HLC has a great message about what happened. I've thought for a while now that our politics has gone from a "loyal opposition" mentality to a "enemy across the aisle" and it is sad. And I agree our own media outlets and social media don't help matters. We need to do better!

@@haloplayerII7 he likely thought it could be way worse. Keep in mind in large parts of history and even today some parties have their own militaries. In many countries its not unusual for parties to be on racial, tribal, or ethnic lines with your party depending on your group. The SS for example started off as the Nazi party guard back when they were more of a gang then a polticial party. Parties were sometimes just based on whatever noble you were under. Not really voters but even during Washington's time a large part of some states voting power was based off slaves and women which would have translated to a large part of a parties voting block
That message there towards the end. THAT IS WHAT IT MEANS TO BE AMERICAN. Not only do you serve our country, you understand the values you fight for. That is what it means to be a patriotic American. None of this political bullcrap of never ending mudslinging, instead of doing what's right for the people, is helping anyone but the elites (media companies in particular) that profit off of it.
To quote Stephen the Irish from Braveheart, "Nice speech." But after so many YEARS of hearing that half the country is worse than Yahtzees, this is something that's going to take more than coming together in the moment to fix. If any good comes from this, it'll be that the purveyors of these sentiments learn that words have consequences, so use free speech wisely.

Something I'm noticing, word for word what you said doesn't strictly apply to only 1 side or the other, and I'm seeing that more now than ever! Imo, if you're bitter at ONLY 1 side, you're only half way to the truth. HONEST self reflection isn't so much what the country needs, as every individual. Sadly, the older I get, the more positive I am that many(often thru no direct fault of their own) are incapable/unwilling to engage in that kind of honestly.

I served in the Marine Corp with a green card, my dad did the same in the 60s before needing to return home to raise his siblings because his father died. He always told me to stay away from politics because he lived through political violence as a young man back in the home country and it would only make you crazy. I asked him one day why we came to the U.S. The old man simply said, there is something about this country I love, no matter what these politicians do, or tragedies unfold. The people in this country always figure it out, which we really always seem to do. I am still a proud Naturalized American Citizen, and I still love my country. The politicians, maybe not so much. I really wish our politics were more about voting on ideas to make the nation better, but instead it seems we are stuck with two parties saying the other is evil.
Sadly this issue isn't just over there with you guys. I genuinely despise that modern day politics are effectively nothing but a glorified popularity contest at the expense of the regular people. And it's unfortunate that can't trust politicians and their words. But rather you must spent a lot of your own free time to research what work your elected officials has done and plans to do.

I really appreciate your stance in this and the political neutrality. HLC is the American I grew up to admire when I was little: the cool big brother of the free west. Some say that doesn’t exist or is a lie, I say look at people like HLC.
Honestly I do like him, I feel like I know his politics because I watch him enough but he does not slam his politics too much so I like that. Even watched some streams and I could honestly be his friend.

I have seen right wing and left wing channels that scream about the state of the usa. They made me stressed out before I unsubbed. Ignorance is bliss at times. Though despite my politics the military is cool because like or hate war, it tends to be the mother of innovation. Also its funny watching russia go from the 2nd greatest army to a paper tiger that struggles against a rebel army with the old toys of a super power.
A bit of comedy to help the heart felt, and much needed words of wisdom be received with hopefully an open mind. To those out there in the USA. The best way to make change is get out there, and vote, volunteer, show empathy. If you don't like or do like the candidate that was voted in last time, politely, and respectfully debate with others. Voting is the best way to show a politician they are doing the right thing / they messed up.
That’s great in other news the DTCC filed new guidelines on June 6ᵗʰ concerning a national emergency or day of mourning (i.e. the death of a current and/or FORMER sitting US President). And subsequently Blackrock was funding a certain Crook’s school…. It would certainly be convenient if while everyone was mourning and looking over yonder in the wrong direction, certain groups trades were allowed to clear and go through settlement without full public scrutiny. Well said buddy. Your sentiment is exactly how I felt. I realized the first thing everyone was asking was political affiliation. I realized I didn’t care about that and only wanted to see an end to the irrational behavior. “A house divided cannot stand.” We all must do better. Whether to be the example for others to follow or be the example of the standard which we hold others too.

Very well put! I was raised to not to see the world as black and white, one side or the other. Focus on what unites us, not what divides us. Good point. Too many people on both sides would rather spend time dehumanizing and vilifying one another than to focus on what can make America better. It's supposed to be the UNITED States of America, not the Divided States. People are caught up in a fog that clouds their vision.
As a fellow American with military ties(father and mother both USAF) I agree with your words and sentiment, I would say this as well, people need to get educated again, because we are suffering through the things Ike warned us about. When we stopped caring for our brothers and sisters we became strangers to them. We must do better.

We used to be able to state our opinions, plant a flag in our viewpoints, debate and even argue, sometimes loudly and unproductively. Then we would take a breath, chit-chat about the weather or something, and then go have a beer together. My best friend and I are about as opposite politically as can be accomplished in one universe, but still laugh and joke, reminisce about our mid-west upbringings and love each other like the brothers we never were. We Americans are better than this. Its time we remembered that.
and it's always one side that just keeps escalating, keeps calling for more escalation. I'm not American, but from all over the world EVERYONE can see it - they aren't even hiding it.
