Did you know the Green Berets have 9 MOS’s? U.S. Army Special Forces are known for their ODA’s, and within those ODA’s are a mixture of different MOS’s of soldiers.
While all Green Berets go through most of the same training together, each soldier brings some subject matter expertise to the table. If you want to know more about the different jobs/MOS’s of U.S. Army Special Forces, what they do, their training, and much more, watch this video!

There is no Ranger MOS series, code or jobs. Ranger's are basically special operations infantry battalion (Expect Ranger Recon, they're a tier one unit) - you are infantry, medic, UAV operator, a Ranger cook (met someone who was one), Intel, PSYOPS/Civil Affairs, etc with additional 75th Ranger Regt training. My advice is get a job that's hard to get (like UAV operator or maintainer, Intel, PSYOPS/Civil Affairs) and as you're finishing up your MOS training contact a Ranger recruiter. Most soldiers in very technical jobs don't want to be Rangers, the Ranger/ARSOC recruiter will be tripping over themselves to get you a RASP contract. Infantry men wanting to be a Ranger are a dime a dozen - and often are ignored if they're coming off the street or aren't the top 1% of their OSUT class or platoon. Here's a list of MOSs the 75th Ranger Regt accepts: www.benning.army.mil/tenant/75thranger/Specialties.html

Just a regular grunt in the 101st 1-502 just couple blocks down from 5th group which i was wanting to try for until some my behaviors caught up with me after 05-06 deployment to Iraq in The Triangle of Death. Was in Charlie co. Who was in same battalion as Bravo co made infamous by a few bad apples especially Specialist Greene who i knew of but didnt know. My biggest regret is not handling my shit better which led to loss of my dream to be in spec ops. At 46 years old i still wish i could get a chance because i am more physically and more importantly psychologically sound now. I wish i knew about 18x and was jealous when talking to one at airborne school. I felt duped by recruiters because i asked them if there was more direct route and told that i would need to try after being in the Army for a bit. Fucking recruiters. It is closure i will never have. That 18x didn't even finish Airborne school btw said he was pt stud and didnt even pass the initial pt test at AB school. How embarrassing.

The 18X program needs to go. When I went to selection, you had to have 4 years prior service before even trying out. Spending 4 and a half years in the Ranger regt made me a much better and more experienced SF Soldier when I became an 18B. These overseas indigenous forces expect you to be a MASTER of all forms of warfare. It takes years to become that proficient, and coming straight off the streets and going through that pipeline hasn't given you ounce of experience. All you know is what you've been school taught, not from being downrange in any way, shape, or form. All this program is, is swapping quality for quantity. And, this can be costly if you're involved in that 2 way rifle range.

How much cross training is there between MOS's? I mean, would a medical sergeant learn much at all about comms beyond what all soldiers are taught? Would he learn much about the engineering side such as demolitions or improvised explosives? Do any of them learn about the operational planning side of things or is it just stuff they pick up from watching others, as opposed to being intentionally trained?

Well I was a scout for an armor battalion. So we went out ahead ( in Bradleys) and scouted the area ahead of the tanks so they don’t get surprised by enemy tanks or artillery

What I'm getting after watching this video is that there is not much point to being an officer in Special Forces? It sounds like all the work is done by enlisted soldiers and if you happen to have a college degree and are second or first lieutenant, they give you an administrative role. Is that accurate or did I miss something? i.e. there are no Majors in the green berets, it's mostly if not all sergeants.

I know that everyone get three try on selection but there is special force, civil affair, and psychological operation. Does this mean we get three trys on each operation? From my special force recruiter, selection for special force is a lot longer than psychological operation. I come to an conclusion that there is multiple selection? But I also heard something like if you passed selection. The army will ask for your top three (special force, civil affair, and psychological operation) of where you want to go and if what your pick match what the army needs then you are in luck. If not, the army will send you to where they needed.

What are the other special forces the U.S Army have to offer?

Special Forces refers only to Army Special Forces (aka Green Berets). They do have other Special Operations units however, these include Delta Force, the 75th Ranger Regiment, the 160th SOAR, Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations.

Can you do more tips and tricks videos? Though I love your content currently, I much prefer them and I’d find them useful as I want to get fit and better prepared for my military selection process in the short future.
