Check out 3D-Coat here: 3d-coat.com
Welcome to an overview of 3D-Coat; a fantastic 3d sculpting, retopology, and texturing painting application. In this tutorial series, I will be going over the basics of 3D-Coat. We'll discuss the basics of the sculpting tools, voxel and surface based workflows, retopology, texturing, and more!
This tutorial series is intended for absolute newcomers to 3D-Coat. I will not be going over every single tool and will gloss over the advanced features.
I hope you enjoy this series and find it useful!

At the end of the tutorial you forgot to tell them to hit the Apply UV button so that you put the new uv onto the model.I love this tutorial very good, peace.

I have these purple edges that are showing up on each model I import on my 3D coat. They are... horrible to say the least. A purple edge overrides everything. So when i mark a seam for unwrap, it makes the seam, but doesn't become red as it usually would with previous versions of 3D coat. It makes it really hard to work efficiently because if an edge is purple, there is no indication that I had previously marked a seam on it... yet the seam is still there. It's driving me crazy.

Is it able to do multile objs at a time and arrange the UV's for all? I imported two meshes into a scene and UV'ed one of them. I saved and closed the application. The next time i opened it, the work i had done was gone and the obj i had worked on is transparent. Im very confused at the mo. Any help?

Instead of Creating UVS can you export the retopology directly? Or do you have to mark UV's? Does export retopo object require special setup or can I do it directly?

Hi, nice tut. How would be the process of UV mapping and paint them later in 3d coat FROM RHINO3D? fbx, obj? It is a nurbs software.

can you work with multiple uvs in one object with 3d coat?

Your tutorials are very helpful, but I have a question. In the end of Part 16 your "UV Preview" is empty, but at the start of Part 17 you have something in "UV Preview". I tried to make an AUTOPO, but after that I see nothing inside "UV Preview". Have I missed a step in the workflow?

That obnoxious cyan wireframe makes it hard to see when the UVs are gray. Maybe that can be changed?

Hm... I just look through the preferences in 3DC and none of the theme colors seem to correspond with the UV wireframe so unfortunately it doesn't look like it can be changed. You can always put in a feature request at the 3d-coat website.

@AlienMinefield: Yeah once I own the proggie I probably will. It's important the wireframe color be configurable so we can see what's underneath....and even more so when seeing the color underneath is important. :)

but is there a methed where i can import an obj model that i already sculpted in zbrush and uv unwrap it ? i tryed that but in retopo room it doesnt recognize topology at all, it seems 3d coat wants his mesh in order to uv unwrap it. So i tryed that. I performed auto retopo of my obj model when i imported it in 3d coat and then it seems all ok, it alows me to uv unwrap it just like in your tutorial but i dont want to perform any autoretopo because im already satisfied with the mesh

You can import the high resolution mesh into the sculpt room by going to file -> Import -> Import Mesh for Voxelization. For the retopo mesh, go to the retopo room and hit the plus sign at the bottom of the 'RtpModels' window to bring in the low resolution mesh. Then you can click on that retopo model in the Retopo room and you'll be able to place the mesh with the transform tool.
