Parts are unavailable as of January 22, 2019 How to replace the mechanism on a Weiser Handleset when the thumb pushy downy thingie won't retract latch!
Kim and Jason....You are fantastic! When my 18 year old Weiser handset mechanism decided it was tired and worn out, I ran across your video reference replacement on the mechanism. Being unable to find anyone that would provide a replacement mechanism for me locally, I contacted you. Within a couple of hours of our conversation I received notification of the part being shipped. I had the part in my hand within 1 1/2 days. Having initially watched your video prior to calling you, the replacement process took approximately 20 minutes from start to finish. I will definitely use SE Lock and Key in the future, and highly recommend you to anyone needing such services. All aspects of my customer experience were excellent, including courteous and knowledgeable answers to my initial questions....quick and efficient order process.....fast and efficient shipping/delivery, and helpful easy to understand how to videos. THANKS for a great customer experience! Dan from Kansas.....
I bought the Weiser kit. It works great. In fact the customer asked me to get an extra one for them as a spare. The tutorial was great. I had to file a bit off the lever like you said. The lock was on a 3' x 7' x 2" oak door. 20 years old.
I just received the Weiser kit from you guys. With the help of this video, it only took me about 15 minutes to install, and I have a working handleset. My wife loves this one, so we figured why buy a new one if this can be fixed. Thanks for the tutorial and the fast shipping to me in Connecticut. If I need any l lock parts in the future, I'll be sure to call you first.
You do great work bud! I am going to school to be a locksmith and your channel is a great way for me to get a look into the life of being a locksmith! Keep up the good work!
Acho sempre bom ver os videos desse canal, por mais que os padrões americanos de fechaduras sejam pouco comuns no brasil, consigo extrair otimas tecnicas de desmontagem e manutencão desses videos,ótimo trabalho👍
Hello, Great video. I also need the mechanism for my grandfather's front door at his place. No one sells the replacement part for his door thumb latch mechanism. Locksmith told me I need to buy a new door set. No one sells the replacement part. Weiser brand. Please help.
Mine is exactly same as yours, it finally stopped working yesterday. now we can not open my front door from outside unfortunately. What's the part called and wonder if I could buy through amazon or somewhere I could find. It's the Weiser brand, same as yours.
Great video. I have the exact same issue and by watching you I was able to pinpoint the problem. I have a broken gear on the inside mechanism. I flipped the gear and it broke again. The problem I’m having is that I cannot find the replacement mechanism or replacement gear for an Emtek Morgan. Any ideas?
Cool video, my lock set is showing the same characteristics. I have the box and bill of sale and it states lifetime warranty so back to Home Depot I go, hopefully I can get a free replacement
But where do you get a new mechanism? How do I know which mechanism works for my door? That's critical info. Also mine turns easily enough, but doesn't spring back up.
Excellent video. Do you, by chance, Have any parts for a Dexter® thumb latch door handle? It's about 15-years-old, and the latch is SO hard to push that it acts like a second deadbolt lock!! Thanks. PS Is Dexter still in business?
Charlie S. Have you tried any decent quality liquid lubricant like TriFlow? Dexter has been rebranded several times and remains in business now as a rebranded offshore quality commercial grade lock under Allegion (or Schlage) they do not offer anything for parts and haven’t for many years. Depending on accurate that 15 year number is they may have been directly under Schlage operating as Dexter by Schlage and during that time were going through many changes. Email a picture of the outside and the edge of the door to selockandkey AT gmail.com
@@selock Hello, Thanks for getting back to me, I appreciate it. I shot some silicone spray in it awhile ago, but it didn't really seem to help. I'll go ahead and E-mail you the pics soon. Thanks again.
@@selock Home Depot (around 12 years ago) just replaced the entire set with a new package off of the shelf (including deadbolt) without a problem (or receipt). I hope they do the same these days.
Hey man I have a similar weiser handleset as the one you're working on in the video. In fact the new mechanism you installed on it is the current one on mine however it opens the latch but doesn't seem to have enough strength in the springs to return it. Could you ship that part to Canada or know of anywhere I could find it?
RICHARD PAUL Carpenter Jr uhhh yeah ok, not even sure what you mean by all that but you are wasting your own time watching our videos (not even related to a Land Rover) 🙄 bye now
