I don't wear a watch but was very interested to see what features this offers - my wife has an Apple Watch so she may well get some use of it......but she DEFINITELY will get some use of your watch straps - I had no idea that was your business....I shall take a look now! Excellent review. I have been using this app on two Teslas and I really love it. I did another test run on an app called "Tessie", and found I like the "Watch for Tesla" app better. I have the app set to not wake up the car at all until I open the app. I may give your 5 hour suggestion a try and see how it works.

You can control your Tesla with the app Tessie as well. Not sure if you can do all the Siri commands - haven't tried it out - but you have all the options and controls to open the trunk/frunk, turn on climate, release charging cable an so on.

One way to avoid “looking” for the Tesla,app, is to add the Tesla widget to the iOS Home Screen. Pick up phone, Face ID opens it, then the widget is just there to press.

@@BillyBigBalls911 I did add the widget, but there doesn't seem to be any real advantage since I have the Tesla app on my home screen anyway. I got a different watch app and love being able to open the trunk with it while my phone is in my pocket.

The app cost 19.99 on the Apple Store. However, can we have the Tesla watch on two phones off of one download or do we have to pay almost $40.00 dollars to download the Tesla watch app. I just hope we don’t have 2 pay for the app twice for one household. It becomes expensive

Thanks! So I actually use a few... I have a Sony A7SIII from work (However its pretty pricey camera the Sony A7C, Sony EV-10 or ZV1 amzn.to/37sJEwc is much cheaper and will produce very similar footage) an iPhone 13 Pro for a lot of the shots and sometimes for the car interior shots when driving I use a DJI Pocket 2 amzn.to/3CRTqU9 ... to be honest the Pocket 2 is so good it could be used for everything! I'm just a bit of a camera nerd! It comes with a wireless microphone, built in gimbal etc!

watched this video a while ago I was very impressed. now that I own a Model Y I reviewed it again to consider buying it. so my only concern is security since it interfaces with the car are you concerned with some one hacking into you Model 3?

Hey Kenny yes I've been assured it is safe, but I've stopped using it just as I found I wasn't using it as much as I thought I would. I might use it more in summer I think so will reinstall it

Great Video, Mark. One question that wasn't covered was whether or not the Apple Watch can serve as the key to the Tesla. For example, can I leave my phone in the car when I hit the shops and opnly take my wallet and watch, being able to "walkaway lock" the car and unlock when I approach it? Can you answer this one? You might’ve figured it out already but you can. Just need to have internet on both watch and the Tesla. So as long as you have an LTE watch or are somewhere near wifi, you should be fine

Hi Mark. Great video as always. Two questions for you: 1.) With the cellular Apple Watch, can you unlock the car without the need to have your phone with you? In other words if wearing the watch, does it allow you to walk up to the car and open it then drive it seamlessly? 2.) Do you anticipate that you'll be offering your Buckle & Band straps for the new Apple Watches released today? I have my eye on the new Apple Watch Ultra but would love one of your straps. Hey Chris thank you. So with the cellular you can just use the watch without your phone if you set it up that way. (I've chosen not to do that on mine now) Yes so good news all current 45mm straps fit the Apple Watch Ultra. We are looking at doing some premium sports straps for the Ultra too, similar to the Omega style rubber ones.

If you buy the app but don’t have an Apple Watch (and therefore only use it on iPhone), can you use the Siri Shortcuts with the phone locked? Might work from a pocket to open boot if it works that way?

Hey Valley yes you could do that, just use the iPhone and Siri with your iPhone. I’m not 100% sure if it would work with the iPhone locked I do think the phone would need to be unlocked

Hey thanks for the message... Its a tough call. I mean its £11.99 and you own it forever with no upgrade costs, so I feel it's not too bad in the grand scheme of things, however you're right it doesn't do much new. It is handy if you just like not having to get your phone out of your pocket. I think at £4.99 it would be a perfect price.

I used this for a week and got a refund on it because it just didn't work - every time I sent a command from the watch, it would wait 30 seconds before telling me it couldnt make a connection to the app/car or wake the car up! Main reason I bought it was because it's one of the only trustworthy Tesla apple watch apps which use Siri shortcuts. I pay for Tezlab Pro, for example, and it has an Apple Watch app, but it's not got all the controls immediately available, and it doesn't have Siri integration. Made me envious to see that you got it working consistently!

For me it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. It also takes a while to respond if the car is sleeping. That delay is quite annoying when I tell Siri to open the frunk with my hands full of groceries. I look like an idiot waiting next to the frunk only to find out the command then doesn't work. As a result I've stopped trusting it.

It’s a good app - great review Mark. I used it for a good while before discovering Tessie which covers phone/watch/iPad and has more features. It is a monthly sub vs Watch App’s one off cost though.

Hi Mark… I was looking forward to your review and it certainly didn’t disappoint… job well done👏🏼 I noticed that the response time, from you tapping a button/ request for the boot to open, is seemingly pretty instant. It seems to take some time to respond in my case which is strange. Also, when I use the watch and say, “hey siri” to make a request, I always receive the reply, “I do not recognise that command, which short cut would you like to run”. If I use my iPhone and make the same command, it states words to the effect of, “command failed” but then does what I have requested anyway. Any tips or suggestions on how to overcome these niggles gratefully received 🙏

Thanks so much, so I found that as long as your car is awake it's pretty quick. (Just make sure not to close down the Tesla app for example.) In terms of the Siri commands you need to add this in via the Siri shortcuts section first. It might be worth going in to re-record them so it understands your voice better. (I found that made mine super accurate.) hope this helps

Be very careful with Siri Shortcuts. I managed to open my boot remotely from 30 miles away while talking to friends and couldn’t close it due to a bush behind my car!

Hi Mark. Good thorough video as always BUT! Tesla to my knowledge does not give public or third party access to its API. Using this watch app is, under UK law, an unauthorised modification and will probably invalidate your insurance. I had just this argument with the dreadful Octopus (not so) Smart charging app. Once you have given your Tesla ID and password to a third party you have really given total control of your Tesla to somebody else. It's a total legal minefield.

@@MBrown It's even more complicated really. If Tesla haven't authorised it then the app, and you have basically "hacked" the car. Do you think if something goes wrong, especially whilst driving, that Tesla are going to support you? I'd wait for an official Tesla companion watch app.
