynard G. Krebbs (Bob Denver), a clueless beatnik with off-beat habits who would more or less morph into what we'd call a "proto-hippie". So while he wasn't strictly _intended_ to be a "stoner", per se, he was at least an emulation of Maynard Krebbs' mannerisms, which in turn were a sanitised, mainstream version of the counter-culture of the time.

Remember when we had the classic characters revamped into even more fleshed out characters in mystery incorporated cartoon? How that cartoon i watched as a kid also handled some dark topics, while still having humour for kids and and more grown ups. How that cartoon gave every character in the group a purpose? Like Fred was not only leader, but also was good with setting up traps and also was smart in action, Daphne being from high status family had extremely great social skills that most other groups lacked, while also being into karate, Velma not only was a nerd, but her character had cynical view ans snark that while striking still never crossed boundaries with others and scooby and shaggy essentially were the heart of the group and also even contributed when it mattered, while also trying their hardest to solve mysteries despite their cowardice. Like there is none of that with here. Instead of expanding the group out in interesting way this essentially shot the original and now is wearing it's fur as a coat.

Don't you just love it when those progressive and anti-racist people use stereotypes without any self-awareness, funny jokes, and charm? The black guy is now a stoner. Indian/South Asian chick is the ''smart'' one. The white guy is a ''privileged'' jackass. Daphne is Asian and her eyes are apparently racist. She's selling drugs and I don't know if it's a stereotype or not. But her mothers are cops. Cops are good as long as they're empowered women and POCs. But she is a queen bee. You will never be Regina George! The white guy is toxic because he's got a small dick. The black guy is the weak ''beta'' male. At least they're honest about how they see black men. Also, gore and sexualization because that's what counts as adult content. Puss in Boots the last wish had a drop of blood and it's 100 times more mature than this teenage edge-lord shit. Ok, Velma hasn't exactly the same importance as the Star Trek-brand has for CBS/Paramount, but the show is also cheaper. JLong's back, tell a friend!🎵 Also, I love how, in the need for quote-unquote "representation", rather than taking real risks and giving ethnic minorities their own original characters, stories, and IPs (you know, like how most white people have gotten over the decades?), they still think representation means just taking established IPs and doing whatever they want with them. Like Alteori said, it only shows their own racism. 🙄 At this point, between Velma taking a swing at the critics in the first teaser and the creator's 'reaction' to the backlash this all got, it's almost as if they WANT to create controversy by using "outrage marketing" tactics, because they KNOW it'll give them attention and publicity. None of the characters resemble the ones we know. Not just in appearance but in personality, and Scooby-Doo isn't even present at all. Just because an IP has a talking or anthropomorphic animal, that doesn't automatically make it for kids! I'm sick to death of this BS idea that "talking animals are for kids", because it's not true. It's just as dumb as claiming hand-drawn 2D-animation is for kids. They could have easily squeezed Scooby in there, but I guess it's good that they didn't. Otherwise they probably would have breed-swapped him into a pit-bull, Doberman or Rottweiler instead and completely screwed over his entire personality like they did to the others, making them all into stereotypes. And also-also, why the fuck is Shaggy called "Shaggy" if he doesn't have even a full head of shaggy hair? Wasn't that why his nickname was "Shaggy" in the first place?? Oh wait. He's not "Shaggy" anymore, he's "Norville"... ...Why are these guys the Mystery Inc. gang again? Why aren't they original characters for a brand new animated TV show if they're going to look and act *nothing* like the characters we all know and love? Regarding reeling up a ghost, the original show would have acknowledged that. Velma would have brought up how if it really was a Ghost they shouldn't be able to interact with it so clearly this is a person. The children's cartoon is smarter than the adult cartoon. This keeps happening and it's still funny to me.

She's back! Also J there's a cgi he-man and masters of the universe reboot on netflix, and it's actually pretty good. Better yet complete opposite of revelations, hope for fourth season!?

Ikr? It snuck under a lot of radars because it’s difficult to search for/distinguish from the other one. Not even the year is helpful to distinguish it.

To be fair, Norville Rogers is Shaggy's real name in Scooby Doo. 'Shaggy' is just a nickname. It's ironically one of the least dramatic changes they've made tbh.
