1. allow him to fail without nagging or shaming him (ie driving-what happens in the car stays in the car). what's more important: being right or being happy? "Any woman can honor a perfect man, but not all can if the man is imperfect." Important for kids, especially sons, to see how moms treat dad.

I try to do this over and over but somehow keep failing :( Jimmy Evans is so right on the fact that women should NEVER treat their husbands based on how their mothers treated their fathers. Unfortunately, many relationship troubles stem from what we saw and how we were treated in childhood...sad but the truth. I never disrespect my husband with my words but I still disappoint. I pray I can become a better partner for the sake of my relationship.

looking back if I had married the man who loved me I know how he wanted me to honor him was by staying in shape, dressing up in tight clothes and makeup, having my own job and hobbies and yes he did want me to do what he told me. There was some good teaching in christian circles was a woman can easily submit to a husband who leads a wife in the right way. For instance if u r with a good man and he guides u to do something, than it turns out right u want to seek his guidance again.

If real men read the bible they would understand what their responsibilities for his wife and children are. He should make sure his family is following God, reading the bible and worshipping God. He's responsible of protecting his family. God had a purpose to physically make a man stronger for that reason. Not for controlling. God had a purpose to make a woman a loving nurturing person to care for her family. It takes both the right Husband and right Wife to be successful at this.

I looked at the whole marriage situation among friends and family, and took a look at the divorce rate. I did this back in 1996. I agonized over it for about 6 months before (in 1997) I chose not to marry. I've kept an eye on the situation but it hasn't gotten any better. 50% divorce rate and 70% of divorces are filed by women. I can't expect to be treated well so I don't play the game.

@Blonde Viper Traditional husbands have been abusing their wives, cheating on their wives, and taking their wives for granted since almost the beginning of time. Women started standing up for themselves. I'll tell ya right now....I would be a great wife for a husband, but I'm not willing to marry a cheater, and one who looks at porn, plays video games, idolizes sports "heroes," and he can't pick up after himself. I don't want some ungodly man. That is not attractive at all. I have a lot to give someone, but I'm not signing up to be a caretaker of a grown adult male. I don't mind doing the laundry if he's the only one working, but if he can't find the laundry bin, get outta here with that. And if both of us are having to work to support the household, then he better do his share and help around the house. Get real. Women aren't accepting the lie that men can't function as adults anymore. Don't throw trash at your feet and expect us to pick it up. We're not slaves. We're not "mommy." We're supposed to be spouses, working together to serve God in this life. There should be mutual love, respect, honor, and service from each spouse towards the other. There are good women and men left on Earth and there has always been some of each since the beginning of time; but they are very few and far between.

Yup, honor your man. Treat him like a king and he will treat you like a queen. When you say something, say it with grace and respect. It's not what you say, it's how you say it. Men are very sensitive. They want to be treated like liitle boys. When you speak to you man in a loving, kind way, he listens and you absolutely draw him close to you.

2. It's too bad really since I would have been a good husband. I'm polite and kind, I'm a natural teacher and would have been a very good father. I did rather well in the career department, with a rock solid job @ 70K a year, nice house, nice paid off rental property and this house is just made for raising a family. But with the divorce laws being what they are, I just let my Dad move into one of the spare rooms and I'm camping in the largest room. I'll pass the years working on my garden.

How do you honor someone that disappoints you on a daily basis? My son in law is viewed by my grandsons like he hung the moon. I hope they never see him like we do. When he doesn’t show up to their soccer games, yet we can drive 1 1/2 hours one way to watch them kick the ball for an hour every weekend. He’s off fishing(drinking), or pretending to work(drinking). He reeks of alcohol, and the disappointment on their faces is so hard to watch, when they realize he’s not there. But Dad said he’d try to come… All I can do is pray for him and my daughter too. She also thinks he can do no wrong, yet I’ve seen her bruised ego, and she puts on a brave smile. Everyone please say a prayer for all of us. Especially me to keep my mother in law tongue quiet. How long will Jesus allow this to go on?

What I noticed with my married friends is that their wives have a strong need to try to control them. They even try to control the friends. I had to say to a friend's wife to not try to control me. They use holding sex as a smart weapon, than the guy finds someone nicer and kick the sex holder out. There are lots of mother's in law destroying marriages.

I had those same dreams.I used to day dream about what my marriage would be like since I was about eight years old! Now I'm 54. I've been married for 32 years. It is NOTHING like I dreamed about! It's very hard.

Mr. Evans is always talking about what he did wrong in the marriage. I'm sure he was wrong but no one is perfect. I don't ever remember his Wife admitting any wrong in the relationship. It seems insincere.

we get the house the car the money to go shopping etc you name it back in the day, not today. women today are independent this is why divorce rates got higher women divorce anytime at any opportunity the guys being a jerk women have grown more intolerant (again in general) bc women today can earn their living women today can work buy their own house their own car, artificially conceive raise their own kids etc. Hence, respect for men has significantly but wrongfully decayed

'Submitted' in Eph. 5 is 'hupotasso' which a military term denoting arrangement according to rank. Paul then explains this in 3 ways. Slaves to masters, children to parents and wives to husbands. Masters do not submit to slaves. Parents better not submit to children. Thus husbands do not submit to wives.

Treat men, women and children with kindness, respect and understanding. That's it, for everyone, I just don't get these people. You don't need special treatment for different people. As for 'men have tender egos...', please just stop. This does men no favors, it makes you all look like babies. Satan must be sneering and smirking in contempt at the way you have reduced men to weak, oversensitive, pathetic creatures. If I were a man, I'd be outraged at these claims. Women's solipsism is universal. Hypergamy and female nature doesn't care where the female was born or raised. All that matters is what laws she can use to get what she wants from the male via the state. Look elsewhere if you like- no harm in it worse than in NA but good luck in your search :)

Divorce rates are higher because women are independent? No. Divorce rates are higher because once married the women can use the state to extract funds from the male--> this is not "independence". Also... there never was respect for men at all. Males have always been disposable soldiers/wage earners and women have always been pedestalized and held to a lesser standard in every regard especially in legal courts.

Even if both are unselfish if the relationship ends the man will lose majority of the time emotionally and financially. If you're expecting women to be unselfish... good luck with that. You should look up solipsism.
