I loved the look on Babu's face when the others were telling him to drink less tea. It was like "OK young people, just keep flapping your gums and I'll sit here politely. Are you done? great. As soon as this is over, go get me some tea"😂😂😂

For one thing it’s wonderful to see the males mixing with the female which you haven’t normally done and I like that a lot and they both and they all have something good add to it I like that aspect of this

I used to brew my own kombucha. It's a fermented food, like bread, vinegar, or cheese. There's a mushroom-like growth of bacteria and yeasts which floats in strong black tea, fermenting it into vinegar and other healthful by-products. I used a big jar and changed out half or so of the tea bath for new tea each week, sometimes more often depending how fast it was going. The mass of growth grows in flat disks on the top (when you do it right) and as more formed I would compost them in my garden. I added ginger to mine, and I only brewed the one recipe. The growth turned bad after a year or so, and I had to throw it out. But I had fresh kombucha on hand that whole time, a couple of gallons each month, eight liters or so.

Kombucha is pretty good and very easy to brew. You can put what you like in it (ginger is good), but there's no getting away from it; when you drink it the first time, the first thought is something like "this is what fermented horse pi55 must taste like!" It can twang a few taste buds. They were very polite, blessem.

Yes, I began drinking kombucha for my stomach, which is frequently upset. It calms the upset immediately; and I can eat. I use it more for medicine than just a beverage. It is sour, fermented...but when it hits your stomach you appreciate it. I have learned to like the taste.

I wonder if they know kombucha has alcohol in it? It's a very tiny amount, but it's still present due to the fermentation process caused by the SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast).

All tea is actually very healthy, but like everything, moderation is key. Kombucha is fermented so it does have a little bit of alcohol but not much more than vinegar. Fermentation changes the flavors of food drastically so that’s why you can’t taste the tea, but the caffeine and sugar are still there.

They should have each tried a few sips of each flavor,not everyone having one flavor

It's the first time, I heard of Kombucha tea. I'll check into it. The tea that Babu drinks looks different than the tea I drink at home. For me I drink coffee in the morning, and switch to tea then switch to water in the late afternoon/early evening.

Babu, you are 65+ years old. If you want to drink many cups of tea per day you go right ahead. It appears you have done just fine so far. My father ate what he wanted and drank what he wanted, and he lived into his 90's.

Should have clarified that those bottles do have green and black tea, as ingredients.

I learned something new today. Here in Japanland, I drink a tea made from kombu (a form of kelp) which is dried and ground into powder. "Cha" is the word for tea in Japanese, so I always assumed what I'd been drinking was "kombucha". How very wrong I was! After seeing this, I looked it up- the popular kombucha looks to be made from mushrooms. And speaking of mushrooms, you might want to look up Paul Stamets and his work on mushrooms. Very interesting.

I have fermented Kombachu , once. It tasted awful and I couldn't drink it . I was saying , NO, NO, NO, at the beginning of the video until I saw it was flavored. I may try the flavored for the health benefits

You could serve them dirty bath water and they would find a way to compliment it ,I say this because they are such beautiful people and to have lived all their lives the way their families did for thousands of years, and then suddenly have your lives opened to such wonderful new things…. We have so much but can’t see past the last thing that upset us.

Oh, I wonder what would be their reaction if they would see and touch that jellyfish-like "pancake" of bacteria floating in the jar that turns tea into this "kombiucha'... 😅 But yes, even "raw", homemade kombucha tastes rather like light beer or kvass or sweet lemonade than like tea (because that bacteria "pancake" transforms sugars into alcohol and then to acid, much like vinegar, and if you let it work on teh solution for too long it will turn it into very acidic vinegar-like substance).

It's nice to see some women on the channel. I'm sure they may have a different point of view from men.

They'd be fascinated to learn about how it's made, especially the SCOBY! Also, it's not tea. It's called kombucha tea because it's the liquid made using the kombucha SCOBY, rather than the SCOBY itself.

Did you warn them about the very low amount of alcohol? I remember Babu being very worried about alcohol when you gave him non alcoholic champagne 🍾

Someone please inform them that drinking tea in moderation is a health benefit, only the sugar they put in it or drinking too much or psychologically believing it to be "bad" is actually bad for them. And they should have tried one another's flavors since they were using glasses.

This is western kombucha, unrelated to kombucha that has actual kombucha in it.

The sir has unfortunately been sucked in by the kombucha advertising. Don't fall for this nonsense. If you like it, drink it, but don't drink it because the advertisers tell you it's good for you.
