You have to love an air cooled VW. They do have a soul. I owned a bus like the on here for a few months and really loved it. I drove it more than the Merc W116 450 SE I had at the time. Yeah, I now, I'm very odd.

Never owned a VW…… but used to drive a van in the 70’s for a friend an his business….1600cc Wand for a gearstick…. An upright steering wheel( my bloody back)…… but you know what I loved it…… we used to load it to the gunalls…. With cakes an biscuits…. For delivery😉👌🏼

Your comments about the electric power steering really improving the driving experience in your VW was a surprise. Growing up we had a ‘68 T2 and I never remember my Mum or Dad complaining about the steering effort. I guess they were different times! My father even developed his own CDI ignition system for our T2 which worked brilliantly and improved reliability. Thanks for the vid, looking forward to watching Part 2 now. Cheers

I brought a t2 camper in 1976 for 25pounds it would only go backwards in forward gears and forward in reverse, fun getting it home , rang VW in Germany eventually as I could not get it working, and no one had a clue a nice guy from technical dept said just swap the reduction gears over in the rear arms , worked a treat , wish I still had it 😢
