The “R” indeed stands for Volkswagen “Racing” ask any well versed Volkswagen enthusiast or even VW corporate themselves, originally dubbed the R20 hence the engine displacement size, 2.0 litre, as did its counterpart predecessor the R32, with a 3.2 litre engine displacement, thus originated the VWR brands and other brands but in the end it 💯 % stands for racing.
This was my car before Andrew bought it. I’m not going to blow up his spot but this thing I fully worked over. Autocross monster. And it has a better interior then any other car you mentioned. I miss her but my Porsche is a little more fun.

Im buying one of these. Hopefully this year. This car has so much potencial with that engine. And 270hp stock is also not bad. My fastest car was 210 hp in limousine.
I had Bmw e39 with 3.0 v6 Diesel. That was pretty much cruisin car. Now i kinda felt in love with Hot Hatches and Mk6 R is best option for that money. I also like manual and 4WD.
it's a 2 litre engine, and the german spec one has 270 hp, idk about the states. 2 more notes: - with dynamic chassis control you can get stiff or comfy suspension and it also affects the amount of power steering you get (and fewer blank buttons) - you can replace the head unit with a 2015 beetle/jetta one, and get carplay/android auto, and still have a stock looking unit (i have done so to my r and i love it)

I have 2013 a mk 6 MT R, and love it, bought it used with 4k miles 5 years ago and have no interest in changing the car. I have swapped the full exhaust and software both APR and intake by Evolution Motorsports, the car is so much fun with those few upgrades. The other thing is the reliability, apart from regular maintenance, every 6 months, and the occasional other service such as haldex oil change, it has been a champ. But unlike what he said I do not get great gas mileage... maybe in the low 20s... oops
They're 2 litre engines not 4 litre ;) and they're 263hp stock some have been known to produce 278hp from factory however, my UK Mk6 R will be sitting at 580hp in 3-4 weeks :)
@@richtherider3620 I’m surprised, didn’t think it would make that much power reliably. I was going to get a 2013 Golf R and get a Unitronic Stage 2 HPFP 345hp 350tq tune but I was afraid the Stage 3 (up to 500hp) would be too much for it to handle for daily driving.
@@LJsGarage aye man to each their own. Im just jelly my mom got her lexus es350 with about the same hp and weighs like 500 more pounds and that behemoth still gets 27 mpg on 87
@@Anon_Fox haha I can see where you're coming from there. My Corvette was bad in the city (15ish), but could get 26/27 hwy and that was the LS1(345hp) so that's basically my reference. I appreciate ya checking out the vid and dropping some thoughts 👌🏿
In North America they only had the Mk6 here from 2012 to 2013, I have a 2012. That is another thing I love about this car is that there aren't many of them in North America, there are only about 1600 of the 2013, you can find the actual numbers including color and 3 or 5 door out there somewhere.
dont know about any were else but in the uk they are really holding their money, i know because i have been after one gotta be a black 3 door dsg with decent mileage, not seen one in that spec come up in last 12 months or more with low mileage they are going for more than a lot of the early mk7s over here there is one for sale now with the wing back recaros but its got 4 doors and they are asking just under £18 k for it future classic in the making over here by the look of it
