WARNING This Part Will Destroy Your BMW M62TU Engine For Business Contact : Nathan's BMW Workshop Po Box 115 Altenburg Mo 63732 nathan.youtube@yahoo.com
He is right because I have taken apart my RRl322 engine 7 times in 5 years. Now I can't find the problem why bank1-4 doesn't work? It's a "damn man's car"!
Keep in mind they're cheap bc of the fear of maintenance costs. A v8 e53 was a 60k $ vehicle brand new. One would definitely hold some value today if they had been more reliable. The value is still there just instead of paying it to the previous owner you pay it to FCP ECS etc.
Thanks for your insight Nathan, very useful. Do you know Timm's BMW Repai channel ? He owns a beauty : E31 840 with a M62TU and gives good advices to keep the guides in good condition. Rule number one if you buy a car with this engine : Know how it has been maintained.
Didn't mention the E38 at the the end. Seems like the 740i m-sports are fetching decent money, particularly if the guides and vanos have been done. 10-15K or more if they are in great shape with decent mileage. Any thoughts?
Damn.... I still can’t for the life of me find out why I’m getting a Linking error on the odb port. All fuses are good, just not getting spark with new oem cps and CKP sensors. I refuse to give up on her cuz I LOVE THAT SOUND AMD FEEL of the M62tu. I know people don’t fix them for multiple reasons but man are they just a soulful sound. Thank you for your help and if there’s anything else you can think of, please lmk! Thanks!!
Another great, relevant video Nathan. Is it true that heat, over the years of running, causes the coils to break down on these cars, especially M54 engines? Could explain my problem. Car was in TEXAS heat for 20 years and then having to deal with the heat in Florida. Also, if you have any type of tune done on the M54, will that put additional strain on your old coils? I suspect it does.
@@andrewthompsonuk1 I know it is an anecdotal evidence, but I personally know a E38 740i that did half a mil without anything going wrong with it. They redid the chain, gaskets and cooling at that point and it is most likely still running.
The '97-'98 540 Sport with the non-vanos is the best of the M62 lot and should be worth more than the vaulted '03 540 M Sport based on ease of ownership.
What's starting to happen in my Range Rover, is that it's getting terrible gas mileage, and it's starting to missfire on bank 2, im thinking it's the VANOS, because I've replaced the coils and it still has the same missfires on bank 2.
Hey Nat how are you? I don't have a comment dut a question my climate control display on my e39 is black and throwing heat. I changed the display but its still black can u give me any advice
Hi Nathan, I really like your video's. Not sure about the beard :-) ... I liked your previous video too, "for the M54 guys". One of the things that might be worth to give (again?) attention, is your view on the mechanical fan (+fan clutch). In your video's you drive around without. And that is controversial. In my case the fan is still there. By they way, I have weird, but explainable phenomenon wrt this fan. My ABS unit is bad, so sometimes the ABS lights come on. I see that there is a relation with heat, because it always happens after a long drive, when I pull off from the highway, and stop at trafficlight (Then the engine heats up more, especially with airco on). Recently I installed a new fan clutch, because the old one was doing nothing. Guess what? The ABS lights have not come up anymore (now for 6 or 7 weeks already). Thus this fan is cooling the radiator, the engine itself, but also some parts in the engine bay, as it seems. My ABS unit still needs attention ofcourse, its not 'repaired'.
I agree with you I won’t buy the m62 tu but In my case it’s different my E38 was my father’s car and it was the BMW for me to drive in my teenage it’s hard to let it go I love ship
My 08 bmw 550i . I move it to steam clean the floor and after I got done the car will just turn over but wouldn’t start so I check for fuel and spark it had it and sprayed starter fluid on mass airflow sensor and it will star will the fluid .so I had my Bmw mechanic look at it in 30 mins he said it’s running fine and he told me I should’ve tried the other key . The alarm system shut the car down. Some how .
Nathan how long have you been working on BMW's? Your knowledge base makes me think you've been doing this for over 50 years. You would need a lot more grey hairs to make that age.
Those sneaky ba$t4rds hiding that small fuse-block next to the ECU. Of all my looking for an answer I never heard anyone mention that block. My car is at the shop for no-crank diagnosis. I swear I tried all the normal fixes on this model and finally gave up. I wonder if it's a fuse in that block. Going up to find out now.
can anyone name a cooler car looks sound and drive then a 540i e39 i cant i want to be talked out of it but i cant its all i think about the note of the v8 and looks to me is worth 15k easy to me. my lexus costed me 1k and some in less then a year and still needs so much more i just want to sell it for a manual 540i
