You can get the sticker out if you heat it for a couple of seconds with a hair dryer :) I've done this with books I've thrift es and has worked like a charm :)
Like you, I've read Morris' trilogy on TR. One of the best bios I've ever read. TR is simply fascinating. Currently I'm reading, The Windsors at War(A King, His Brother, and a Family Divided) by Alexander Larman. this is a follow up to his book The Crown in Crisis.
Every time I think I can't possibly be captivated by another book, along come my Booktubers to prove me wrong and complicate my life even further! RUSSKA and the one about the Gulag letters sound especially good. (Tho', I am not sure how comfortable I am reading people's personal letters that were never meant for strangers.) ARGH! You crazy people! * shakes fist *
That is a good point about the letters not having been meant for the public eye. The only thing that let me feel comfortable enough to read it is that the couple was still alive at the time of the authors writing, and they gave him their permission to publish the letters.
When it comes to biographies, just to warn everyone not to read a book about Marie Antoinette, I think by Stefan Zweig. It was the most repetitive book that went in circles and told the same things in a different way. I put it down about 100 pages in and never finished it...
Great selection and nice to see you back! Many years ago, I read Russka and I believe Rutherfurd's first book, Sarum, and really enjoyed them. I have His books, New York and Paris but haven't tackled them yet.
I still haven't read Rutherford yet, but I hear he's quite similar to Michener, one of my favorite writers. But I think you should host a channel read along when you get to Russka 😁
