Weber Q Flame Problem Fixed! Have a WeberQ BBQ grill with a low flame issue? Is your Weber Q grill suffering from flame problems? In this video I show you how I fixed my Weber Q with a small flame issue by replacing the gas regulator. The gas regulator that I used is a very common regulator typically for a backyard BBQ grill. With just three fittings I was able to attach the new regulator hose. With the new regulator hose I can now use a 20lb tank or with an adapter I can still use the 1lb tanks.

Thanks for the video, my Weber Q2200 is only 3 months old and I couldn’t get the high flame and that’s when I turned to RU-vid lol 😂 So I thought before I go rebuilding my new barbecue with a new regulator I thought I would call Weber customer service because my Weber has a five-year warranty, good thing I did call them. The Weber technician walked me through the start up procedures of the barbecue, he said to turn on the propane tank and wait for one minute after one minute light the barbecue. Wow it was like magic I had a hot flame 🔥 so I did it 3 more times and it works perfect now. But I’m still thinking 🤔 I will buy the new regulator and fittings just for a backup in our motorhome. I thought of being out in the boonies with no barbecue would be devastating. 😂

Mr Fred you are The Man!! Just completed the retrofit, new burner tube, that great adjustable regulator, and the correct fittings, all from Lowes or Amazon for less than $50. Grill works GREAT!! BTW, I put a mark where I set the adjustable regulator because it can move easily and turn into a blow torch 😊. I may tape it to be even safer. Thanks again, it's burger time!!

Excellent video. My Weber Q 2200 heats up fast and cooks great. Better now than when I bought it. I had to change a few fitting sizes based on what was available at the box store but I got the thing plumbed in and working. The concept you have there is what's important. Thank you for sharing.

Hey there, excellent video and thank you for doing so. Amazon accidentally sent me a 5psi regulator and hose with a 1/8in male connection end. Can I just use a 1/8in FIM union to connect the regulator hose to the valve assembly? I have already tried and am finding that the propane is running fine with no leaks but the igniter is not lighting the burner tube. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
@MrFredsDIY
@MrFredsDIY Год назад
I suppose it’s possible to just connect the hose with the union but I’m not sure about the 5 psi.
@michaelheiss4456

Could be too much pressure , the grill originally used 1 pound of pressure ! That 20 regulator I have isn't on very high . It will put so much pressure it won't light the grill . Turned down it works great . I set it for the best flame on the low and high setting on the on and off knob !

Hello. I’m pretty sure that even though it says 1/2”, the fitting is 1/4. (The Amazon seller had a typo when I made this video)I just ordered through the link again and as soon as I receive it, I will verify the specs. As someone else had mentioned in the comments, there is a fitting that has 3/8” Flare to 1/8” female npt. This fitting may be easier because it is 3 fittings in one. I will pin a link to this fitting in my pin comment, but also it is right here.amzn.to/4e82QgR

I performed this fix but the flame is uneven and bounces up and down a bit. I suspect a failure in the valve itself. When I turn the gas ON at the tank but the valve is turned OFF, the valve opening bubbles when sprayed. Any fixes for this? Where can I find a replacement valve only?

I believe the valve assembly is sold with the factory regulator. amzn.to/43QRJCj

I am already running a big tank, so I am guessing I do not need the parts to set the grill up for that. I have very low flame, and now I only get flame on the back 1/2 of the burner. I am thinking that adjustable regulator hose will help me, but should I also need to buy new fittings? Could they be clogged with dirt? Any additional help is appreciated.
@MrFredsDIY
@MrFredsDIY 9 месяцев назад
I would definitely remove and thoroughly clean the burner tube. I use a long flexible brush from a kit I bought at Harbor Freight with dish soap and water. A paper clip works great for cleaning the holes. Cleaning the burner tube will eliminate that as the possible problem. Although it is possible for the valve to become compromised with debris, more commonly it is the regulator that develops an issue over time. Contaminants get into the regulator and cause it to malfunction and using flexible rubber hoses increases the likelihood of contamination. LP has is known to leach waxy oils from these hoses which then become contaminants in the regulator. This problem is compounded in hot weather conditions. Here in Las Vegas I am lucky to get two seasons from a regular hose on my charbroil BBQ grill in my back yard. The only way that I have found to connect the WeberQ valve assembly is with some adapter fittings like the ones in this video. I have since added a quick-connect to this hose system which allows me to disconnect the my regulator hose and store it under the lid as well as plug it into a camper’s propane system. (That video is on my channel) That all being said, factory replacement regulators are available for the WeberQ and they come with a new valve if you want to go that route here is my fill out link for that product amzn.to/3LOKeGb heist

You don’t need three fittings…. They do make a single fitting that goes directly from 3/8 male flair to 1/8 female npt… I did that instead and makes for 2 less places there could be a leak or failure.

@MrFredsDIY
@MrFredsDIY 2 месяца назад
These grills do require a regulator. The pressure from a propane tank is way too high to run direct. The only exception is if you connect it to a camper.

@MrFredsDIY

The regulator is adjustable. I find that it works best for me on the low end of the dial. When I am grilling, I generally turn the grill knob to medium and the regulator knob to low and tweak the knobs from there, depending on what I am cooking.
