We bought the P8 recharge. Outstanding quality finishes, and safety beyond compared. Handling outstanding very quite. recharging is acceptable. Not the cheapest EV, but well worth it if your a real car person.
Ordered mine today!!! This model is not made for long trips on the highways though, but it has lots of good qualities for everyday life, and is a total 'sleeper'.
Very good test Kris. The more I watch yours and others tests, the more convinced I get that it will be the personal preferences and subjective reasoning that each individual will do that will decide what EV people will buy. As an engineer I have been trying to find the ultimate choice but always end up with some sort of compromise.
First of all; great video! If you'd charged 8ish percent less and/or charged at the station, could the run be done in less time? 70% charge is 40 minutes so I'd assume 5ish minutes for 8 percent (napkin math, don't shoot me if it's off). But like you said in the video, +-10 minutes on a 7 hour run doesn't really matter in the real world. Anyway, thanks for re-doing the test Kris, this outcome is much more in line with my experience as a XC40 driver :)
Like your videos Kris: good style and content. I am seriously thinking about a P8: don't do many long runs... a couple of 30 min charging stops on a 600 km trip wouldn't be a problem, but the worry about whether there will be a spare charger, maybe having to wait ages to even be able to start charging is a significant (my largest) worry. Shame you can't use all those grillions of Tesla chargers (around 9:30-9:50 or so you see at least 20 in the background!). Many thanks and jeep up the good work!! Oh, and no, 10 minutes on such a journey is neither here nor there... completely irrelevant!
Well I have ordered one. Several people going why, its so expensive and high consumption. I want a Volvo, and I dont want to give money to Musk! So this really just show my pick was a good one. BUT, im not impressed with the delivery time of these cars.
yes its thirsty - but personally not for my daily use. I can charge at home and at office , and in NL plenty of fast chargers along the highways if I really need to stop. It might be a bit more tricky for long distance vacations - but I like the planning and it happens like max 1 or 2 times a year, so totally worth it. I therefor dont focus to much on range therefor but more on what else the car brings
@@bvanm449 Of course, as you said, if you had plenty of HPC, it's not a problem. I also focus on what a car brings to me. And one of those, is eficiency (if possible). I willing to know how efficient will be the Q4 50 E-Tron Quattro with AWD, which is a direct competitor :)
I disagree. It's middle of the pack, which tbh is impressive considering the terrible body shape. Gotta keep in mind that wind resistance is much much worse at higher speeds, had Kris gone slightly below speed limit instead of slightly over the Volvo would be punished less for it's awful aerodynamics. Practical, real world use, range is not a downside for this car unless you go on roadtrips on a timer. For most European countries average daily trips are well within the range.
Hi Chris first up i want to say great video.(as always) Something seems off with the blacks/dark colours , a lot of flickering and gray ish gibberish in dark areas. Im suspecting something in the encoding causing this. It was especcially noticeable in the first few scenes . Maybe you can find a way to fix that. ( Or RU-vid messed up the encoding) 😄 Keep up the great work
Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷, ordered mine yesterday, outstanding car, but a bit expensive here (US$ 65.000). The P8 Ultimate is the only version available in Brazil.
Very nice video, but try not to move the camera so fast, people get seasick. Also, either use some stabilisation when you move or walk with the camera, it is a bit too shaky. All the best from Sweden!
Hi Kris How would you compare materiel quality with the id4? which have the highest level of noise between the id4 and the xc40? Is this xc40 in a nother division compared to the ioniq5/Kia ev6 ?
Another really interesting video, in that the charging speed (if very good) could lead you to buy a car like that Volvo, which - as you say - isn’t amongst the most efficient! Would be good to do it again in the P2 soon, as a comparative. And I’m still looking forward Kris to seeing how you go on with the Enyaq, and wether it can edge ahead of the ID4 or not.
Consumption dropped a lot from the previous run, but still a little bit high. I would also be interested to see the Mach-E in spring weather with the more efficient RWD version. Looks like there are coming some cars in the next few days.
I am curious about the apps for the infotainment system in this car. Is it possible to watch Netflix and/or RU-vid while charging? What is your favourite apps with this car?
Hi Kris, Ordered my P8 in Finland, arriving in Early Sept, 2022 Pro version@€57k, super excited.. Is this a car you would still consider, with all the new EV's today? Is this comparable to others, VW, KIA, or is this in a different class?. Would like to see comparisons including the XC40. Has to be Volvo for me, have been a massive Volvo fan for years, with me getting older, getting in and out of the car is a huge part of my decision..
