Fantastic video. Well done! One aspect of VC's game in 99-00 that most people overlook, the dude had become a lethal and reliable outside shooter this early in his career. During the 50 game 98-99 season, the jumper was definitely his weak point. He was okay, but definitely needed work. But when he came back for year 2, his jumper had become deadly. He was knocking down tough and long range threes with ease. Crazy to think about that around 82 games into his career, his jumper and offensive game was so complete. Way more than "just a dunker". Also the low quality on the dunk contest was killing me. Next time you need high quality VC footage, just hit me up!

When he went through the legs, I thought it was the greatest thing I had ever seen in my life. Everyone remembers Vince (or claims to have, most fans too young to have seen it live) but Tmac and Steve Franchise were putting up sick dunks as well. There were TWO other guys putting up dunks that would have easily won in previous years. That's what elevated that year's contest to being historically exciting. I was too young to watch the MJ/Nique battles but the only year to match 2000's intensity since then was the Aaron Gordon / Zach Lavine battle a couple years ago. And I forgot the mention that the 2000 dunk contest was heavily hyped because of it coming back from hiatus and and also Vince. That contest was able to exceed the hype!

@KozzyKoz
@KozzyKoz 5 лет назад
@ Ciaran Grimes The Euro 2004 victory by Greece is the greatest upset in Sports history. I know that sounds like hyperbole, and biased overexaggeration, but if You consider all of the facts going into that tournament... IT IS. To understand the magnitude of that Championship, You have to know these facts: 1) Greece had never won a single GAME at any tournament before... not 1! They played in the Euro ‘04 opener and shocked the Footballing World by defeating the host nation, Portugal, and its Golden Generation of Footballers, as well as a young & much-hyped Cristiano Ronaldo. This first-ever victory in a Tournament, alone, would’ve been enough for Greece to go home having had a “successful” showing. Instead, they repeated the feat, in the Final, AGAIN against the hosting Portuguese. No Team has ever beat a host nation TWICE in a Tournament. 2) Soccer/Football is a game ruled by heavyweights, with Championships being recycled among the top nations/clubs, tournament after tournament. Furthermore, Europe is the most competitive Continental Federation, and so winning the Euro is statistically harder than winning the World Cup (WC), because there isn’t a dilution of talent like the WC has to enable all Continents to participate. 4) For Greece in 2004, there were 0 “Superstars” on that Squad, and a Coach who didn’t speak Greek (needed a Translator). 5) People forget that Greece also beat the great French Squad in the Quarter-Finals, who were reigning Champs, and which included Zinedine Zidane, and many of the same cast that would be WC Finalists 2 years later. Whats also forgotten is that they shutout the Czech Rep. in the Semi-Finals, who were the most offensively potent team in the Tournament to that point. ... and finally, to your point, YES, perhaps Greece’s style of play was NIT the most exciting, as they opted to defend impenetrably instead of open up and play a balanced attack/defend style... but give credit where its due... they shutout the Champs, the Top Scorers, and the Hungry Hosts to the perfect tune of 1-0 victories, 3 straight times. 🇬🇷⚽️🏆

And honestly I think that the most relevant dunk was his first one. Of course this one, as it's explained flawless as usual, represents the combination of all the mentioned elements (T-Mac and the Raptors situation), but the high expectation for Vince's first dunk (as it can be seen with all the flashlights even before he threw the ball) considering the last (awful) dunk contest and resulting in an unseen perfect dunk with a whole place just about to explode, is what makes that dunk legendary. Carter set the bar way up high for this particular contest and brought this competition back to life. We owe you so much, Air Canada. Half man, half amazing.
