For April Fool's Manly should play an actually cute game and watch as the comments desperately try and decipher the "true" message behind it.

The absolute PANIC in your voice when you said "OH NO MY TAMOGATCHI IS DEAD!" I felt that.

I love how mean spirited this game is. some of the dialogue is straight up ruthless.

I think the point of the game CAN be taken seriously if you think about it. Like almost all of the characters besides her 2 good friends treat her like she's trash. She probably had a mental breakdown from the abuse and accidentally tore out her eye, (which is super painful) and probably got out the hospital like. "Well my life sucks and im ireparably damaged. Might as well as owe all my dues and tell everyone who bullied me to F*** off and then end myself."

Manly: a cute game- Literally everyone: so it's not, got it.

This game could've definitely used some better translating, I'm still left confused if Apollo was supposed to be in love with his own brother or if his protective nature was just misrepresented.

Veronikka: No mommy I'm not thinking about weird things. Manly: We are. I think it's safe to say we're all with Manly on this.

It's kind of gleeful how casually screwed up everyone is here, gives me Nightvale vibes. The game's a solid exercise in having an entertaining player character. It's pretty clear what Veronikka's made the to-do list for, but the disturbing cheerfulness of her conversations led me along wondering what her reasons were. Never really get the answer, but we get a small snapshot of how screwed up her town and her life was.

And that grave named Florinda Mesa, im sure thats a reference to the mexican actress that interpreted Doña florinda in "el chavo" one of the greatest comedy shows in history. The developer must be hispanic at the very least.

Dialogue in this game is very interesting. Seems like it was literally translated word for word by someone who has knowledge of English and I assume Spanish. The names are weird too... Math? wtf.

I saw some stuff in Spanish, that's why the translation sound funny in some parts. When it said "greet him out of education " it meant politeness, which is said "educación" in Spanish haha Also "padre de milena" instead of milena's father... I'm liking this game anyway, kinda weird!

Ermac wasn't in Mortal Kombat until MK3 Ultimate. She is being lied to. This game is very dark. I think the comedy aspects are to hide the disturbing lore of the characters' lives. All of the "references" were really dark: The Sailor Scouts live in a flat together and they all seem pregnant, Chibi Usi has HIV, Usagi is wearing a wife beater while Momochan is on the corner selling flowers (or can be interpreted as "seeds"), "The Man" and "That Man" is a reference toward Guilty Gear and how the in-game character of "The Man" changed and became "That Man" and how he became irrelevant, I think the arcade girl line is a reference toward Poliaxe-- the hunted Gov. spying arcade machine. That's mild considering the character lore: Veronica's parents are not there (dispite according to the opening lines in the game she have tried to kill herself before), her grandfather may have died not to long ago, her "supposedly" best friend was just a mean girl that used her to for self validation (while this friend is in an abusive relationship with a cheater), she is getting scammed by another so called friend, her crush will not return her affection, she may be ADD and suffer from compulsive disorder, and the very hinted sexual harassment or rape from her (seemly only real) friend's uncles. I think the comedy is there to act as cover to a cathartic story about hiding suffering, or not noticing suffering. This is some sad shit, man. Why you play sad shit.

So was that eye accident a mental breakdown or previous suicide attempt? This game is kind of fascinating though. Even with the bad translation you can get a sense of all the cracks and awfulness of her life and get a sense of why Veronikka feels so alone and why she was pushed to suicide.

I know 2 months have passed but thank you very much for playing Veronika. I laughed a lot! And seeing in the comments people who liked the game and who have noticed the references (almost all of them jijiij) makes me very happy ♥ Many thanks! ♥ PS: English isn't my first language srry :(

The endings aren't particularly shocking, Veronikka's behavior foreshadows it fairly well without making it too obvious. In between such heavy topics, we've got dark comedy and a shocking amount of Sailor Moon references. It worked well, honestly.

Given most of the dialogue between characters in the game, I expected knife fights to figure prominently in each of the endings. Seriously, everyone in this village seems to be miserable.

It's interesting to see Veronikka's personality, clearly someone who truly gave up so she feels free to say whatever the fuck she feels like, it's kinda refreshing seen as most characters in videogames when portrait as "sassy/snarky" are like this because of past traumas and/or tsundere, but in her case she's like that because she truly don't care, she's done and she doesn't care for anything or anyone. Also wowie...... Veronikka gurl... I feel you, let's not mess up the next time ;P

This is just what being in high school is like some days. Teen drama. Stalkers. Raising a tamagotchi. Wondering who in the hell named their entire human child “Math”. We’ve all been there.

_The scissors bit was the first clue_ All the notes left around - so much unhappiness, so much drama with all of these characters. And those conversations were unreal. Between the slightly wonky translation & actual mean remarks, it was hilarious in a very dark humor way. I loved the one with girl & the pig plushie probably the best. And agree, I wish it was longer with more interactions between Veronikka & the other characters. I wanted to see what else was in their mailboxes, what dirt she could dig up on Apollo & Marko, & if she could tell Elvira about Esther & "That Man" in her basement. So much intrigue that I didn't want it to end & I felt bad that Veronikka wanted it to. I enjoyed this game for the pure schlock shock of it.

so what i got was veronikka failed her last to do list. ei the missing eye as a failure to "rest". so thus she tried again and doing and so forth. its basically her bucket list? as she seemingly wants to join her grandpa 'up there'. but wants to complete a few things she loved before offing herself. like eating ice cream, cutting ends with people she hated, finding out a secret she wanted to know. its kinda... really depressing ngl.

Oh is the game dev an native Spanish speaker? A lot of the character names (specially for the non-important NPCs) were descriptions of them in Spanish, like "Mala madre" which means "Bad mother", "Clon" which is "Clone", or "Aquel hombre" which means "That man".

This is nightmare for a procrastinator. Anxiety when seeing so many things to do. If not then at least for me. I'm vunerable to stress

It is very hard to pinpoint what feels off with this game. I kinda enjoyed it on one hand especially because of the artstyle, but on the other I was expecting something more. Needless to day the last chore being just killing herself was unexpected, kinda in a bad way. Some meaning might've been lost in translation, but I don't know spanish to actually tell.
