Hello! I have really appreciated all of your content and it has helped me tremendously in getting through the AFOQT and applying for an OTS Board. I am trying to enter as a husband and father of 2 as a USAF pilot and would love some insight into what work-family lifestyle has looked like from your perspective. Please let me know in what ways we could connect and discuss!

So you going straight to ots or you gonna enlist and commission.
@Jake-fe4uf
@Jake-fe4uf Год назад
Man that's so long for OTS. I see why many just give in to go Army OCS. End up being a 1LT by that point and 2-3 years of your 20 done already. Also, it is extremely competitive to get into OTS here in the Southwest US. Couple non medical Officer slots basically with 100s applying.

Is it possible to go straight to AFOQT before meps medical? Also I’m getting tossed around to get my application started, any advice for officer reserves ? Positions are rarely available and slim chances for non rated positions due to covid pullback. However I just want to start to take the AFOQT, my nearest officer recruiter is 120 miles away.

I can’t thank you enough for this video. Congratulations on your pilot slot. I am 34 and pursuing OTS pretty aggressively. I hope it’s not too late for me and I can somehow receive a waiver. I am studying for the AFOQT and down about 25 pounds training physically. I am really thinking rated position but I know my age and having no prior military experience does not help my case. Any other tips for a guy my age trying to chase OTS?

I'm the Air Guard you can apply for officer each year you're in and can get commissioned so long as you can still serve 10 years as an officer. Basically that means so long as you have time to retire. Not that you have to serve that long, just could if you chose and they need you.
@RyGriff
@RyGriff Год назад
@@Aliveandfighting1 thank you for the info. Definitely going to explore. Do they have strict age limits on pilot spots?
@Aliveandfighting1
@Aliveandfighting1 Год назад
@@RyGriff Welcome. I'm not sure as for the pilot age except the fact that most positions are a bit more lax so long as you are squared away. Waivers are a factor regardless though.

I attended AFROTC my freshman year in college. The unit closed and graduated without a commission. Couldn’t get accepted to OTS so went to graduate school in order to attend ROTC. I neither needed or wanted that degree. C’est la vie. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)

Do you know the chances of active duty personnel getting an OTS slot? Is it better than their civilian counter parts? Any information is welcome! I’m a current SrA looking to apply soo
@eliasbarry
@eliasbarry 2 года назад
According to a FOIA request, AD averages a slightly worse selection rate than civilians but not by much (~2-8%). The bigger problem is the hoops needed to jump through while on AD. That’s what makes the application process particularly difficult for AD.

That's why I enlisted first. The time it takes didn't work for me at the time. I went to OTS 4 years later. Honest I don't think I would have made it through OTS if I was not prior enlisted.

I was told by recruiter they are not accepting applications for non rated persons for OTS. Since COVID. So the minimum is not the only thing, Air Force need is forefront.

It’s true that OTS is the “valve” of personnel for officers and that sometimes you have a 0% chance if there are no boards being conducted.

More than 100 airmen of color have bravely written to me with their HORROR stories dealing with racism, discrimination, bullying, sexual harassment and so much more. A book is on its way and I also plan on revealing full names and ranks to the news agencies. How dare you hurt the people of Puerto Rico and treat us like DOGS!? A1C Markivee - said the N word countless times in a PA office SSGT Horton - would also say the N word and very violent during PT trying to hurt the people he did not like. TSGT Robert Webb- tried to sexually molest me and another girl in my office. Senior Master SSGT Michael Jackson - knew all about these thing. Did nothing Major Brian Maguire - knew all these things, did nothing I finally reach out to MSGT Jones and OSI joins the fray! Your lead civilian in public affairs I caught him recording saying behind my back “he should just buy a woman’s magazine”. They send me to 3 mental faculties and wouldn’t you know…my testimony is invalid! Do NOT join the US Air Force IF you are a person of color.

Depends on the Position. But generally the acceptance rate is really low for OTS. ROTC is a lot more guaranteed, but it involves being in ROTC for 4 years. Depends what you want.
