England deserves a proactive manager, who’s willing to make tough choices to benefit the team. In particular, the fact that he still plays Kane speaks volumes. Irrespective of the result of this tournament, he needs to go.

No, we really don't. Not until you explain a 94th minute substitution. He's just slinging mud at a wall and hoping something sticks. It's luck. Whether that's the easy tournament runs, or the moments of brilliance from the squad. It's *not* his tactics or management (any more). This guy is clueless. England are in the semis in spite of Gareth Southgate not because of him. Incredibly lucky goal against Slovakia or they would have been out before the quarterfinals. This was Slovakia, not exactly a world power in football. Against Switzerland, a moment of brilliance by a star player saved them. We will see if they survive against Netherlands (my guess is not).

One minute we can’t see games out next minute we playing the right way. What’s next we’re in a semi final that’s all I give a care about. He ain’t perfect but he’s been the best manager I’ve known for England in my life time. Given me some memorable moments. Built a team finally with some unity unlike the “golden generation” we’ve won penalty shootouts ironically enough finally. So I’m gonna give the geezer some credit. Yes he has problems but we’re in a semi final don’t care if it’s boring and we get a moment of magic for the last two games if that what it takes so be it. Don’t be fooled. No , we don’t have to give Southgate credit. This is total media BS. He’s been very very very very very very very very lucky. It wasn’t “ great “ against Switzerland. It was just simply not as awful as what went before. Any changes and subs that have worked have pretty much been forced on him. Southgates's main asset is that he is a lucky manager and he has been riding his luck in this tournament with moments of brilliance from individual players saving his arse. He will start with Kane against the Netherlands, but based on his performances Kane should be on the Bench, Frankly his performances so far have been well below Par. England's Best option against the Dutch would be to attack their weakness which is Virgil Van Dykes lack of pace and the best player to do this would be Watkins

Kane needs to hold the bench. We could have beat Switzerland within the 90 minutes if he had just laid the ball off the Palmer. Palmer was facing the goal, and Kane had his back to goal with a defender breathing down his neck. Instead, he chose to take the obvious route and turn to shoot. Shades of the 6 could have assisted Sterling against Croatia in 2018.

This man is part of the FA-Englands boys club, where he never asks Southgate challenging questions and protects the FA at all costs. Rob represents all of Sky journalism for international games, and has done for years. So the biasdness runs deep in this fella. We need journalists that aren’t biased, and know football at a high level to help educate couch fans to view the game at a higher technical level. If Southgate had beaten Belgium in the group, Holland in the last 16 and Germany in the last 8, yes, I'd have to give Southgate credit. But given who he has played and in four games NOT beaten, I don't have to give him any credit for not already being on the plane home. If he'd lost to Slovakia, he could have had no complaints whatsoever. He won on penalties against Switzerland, which is a result, but not a performance. England's advertising slogan under Southgate should be: 'Come and watch England not lose!'

You must remember France score nothing apart from a penalty. You don’t need strikers on the pitch to win but you do need a man who can be an out ball. Kane has not done his job to be that out ball, he hasn’t even won many balls in the air. In his last game he passed the ball 9 times in the game and didn’t even sprint in the box. Let me ask you a question if you had a world class goal keeper let 2 goals in a game would you keep him on the pitch?

(which is only a problem when you play them instead of better younger players) When it has been the lack og relational skills between the players and a clear system that fits the players at hand and not Southgates fixed mindset. TAA has actually better defensiv stats than Walker in Premier League, and even the blind knows how much better going forward he is. but Southgate choose to play underperforming favorites.
