I remember last year how everyone was trying to unravel the mystery of what was going on in this show. Me, I wasn’t focusing on that as much, at first, because I was so invested in the sitcom worlds. The first two episodes particularly I was in awe over how the living room was straight out of The Dick Van Dyke Show, and with the second episode, I had tears in my eyes saying, “The detail of this animated Bewitched style opening! It's so beautiful!”

@@stirgy4312 Yeah this show felt like an Avalanche the way every episode built towards something no one had any idea what it was going to be. I don't think many people thought this show would be as groundbreaking as it was and probably had little hope it would be good and by the end people were predicting all kinds of wild shit. But some of those prediction might be finally coming soon in May.

I mean I’m 25. But I didn’t necessarily have the most normal childhood. I was a kid waygj by anything I could find on tv. Sometimes we didn’t have cable and all we had late at night was sitcoms, cowboys movies, king fu flicks, old black and white shows, and movies. So I’m a lot more experienced with the sitcoms than most my age and younger.

I’m 19 and never seen any sitcom in my entire life but I actually figured out the different stages of time passing in each episode because of years of addiction of different types of movies and shows (including periodic) so the dressing sense and comedic scenes made me realise what time period is it. Honestly it was really refreshing to watch marvel try something so different from their usual method and gives tint of creepiness towards the end of each episode.

Trust me, most people were completely confused about what this show was doing as it was coming out. It was clearly what they intended, though. One little note: there’s a difference between a “laugh track” and a live studio audience. In the first episode of WandaVision, they performed it with an audience there. The laughs are real, not “canned”. I believe that was the only one that was filmed like that, though. Elizabeth Olsen performs a master class in acting, as she evokes sitcom “wives” through the decades (spoiler - it doesn’t stop with the 70s), but that isn’t all she does in this series. She, Paul Bettany, and Kathryn Hahn were all nominated for an Emmy, and this show is the first Marvel project to have any major acting award nominations. Olsen was in a really tough category with Anya Taylor-Joy from Queen’s Gambit and Kate Winslet for Mare of Easttown. All 3 had a legitimate claim to win the trophy. Elizabeth Olsen, in my opinion, is about as charming and attractive in this series as anyone I’ve ever seen.

This is fascinating because I wondered what someone who was not around when these classic TV sitcoms (like I LOVE LUCY, DICK VAN DYKE SHOW, BEWITCHED, I DREAM OF JEANNIE -- which I'm actually impressed she even knew about -- and THE BRADY BUNCH) were on, or didn't watch them in syndication, would think of all this. Their recreation of these house sets, contrived plots and corny jokes are spot on. I loved this series. I wouldn't have minded if they went even longer before revealing the truth, but I understand that people were getting impatient and wanted to know what was going on, so I'm just pleased that they kept it going as long as they did. Looking forward to episodes 4-5.

I am so jealous of people who get to watch this for the first time. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I was hooked from episode 1 - but I grew up watching a lot of those old sitcoms on Nick at Nite and so the amount of love and attention paid to recreating EVERYTHING (the acting style, set, types of effects, diologue, camera angles etc) from each era was just incredible, and I could definitely tell there was something subtly mind screwy going on but none of us knew what it was! To date this is still my favorite MCU property of all time (including the movies).

Fun Fact: Whenever Wanda uses her powers to levitate objects in the 50's and 60's episodes, the special effects team actually stood on catwalks above the studio set with wires to recreate how sitcoms of those eras would do the same thing for their own practical effects!

Practical effects are making a comeback. It's exciting !! And they can only get better if Hollywood invests in them more often. It’s funny, through Endgame Wanda and Vision were afterthoughts at best for me. But after this show, they might be my favorite MCU characters. Cannot wait to watch the Wandavision journey through fresh eyes again. And Cassie watching so many movies because of the channel could be an interesting primer for her understanding of the series structure.

Unless you grew up on sitcoms from the inception of television to present times chances are you’re going to miss all these references to the past, and be lost watching this.

I never worried about how it was happening and what was going on because I grew up on sitcoms and the trailers advertised enough to know it was going to be doing that.

"I don't understand what's happening" The good news is that you're not supposed to. It's a Riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. It actually all makes perfect sense, but only after everything is revealed. It's amazing when you rewatch it all, and see all the pieces and hints being laid out.

Cassie, Even those of us that are familiar with the MC and get the easter egg references, this series was still confusing but we had to wait weekly for new episodes. You are lucky enough to be able to binge the series and have all your questions answered right away.

Cassie, you said these Marvel superhero movies are the kind that even chick-flick lovers can enjoy. I'm so glad you gave them a chance and you see it for yourself. The creators made sure that each movie was not just a smash bam comic book movie, but each one was a legitimately great movie experience on its own filled with humor, pathos, and great character development, as well as excitement and superhero antics.

Have faith in the process. Just like when you realized the title WandaVision, has a double entendre. Very nostalgic to see the the old classic sitcoms recognized. Trust me, it gets better, but your head will still hurt! IMO, she is the most powerful Avenger.

It's supposed to be a mystery! You're meant to enjoy the journey through eras of television while also looking for clues. I'll admit, my knowledge from the comics helped quite a bit with this show as I pretty much knew what was happening but there's lots of twists and fun Easter eggs along the way so nobody was certain!

Nailed the answer immediately. Well done.👏👏👏 Elizabeth Olsen deserves so much credit for how she nailed these styles. Also, the director for the whole series is Matt Shakman, who was on a ton of sitcoms as a kid, so he brought a huge amount of experience for how these are shot.

I love this show soooooo much. Mainly because I understood exactly what they were doing the second the 2nd episode started because I use to watch those old shows. Followed by the fact I fell in love with Wanda almost instantly in the movies makes it so I was so excited for this. To answer your question, what made people so interested in the show is that no one really understood what was going on. So everyone was trying to figure it out at the same time while completely confused. If made for such a fun experience. And favorite Avenger is Cpt America, Black Widow, and Wanda in order

It's a gorgeous homage to television down through the decades with plenty of twists and turns, if you love tv there are hundreds of easter eggs to be found, the house Agnes lives in is literally the house they used for Bewitched which the intro for ep 2 is based on

You really like the house -- that has been changing with the times; like the style of dress...don't worry -- we all were speculating and along for the ride, just like you. Although, most of us had to wait each week for another episode. Theories -- everywhere. Those with comic-book knowledge, have the edge though; it is spectacular!

A lot of other people struggled with the first few episodes of WandaVision, not everyone likes the old black and white style, but it's all for a reason, once it's all revealed it will make sense, have fun with it till then! We all had trouble figuring it out what it meant, don't worry, every week as the episodes were coming out there was so much speculation and many theories.
