I remember reading in the comic where Eddie says Cletus kasady has a body count that only dictators and diseases can dream of. Wished this was an R rated movie

Carnage can't be pg13, he needs to be like Deadpool in that aspect

The most disappointing thing that was said here was it sounds like they tried to humanize Cletus. Why do comic book movie writers never read the source material, Cletus Kasady is not a Joker character, he doesnt have some agenda or humanizing traits hes pure evil incarnate for the sake of being evil. He wakes up and decides he wants to brutally murder 100 people today just cause, he doesnt stop until 100 people are dead, just cause.

Venom 100% needs to be rated R. Especially with Carnage.

I wish they let Cletus command the symbiote like in the comics. His psychotic mind completely takes over and the symbiote obeys his every whim. As opposed to Eddie who actively talks with his symbiote and even discusses things with it. Carnage is just Cletus with a power-up in the comics

Carnage used to be one of the characters that parents wanted to ban comic books for. This ain't it.

I remember in the comic when the news said carnage killed “fifty” people in ravencroft. He should’ve killed those prisoners clapping for him.

Anyone else remember when they originally said Venom would be rated R but then months from release they changed it at the last second and nobody said shit. Tom Hardy said they cut out almost 40 minutes of the best parts of the movie.

Haven’t seen this but just as expected there’s problems having carnage whilst not being rated R… I don’t understand why though, Logan and deadpool 1 and 2 are proof R rated superhero movies can work and for some characters are just needed imo.

The simple fact that this is not a R rated film with CARNAGE of all characters for me makes this film a complete and absolute failure. You would think that after Deadpool and Logan publishers would grow some balls and make R rated films, apparently they're too god damn incompetent to even make an R rated Carnage.

Watched this movie finally yesterday.. This movie NEEDED to be a HARD-R to bring out the absolute madness that Carnage can bring, similar to either Brightburn, or even Deadpool.

My theory: they toned down the violence way down for the Chinese market

I completely called it. I knew the movie was gonna be another “meh” film, and I knew the movie not being R meant that Carnage was going to be heavily neutered. How are you gonna make a movie about a criminal-eating alien and a homicidal serial killer that has a homicidal symbiote… and not have any blood? Leaning into the comedy and away from the gore was a very poor choice. It also didn’t help that Andy Serkis heavily implied that Venom would turn out to be gay in this movie in an interview. Either Venom is now into men (which wouldn’t necessarily make him gay since Venom hasn’t confirmed itself to be male, but still baffling why Andy would say it), or Andy straight-up lied just to get the LGTBQIA community to buy tickets. Either way, not good.

Also, without seeing it i can say it’s physically impossible to avoid the post credit spoiler. At this point we ALL know who the hell shows up in the PC scene…..RU-vid suggested must have spoiled it 1000 times alone. thanks internet! 🙄 Edit: I’ve come back to say even the new trailers for the movie are saying “see it before the secret leaks out” Like REEEEAAAAAL smooth Sony👌🏼

The film writers honestly have no idea who Venom as a character truly is. After have wasted hours of my precious life watching these two BS movies I can tell that they’ve never picked up a 90’s comic book of Venom nor have they’ve watched a single episode from the 90’s Sider-man animated series in their lives. It’s complete obvious.

I haven't seen this yet and probably won't till it comes out on video but I can't believe they didn't learn their lesson from the first one and make this rated R. The first one I can let it slide even though it should have been R, but this is Carnage we're talking about here. Carnage is a ruthless, destructive, psychotic entity that lives to destroy. Not to mention the fact that his host is a freaking serial killer and also a psychopath. Even though I haven't seen the movie, I think they missed a huge opportunity to go full hardcore rated R with this movie and make it great and I'll be honest. When I saw the trailer and the part when Carnage shows up and the things he's doing. I thought for sure that this would be R but I got confirmation from work last night that it's PG-13. Ugh!

Carnage does not work as PG-13. His character simply cannot be done right without being R-Rated. He's a literal serial killer who indiscriminately kills people for fun. American Psycho is Rated R for a reason! He's even tried to kill children in front of Venom and Spider-Man! He will cut your head off and throw it like a soggy football. He is one of THE most evil Marvel characters

I don't think we could have gotten a proper Superhero movie with Carnage as the villain. Carnage needs to be a monster movie or slasher movie. Imagine a found-footage of Carnage slaughtering across a city like Cloverfield. Or an unstoppable slasher like Jason toying with his victims.

It's kinda ironic how Topher Grace would have made for a better Carnage than Venom as depicted in the Sam Raimi films. His voice is just sooooo creepy in Venom form and Woody just seemed like a giant poser the entire time.

The post credit scene is all I'm focused on after seeing this movie. I loved Woody as Carnage, he didn't disappoint as I felt he was a hand in glove fit for Cletus Katsidy. The post credit scene though...I wasn't ready for it. I just wasn't. I feel like this should've been Rated R, but I liked this movie. I'm glad that we got Carnage on the big screen, I wish they slowed this down a bit to really let this breathe like it should've. They were true to the source material somewhat as Carnage did run with Shriek in Maximum Carnage. (I'm going off of the video game, sue me. Also, that side scroller was AWESOME.)

the first venom was meh.. The end of the first movie.. They had the whole, we are venom scene.. So u would think they would be Symbiotic.. But.. They're not.. The first two thirds of the movies were basically like the first one.. 3rd act was awesome but I wished it had a R rating.. Didn't care for the shoed in romance of rip off black canary and cleetus... Didn't need the dynamic with Eddie's ex and her current fiance.. Honestly we needed an action sequence that made Eddie make the rule of no eating ppl again.. Could've had a mid movie battle between venom and carnage where venom lost because they were not symbiotic.. And then have the 3rd act play as is. I wanted to like this movie.. But I don't.. The after credit scene kept me invested tho. But that's it.. I give it a 4/10

Venom: let it be goofy

Carnage in this movie was did almost the same way Venom was in the original Spiderman trilogy... A badass character that could have been a main villain of the MCU, but he just got nerfed and his character got changed for no reason... And now he's gone. Just got used for one movie... Wasted...

It was just a fun movie, nothing more, nothing less.

I have a love-hate relationship with these new superhero movies coming out as of late. I love them because it's good to actually see your childhood Heroes being animated on the big screen for once in your life. However, I hate that they refuse to actually write the scripts properly. You literally have a comic book story, the story itself is already been written sometimes many years if not decades prior, so how the heck are they refusing to stick to the actual origin stories of these Heroes and anti-heroes? It's like they're intentionally trying to rewrite stories for some unknown audience other than actual comic book fans.

It didn't work for me. The only way for me to get invested is spiderman. I know boring but in the right hands could be as great story wise and emotionally intelligent as spiderman 2.

The problem with this franchise is that they made money with the first movie even being PG13. They won’t take the risk on being R if they made a good amount of money being PG13. I was bored through mostOf the movie. First superhero movie I’ve been bored with since Antman and Wasp.

I'm also hoping for more and more of eddie and venom as thats a bromance that should flourish into a while series of movies and even TV series I never got that statement "were probably going to get down voted to hell" i mean why dislike a video because their/his/her doesn't share the same opinion as you? You should respect their opinion and thoughts on the subject. They clearly care about the subject if their prepared to make a 20+ minute video on it and if they give actual criticism on it then that's great! That's what writers, directors, developers want. Criticism! Not "oh its shit, dead game" or "horrible movie" no. They want a WHY you think that, whether it's bad story or bad mechanics, poor pacing and plot. They want to know what they can improve on. I feel like the Venom movies try too hard to be Deadpool. Funny antihero movies for more grown audiences. But the thing is they're not going to be funnier than Deadpool. They should have done the complete opposite. Instead of toning down the violence in favor of humor, they should have put the comedy in the backseat for a full blown gorefest. That is why people want to see Carnage. But that is sure not going to happen with a PG 13 rating. Also, the movie is waaay too short and fast. Cletus and Carnage come as fast as they leave. Great performance of Tom Hardy though, his acting and Venom are good. Hope they let him shine more in the MCU.

Guys, cmon. Do you not remember the original comics in the 90s and 80s? Do you remember any blood or gore in them? Seriously everywhere I go for this film on here, there's always one commenter that goes "iT sHoUlD hAvE bEeN rAtEd R" or "VeNoM aNd CaRnAgE cAnT bE dOnE iN pG-13" its a bloody broken record and it's fucking annoying. I get it, Venom is a brutal character that eats people, and Carnage is a mass serial killer that throws babies outta windows, but here's my answer to you on all that....so? Shit like can happen in a PG-13 movie, but no, I bet most of you want to see blood splattering all over the place and guts spilling out. Yeah that fits these characters but at the same time, its not really necessary. Saying Venom and Carnage were always Rated R characters is the same as saying Spider-Man always had organic webbing, and I know that fact irks some people. And imagine if this movie were R rated, sure you might have a more fun experience, but then your nitpick would be turned to the clunky dialogue, the jokes that fall flat, and all that other comedic stuff brooding audiences hate so much, the quality would have been upped by 10% and you might have ended up with another Predator 2018, but soft core bad. But in the end I guess this is merely an opinion of some. Sorry, but some people are so adamant on an R rating they make it come off as fact, when it really isn't. Id like to someone of this opinion and have a good conversation.

a month ago it was revealed that this movie would be rated PG 13 like the previous Venom film. I doubt Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson and Tom Hardy wanted it this way but since Carnage is a tie in with Fortnite now I think some higher ups decided that PG 13 is going to be what they go for. Would not be surprised if gory scenes were filmed and left on the cutting room floor once it was decided it had to be PG13. Too bad, since I don't mind the comedy in a Venom story. They should just do the violence Tarantino style, so over the top crazy cartoon like violence.

Carnage needed to be like the a build up like Thanos, the planning, writing and everything else was just bad. Felt like a money grab and not proper storytelling of a very crazy and scary villian. And they are hyping the whole movie on a credit scene... means movie itself isn't good.

I hate venom and venom 2. I actually didn’t finish either of them.

The PG-13 rating destroyed this movie. Furthermore, not every villain needs to be humanized with a sad backstory. Cleatus Kassidy is a serial killer. If they had given him a prequel reminiscent to Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs, completely free of superheros or aliens (similar Joaquin Pheonix's Joker) and then brought him in to an R-rated Venom 2, it would have been a more fulfilling movie. Imagine watching a disturbing, gorey, and scary serial killer movie filled with cops, detectives, fbi, etc, chasing after an unknown killer and at the very end they catch the murderer and put him in a cage... in a post credit scene we actually get tom hardy talking to the caged killer and refers to him as cleatus... end of post credit... and the first and only marvel logo appears ... end of movie.

And sony keeps dropping one bomb after another. Doc Oc's return, their new Venom in the universe too. December is going to be ssssspicyyy

Venom: Let There Be Garbage

I personally enjoyed this film for the most part. It's by no means perfect and I would have changed a good bit. But it's far from a terrible movie in my opinion.

Disappointed in the Carnage character. Harrelson did an amazing job as Cletus, but should have been in control of Carnage as Cletus, not the other way around. Leave it to Sony to fuck up an amazing character. Harrelson was spectacular as was Hardy!

I completely agree with OJ on this one. A below average film deserves the below average rating. I had such high hopes for this one too.

Venom would have actually done well to have the darkness of the DC universe. We need the dark, bloody and gruesomeness. Venom doesn't crack jokes, so why is he being forced to be the next Ant-man? I wish they didn't link this with the MCU, Venom already needs a reboot.

The rating is a fair piece of criticism. Without an R rating Carnage cannot be what he was created to be. He's probably the only symbiote that requires that rating other than Knull at this point. Even Venom can be fine at PG13 with where he is currently in comic, but Carnage should be synonymous with an R rating. Cletus in the film is more a victim of modern story telling than anything. People respond better to characters they can relate to on some level. And how do you make a psychotic serial killer relatable? Give his psychosis an origin and give him a love interest. Any sort of relationship Cletus/Carnage had needed to be more "this chick is hot an crazy so i'm into that" and less "true love". The latter issue would have worked better if Carnage adopted feeling for her because of his host like Venom did. But instead they made his love interest Carnages actual kryptonite

If the first one felt better.... than this movie is compacted trash just not trash. The problem is they are trying to fit a R rated character in a PG13 movie. The writing is complete trash. How do they still find a way to ruin venom when you already have an amazing character design and you have tom hardy playing venom.... it's just mind boggling that they Figured out a way to make both movie suck.

The film was terrible let's all be honest. Venom and Eddie have a domestic abuse relationship where venom keeps going into bad jokes to which becomes extremely annoying within the first 20 minutes of the film. Carnage couldn't be used properly because the rating doesn't allow for him, the whole ex girlfriend aspect... That shit needs to go somewhere

My Favorite Line from Venom was when he saw Anne's ring: "UGH! IT'S SO GAUDY!"

they have overdone the comedy part with venom brook situations, feels too purposefully & in some situations were quite awkward & wasn't that funny at all. The final battle was too rushed & not convincing that carnage was defeated just like that, poorly written script & resulting in the whole thing not properly executed. It makes me feel like eternals wasn't that bad after watching this.

This film deserves a 3/10. As a long time hardcore Venom fan I feel disrespected and I blame everything on the damn horrible film writers.

Woody is the perfect person to play Carnage. Just definitely needs to be set free with an R rating.

I wish they would’ve found a way to separate Carnage from Cletus instead of killing off the character. It was such an anticlimactic finish to his story.

I disagree that Carnage needed an R rating to work. Given proper writing, a PG-13 threat would still be very good, but the problem is that this movie had bad writing, directing and editing. It didn't had the proper behind-the-scenes crew to tell a masterful story. They needed to take Shriek out of the movie and made Cletus completely cold. They needed to show (even without much blood) why Carnage was such a menace, the kind that would shake the audience to its core, Joker-level style combination of psychotic and tactician, This was the REAL problem, not whether or not it was rated R. Good writers can make any character menacing, even in a G-rated film.

I saw this at the Drive in theater where the picture is no so crisp. I did not like the scenes of Carnage and his girl friend in the car. I thought it was hokey. This movie should have been all out rated R and frightening. Then when they switched universes at the end they could have lightened things up so it fit together with Spiderman.

They should have offered Carnage to Marton Csokas (Mark Felt (2017)), he's got such a great 'dark' range, truly intimidating even at a whisper 👍

It just still doesn't feel right. That definitely doesn't feel like Venom, and because of the way he's written, that doesn't feel like Carnage. I feel like this movie was just an excuse for the end credit.

I put off watching this after seeing quite a few negative reviews. I think I actually did this with the first one too now that I think about it. I enjoyed both movies. I mainly just really enjoy Tom Hardy as Brock/Venom. He's pretty terrific.

It was never going to be good making a carnage film that's not for adult viewing only
