The podcasts are fun and entertaining but the lack of knowledge from both hosts can be grating especially as Tony thinks he's an expert on almost everything - his attitude sucks at times too
I always meet my mom for a coffee every Thursday afternoon and love taking a slow drive home listening to this podcast. My favourite day of the week for sure, thanks Sam and Tony for the banter.
I was there front row. Great morning out, nice Tony and you made time for as may people as possible. Classic Tony when asked about Duke of London stock "I rather get the bus home" 😂😂😂
@@heales73 so easy to say that when you already know it... probably a 488 pista. And btw he isn’t a superstar and I’m not even in the UK so be realistic for 2 minutes. We’re not all unrespecfull tennagers but true petrolheads that follow this channel each and every week. I’m not travelling to london just for the sake of knowing it
@@jaimykok6533 the car you own represent the people you are I think. From a Ferrari owner POV it is so interesting to know what other people have, why and what they think about it. That’s the definition of sharing I believe. If that’s a loon answer please tell me, I would love you to teach me some valuable Life lessons. Bye
One of the best BTG episodes ever. I always forget it's Thursday already until I see a BTG upload at which point it becomes the best day of the week. Also I realised STG uploads became my favourite out of all the other car youtube channels. Well done.
Love the podcast but please get a mic in the audience so we can hear what they are saying. Or even just subtitles edited in afterwards. Would really enhance it!
I've been to France, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain and Portugal last month and I can without a doubt say that Portugal has the most supercars and petrolheads compared to the rest. Also as Tony said, if you're double vaccinated, traveling is pretty much hassle free
Love watching these live shows, love the rating rides and seeing what people turn up in and just the general banter about it but live event or studio it's nice to have the regular uploads back! Not trying to have a dig at STG here but for someone who's a pretty big name in the UK automotive scene I definitely thought you would know a bit more about the wider spectrum of cars but I guess you're more knowledgeable about supercars where supercars have always been in a different realm for me and possibly others that probably could never justify owning one. First gen R8 V8 vs V10 for example, there's dual exhausts on each side on the V8 and singular oval exhausts on each side on the V10 if you want to know how to differentiate them and in one of the previous epsiodes you were guessing the year of subaru and in this one the age of the blue carrera gts, it helps to be able to understand the current style number plates such as 52 and 68 reg corresponding to 2002 and 2018 respectively :D
It was great fun. Very organised too and superb venue with amazing pizza for lunch, my Blue R8 V10 didn’t come in for any stick either! Looking forward to the next live show 👍🏻
@@maddog4390 naah when Tony has a car he talks good about them. Because he has to sell them, it's his business afterall. Plus, some one said it was a pista. They saw it in his tagged photos on Instagram.
One of the best live podcasts, would be nice if you could have a roving mic so we could hear the audience comments better. Best car for UK roads, in my view, is a basic 718 Cayman.
It was great meeting you both and thank you for being so nice about my Porsche 991.2 GTS PDK on Rate My Ride Hope to come to another one. Keep up the great work 👍👍
You should do review of 147 or 156 GTA. You going to love it. But i suggest finding Autodelta conversion one, with bigger engine, lsd, coilovers etc...
Tony’s comments on 15 year old cars - is about value! “Modern classics “ which I do love, are no longer value, they’re bleeding expensive! And why do I keep agreeing with Tony… 😂
Would be amazing if you can film the actual even or just some B rolls to show the turnouts. Anyhow love the content hope i could make it to the next one
I don't know why I'm surprised, but I am surprised how much I enjoy these 'live' 'podcasts', particularly the "rate people's rides." I find the automotive YT space in general is struggling right now. I started watching BTG because I was finding so little else to watch that I found interesting, and I was surprised how much I enjoyed most episodes, especially as it's not easy to keep my attention these days, especially for +- an hour. Tony is also such a great asset. Sam will 'hate' me, but I generally prefer BTG to STG. Maybe it's just me, but I am suffering from super/hyper-car overload, and most other new cars have little to nothing to distinguish them. And you see an increasing number of people with the money to buy supercars and so many are swapping and changing all the time that it's clear they're struggling to find something truly special, and as a viewer I'm also struggling to see what's special. As a petrolhead I love talking about cars, and strangely, watching people talking about cars.
I think classic cars were generally much more interesting, although I understand Tony, in that in buying such cars you face unreliablity and rust. There are enough YTers buying classics and ending up doing full restorations that they hadn't intended to do because of the hidden horrors that are found when tackling what appears to be relatively minor rust. For sure, modern cars are more complex, but also much more reliable despite that complexity. Generally, they are also much better built. At the same time, Sam is right when he talks about so-called modern classics, many of which benefit from modern build quality, but are less complex. Putting infotainment screens in cars for sure dates them as fast as your smartphone and laptop; essentially out of date the day you but them. Maybe soon they'll be no infotainment screens and you'll just download an app to your smartphone that interacts with your car, but that wouldn't be so good for car makers that seem to benefit from infotainment screens dating cars. Of course, as we rapidly enter the EV era, and increasingly drive an appliance, seemingly more akin to a washing machine than an ICE car, it only gets worse. I acknowledge that for everyday transport most regular ICE cars are nothing special and an EV for commuting and shopping is going to be just fine. But when we already have regular EVs that can do 0-60 in less than 3.5 secs, how long before that's down to the sub 2 secs the fastest cars can now do? And the reality is that physics and human physiology dictate the limits of 0-60 times and how fast you can process and react to information. I think we are already near the limits of physics and human physiology with the Model S and the likes of the Taycan that already challenge good drivers that are young and fit when driving hard. I am sad to say that the best is already in the past. That doesn't mean the present or the future is bad. Today's cars are brilliant in so many ways, but at the same time struggle to impart an emotional connection. They are too fast to exploit on the road, even in Germany, as the Autobahn only allows you to exploit straight-line performance. And for the most part the sound is muffled by green tech. Older cars are often more exploitable and therefore more fun on the road. Many more deliver a great sound, too. Sure, they don't have the latest infotainment, but that's not the be all and end all, and for many cars there are updated systems available. Where older cars are generally worse is the gearbox. There are great cars with robotised manuals and early DCTs that just let the experience down. So we look for the manual versions that now so often carry a really huge premium when in their day the manual was the cheaper option. We rave about the Ferrari 458, which is great in every way except the sound of its engine. So we think about the F430, which sounds great, but the F1 gearbox, although better than before, is still not great, and the manuals are almost double the price. So, right now, we end up at the 360, which is compromised in the handling department, especially the early ones, but of which a manual example is still relatively reasonably priced. So Sam and Tony are both right at the same time. They present the two sides of the same coin, which is why BTG is so good. Thanks, guys!
A bit awkward to watch Sam yell st Vicki then no one wanted to talk uo afterward while he was calling out the m2's. Mood killer for sure. She should stay out of the live events.
