mizzuz moto- I have a 1999 classic 800 with cobras. way too high pitch. so, took your advice and wrapped baffles with the stove pipe rope. I have about $14 invested into the new sound, and it is so much better. thank you so much for the help and advice.

Very glad it worked out for you! Wish there were more exhaust options out there for the 800 though.

I have cobra's on my 1500 Classic. 1-1/2" frost plug hammered half way down the inner pipe did wonders to kill the shot-gun blasting on opening throttle. Now has a nice constant drone to them. These baffles came out easy. 2 stainless screws hold them in. The plug flattened the louvres a bit, just open them up again with flat head driver. To loud will wear on ya on long up hill travels.

When you removed the baffels to add that rope, did the baffels just come right off or did you have to break them off? Anyways great video and bike!

I threw Cobras onto my VN800 about 11 years ago and seriously, the difference is the proverbial chalk and cheese - more power, better sound, better appearance. You really should've left them running straight through - once you're on the bike, you won't notice it, but (most importantly) everyone around you will immediately notice you.
@MTOGRT
@MTOGRT Год назад
In Aus, we need to have baffles kept in, of course you can take them out but if a noise complaint or the police pull you over to check, you will get a fine and have to replace baffles or new pipes, Aus law has changed and bike exhaust laws are now more sticter.....than said, new Harley's are so frigging loud s stock, I just don't get it. Arghhhh

Did you have to re jet the carb after doing this?
@Rocketman0407
@Rocketman0407 9 месяцев назад
@@popsxboxas long as you keep the air intake stock you don't need to rejet.
@popsxbox
@popsxbox 8 месяцев назад
@@Rocketman0407 I got a mechanic who is top notch and he said that I would most likely have to re jet and upgrade the air intake due to loss of back pressure. I think it’s a put the pipes on and see how she does. Thanks for your insight.
@Rocketman0407
@Rocketman0407 8 месяцев назад
@@popsxbox If you want a more free flowing intake look up the scooterize mod for the vn800. I consider getting cobra pipes, free flow filter and do some mods to the carb and rejet using a dynojet kit. My mechanic said that would generate around 10-15% more power. The aftermarket pipe is expensive, but it will be worth it I think.

Just bought a VN800E Drifter, love it so much, so good that i leave my Ducati Diavel and Harley FXDLI behind, would you tell me how to install the stove rope in the pipe (Sound awesome)? and do you have to rejet the carb to avoid the back firing? Thanks.
@MizzuzMoto
@MizzuzMoto 7 лет назад
Once you take the baffle out, you can just wrap the stove rope around the length of the pipe. I did not have to rejet the carb. No backfiring whatsoever. It really made the pipes sound better. These are awfully fun bikes but the Diavel? That's a rocket!

I want to do this exact same pipe...cobra sound so nice. I do like what you did with the rope. Whereabouts did you wrap?

+Luís Rufo Hi Luis, yes these are the 4264s. I'm not sure they'll fit the Drifter. The Cobra site doesn't have any products listed for the Drifter...which I thought was rather odd since most aftermarket parts for the 800 classic usually fits.

I sold this particular one but missed it so much I bought another one completely stock and customized it to look identical to Veronica. Only difference is the new one only has 1800 miles versus the 48,000 on the old bike. I think I bought the chrome headlight ring from cruisercustomizing.com.

The width was between 1/2" to 5/8" but it's the thickness that was more important. Can't remember the exact size but we took the baffle into the store to make sure the rope wasn't thicker than the end of the pipe otherwise it's a pain to put the baffle back in. Hope that helps.

+Cane Gagly Hello Cane, they don't make the Vulcan 800 classic any longer so you would have to look for them on the used bikes market. I don't know if you have Craigslist in the Philippines but that's a good resource for us here in the U.S. Otherwise your local classified ads might work. Even eBay motors might be an option if the seller offers shipping. Thanks for watching and good luck on your search!

The 800 is an absolutely great bike - more reliable than the flst, not as heavy nor does it vibrate you to death. No doubt the softails are beautiful bikes but I've ridden both and for the simple joy of riding and not needing to impress anyone, I'll take the 800 any day.

hi im going to buy one the seller said it hard to shift to N, you cant shift it to N when you stopped you have to shift before you stopped or tap the throttle then shift to N when it goes down is it a big problem to this bike? do you have the same problem i have almost no choice
@MizzuzMoto
@MizzuzMoto 7 лет назад
This is a somewhat common problem - not only with the Vulcan but other bikes as well. The bike in this video had that problem sometimes. It was hard to get it into neutral without rocking the bike back and forth a little or opening up the throttle just a little. Not a big deal for me - just something I had to get used to. The bike still ran like a champ. Have fun with the bike!
