What engine is going in the VN? This car has been abandoned for the last 7 years, sat rotting away. Well not any more, today I fire up the 3.8 for the first time in a loooong time. Then I make a start on the new engine conversion and it might not be an SR20.... I'm bringing this forgotten BT1 VN commodore back to life in the best way possible. Its getting a spicy engine to suit the rear end. Tubbed, shortened diff, 325 tyre, coil overs, 4 link. Is it over kill? Absolutely - for now anyway. Sorry i forgot to add earlier, once you get the RB30 installed and running you can fit the RB25 twin cam head if you so wish 😀 been done many times

Awesome video. And Awesome choice on the RB30.and yeah you are correct the VN was meant to have that engine but it was to expensive for Holden back in the day. 👍

Cheers for the videos on the tubs , they were awesome …. Love RB’s ! The reason that RB’s never came in VN’s wasn’t due to exchange rates it was due to the partnership with Nissan had ended. And a deal was struck with Toyota… hence the lexcen. When are you planning on doing’s something v8 related ?

Haha hell yeah! I actually should have guessed this one 😂 It’s been tempting to do myself with my first car (VR s pack) but everyone tells me to go 5.0l or LS.. which would be awesome, but a rb30det would also be awesome 😂 Looking forward to seeing how you go about it, and how awesome it’s going to be when she’s done 🤘🔥💨💨💨

Shouldnt be too hard to find an RB VL k frame with all the LS swaps around and most using a VN-VS V8 k frame. My VG ute when I bought it was actually set up for an RB but ive gone down the LS conversion route too.

Get a vl k frame and it will bolt straight in I’ve had one come into work befor was pretty cool to see

Yeah Wicked stuff! I had a RB Wrecker car here, but that was a few years ago. I knew I should have kept more from it! I've messaged a bloke I know local to me, will let you know if anything comes back.
