Hi Ted. Great video, very informative. One question how to get my controls to bleep when neutral is engaged, I have 2007 Sessa with twin D6 with the same throttles as per your video and only the tacho gauge lcd screen. It shows a Info Beep Set Level within the settings which I believe adjusts the bleep sound level but does not active the bleep when shifting the throttles. Any suggestions how I active the bleep. Cheers Lee

Hey ted thank you for all your informative videos. I have a twin EVC E joystick system. I have a mid 250 psid 9 a mid 250 psid 1561 fmi 5, and a rudder position code on the starboard engine. I have swapped out everything from port to starboard SCU in hope to see a change in fault to port side which is primarily the 1561 steering service solenoid code. The code persists on the same starboard side and my starboard drive will not properly align. I also swapped the steering actuator which houses the steering sensor. Would there be any way to recalibrate the drive position on the starboard unit. I am lost and am beginning to think the scu module itself is bad. I have checked resistance in every data line from nodes to the HCU but resistance is 0.0 at every pin. Any advice or assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Love your videos!! I have a D6 435 EVC-C IPS with tachometer, oil pressure, temperature, alarm, fuel, etc gauges for each of 2 engines. The fuel gauges and alarm gauges are badly sun damaged (previous owner!) and I want to replace them. Do I need to run an auto configuration after replacing these gauges? As I always say. If there is a running or control issue do NOT do an auto config, call an authorized VP dealer. If you are replacing a known faulty component or updating (as you are) then yes do it.

Good morning Ted, Great Video's! I have a boat that I'm working on that the starboard EVC is completely dead. Doesn't turn on with Key. Turn on the port side, you will see both EVC's light up, but then the starboard goes blank. I disconnected the upper station and replaced the lower station HCU, but still can't get the EVC to light up. Are tachometers required to be in the system? The tach's on this boat are at the upper station. Maybe I should connect the upper station and try to auto configure again? Thanks for your help!

The port HCU will briefly power up both displays via the Multilink bus information shared over that bus during that key "on" cycle (then the starboard display goes blank. It sounds like the starboard HCU is not being awakened via the key switch. One test to do is to watch the displays and have someone cycle the main battery selector switches (both off) then turn on one at a time - keys off. If both starboard and port displays show the Volvo insignia and then go blank then you have power to both HCU's. I would then first check for voltage at and through the key switch to the HCU. If the key does not "awaken" the lower HCU station then the upper will not be functional either.

@@tedsmarinerepair8956 Thanks Ted, Appreciate the response. I ended up running the configuration again and the lower HCU is functioning correctly. Both engines are now running and both EVC's appear to be functioning correctly. The upper helm still has an issue which I believe is another HCU problem. As soon as I plug it into the system, the lower HCU doesn't wake up and there is no green light flicker on the upper helm. . Question: How often does two HCU's go bad at the same time? I'm guessing that bad batteries might have cause it. What are your thoughts and is there anything I should check? I ordered another HCU for the upper helm. Thanks again for your help!

Ted, Thank you so much for these videos. The best on the net for EVC stuff. I have Twin D4-260's with EVC-C twin helmstations. The PCU on the Port Engine failed and would not communicate to the Service laptop. A used PCU has been fitted and Engine trim works and calibrates fine, engines start and run fine. I don't however have the second helm working. As it is a used PCU, will it auto-configure without any problems to recognise the second helm. Thanks again for all you do to share your knowledge.

Good morning Ted, I have a pair of TAMD75P-A's in a 2004 Crusiers Yacht, they are both running Volvo's EDC system. We have lost gear engagement after a shut down from an oil leak. All is fixed but the starboard engine will not accept the calibration process as completed from the Volvo workshop manual. Port engine is fine. We have no diagnostic codes flashing at the helm and it goes into calibration mode. We swapped controls to see if the problem moves with the helm station but it did not, which ruled out a potentiometer. I have actuated the solenoids and verified resistance is within spec but forgot to verify supply power to the solenoids. Do you think I am missing anything short of swapping the EDC control modules which I hear involves removing a fuel filter. Any thoughts are appreciated!! Great videos, Stay Safe.

Do you get the alternating blinking lights when you enter cal mode? If so then the harness and EDC processor is ok. If you have two stations, try disconnecting the remote station and connect only the main, then see if calibration takes. If so it could be the MS BOX.

Which version EVC is it? If it is A thru C then yes there is a throttle pot in the control. There is a harness adapter you can get for the PCU to plug into the existing sending unit. It may or may not read correctly dependent on it's resistance range. Then it would need calibration as well.
