@@theresageiger584 Wild caught Salmon (1-2 a week), Grass Fed beef, kale, green tea and broccoli, drink about a liter of water every 2 hours and stray away from sugary beverages and processed sugar holistically, no fast food either, but if you cheat don't be too hard on yourself. Walk around more and adopt an exercise routine that includes both aerobic and anaerobic exercises. If you work a 9-5 then I feel sorry for you but that is intrinsically stressful.

You know it's funny i searched about how to reduce brain fog today and the first video is this. And then I remember in the morning I was having a weird feeling with the gut. I never thought to put the two together! This might help me.

I'm connecting to this situation. Whenever i eat full stomach that's when I experience extreme brain fog. I experience all the symptoms told by the doctor. I'll follow his instructions and see.

I suffer from IBS and the Low FODMAP diet helped me a lot. I suggest adding resisting starch to your diet as well. I see I difference in my mood, thoughts and behavior when I derail on the diet.

Resistant starches and/or insoluble fiber help the large intestine produce its own butyrate. Butyrate is what a gut needs to repair itself.

Heavy doses of antibiotics will also screw up your digestive system by killing off good bacteria. Nobody ever told me that when I was in the hospital and I suffered for a long time. Or, maybe they did tell me but my brain fog didn't let me hear it.

@@potatoes1234 I had intervenes antibiotics in the hospital for pneumonia. I found out afterward the antibiotics will kill off your gut flora and good biotics in your stomach. Then I found out that brainfog can be caused by changes in your stomach biotics. Started taking "Pro biotics" and things got much better for me.

I have so much brain fog and gut issues as well as depression, anxiety, high blood pressure. I can't lead a normal life,been out of work for years and can't drive on the highway!! I'm so fucking sick of this shit..I don't think I'll ever be normal again. For everyone who suffers from this all his life. You know people tend to tell you, it's because of depression etc. IT IS NOT. I went on a mission to find out, since im psychologist myself people told me my diarrhea is linked to irritable colon. I have build up a pretty decent life and the only thing I never controlled was my diet. This is why I went on a strict beef salt and water diet only, inspired by Jordan B. Peterson. The outcome was I no longer have diarrhea, but way more important NO MORE BRAIN FOG. I am getting to the peak of my own potential of performance. I don't wanna sell you an agenda. Just try 30 days beef only diet or at least carnivore. You will be reborn.

I’ve been on the carnivore diet/ keto for about 9 months now and recently reintroduced carbs and feel terrible. I started by snacking on peanuts and had chili with beans. Nothing crazy but my brain fog came back. I started this weighing 224lbs and I’m now at 174. I want to keep the mental clarity but don’t want to continue losing weight. Not to mention having to explain my crazy diet to family and friends. I’ve been down this road before where I lost a large amount of weight but never had the brain fog. I experienced a lot of stress and anxiety when I contracted Covid and haven’t felt normal since. Only when I go strict keto or carnivore. I wish I had answers.

Experiment with L Theanine or Holy Basil or Ashwaghanda . These things balance neurotransmitters, aid your general well being and give a natural calming effect on your mind and body. Id highly recommend trying them . One at a time though!

I have been suffering from Brain Fog since October 2018 and have not cured it. Had a MRI of my brain and blood work and I’m fine. Initially, I though I was suffering from on set of Dementia at an early age. I guess this condition may have started from my gut. I notice that if I eat breads or pasta my condition worsens. I am at a total loss......My doctor thinks I’m over reacting.

Hey very late comment.. but a question if you care to reply simce i am struggling to understand what exactly do i have so i will list some symptoms i have had for a while now. Not a native english speaker though so i will try my best. It seems like going on the low histamine diet first would be the logical thing to do sense the release of histamine from the food is what is causing the issue according to the doctor.

Many thanks, Dr Michael - your recommendations are appreciated much! I personally had the worst brain fog one can imagine in the last 10 years and other gut issues and this method seems to help. I'm on day 3 following your recommendations and feel much better already. My energy is back as well as a much clearer brain and less unpleasant feeling from my gut. One more thing I wanna mention is that I struggled to fall asleep during those 3 days ( maybe it's the much energy I got suddenly) and I took sleep promoting supplement (Valerina Forte) and I immediately felt discomfort in my stomach and when I saw the labelling, it says contains Lactose monohydrate (milk sugar) and that may be the fallback. I now throw the tablets in the garbage and will continue the process which I believe works well for me! f anyone tries this method (low FODMAP diet) let us know your experience!

I found that by doing The Buteyko Method of breathing, I eliminated my brain fog. There are videos here on RU-vid. It is easy and just takes minutes.

Dylan Sylar try meditation and doing pressure points and yoga. I did all these didn’t go on a diet didn’t do anything differently and it was gone within two weeks

Nice concise vid. I have Lyme, 10 years and counting, brain fog and fatigue are my 2 worst symptoms. I have been writhing in pain on occasion from stomach pain, a pain that is indescribable and comes in waves, also makes me diaphoretic. Blood does come out in stools on occasion. I'm convinced that my microbiom is a disaster, and I have taken steps to repair my gut. Question: will an extended water fast reset my gut bacteria? I am more than willing to do this if it will help, as I have become that desperate. Thank you.

@@DrRuscioDC Hi I have tried l-glutamine for gut but after I eat it I started feeling anxiety and strong depression for a while I had to stop taking it.. why is that? One more question is, can I eat potatoes on FODMAP ? I have adrenal fatigue and I feel better with some carbs... than without it.. I need optimal sugar levels, but without potatoes, vegetables (mostly boiled) Is not enough for me to give me some sugars/carbs is it OK ? Will It improve my symptoms if I do some "consicous mistakes" ? I do not eat fruits, grains, legumes, just trying something like GAPS but with potatoes because I have to.

Yes they can cause brain fog. Doctor should start you on a low dose first then gradually increase the dose until you get used to it.

He has probably got a virus of some sort. A viral illness can lead to fainting episodes, and headaches too. But what you describe is not ‘brain-fog’ .

Hi Daria, During the FODMAP elimination diet you remove high FODMAP foods for 4-6 weeks. Once your digestive symptoms subside, you add high FODMAP foods back into your diet during the FODMAP reintroduction phase. It is a similar process with eliminating and reintroducing high Histamine foods as well. I have M.E & the main issue is with brain fog, it recently started to get better but I did a 24hr fast & came out of it too quickly I think & now have the worst brain fog ever, I was doing so well too 🙈, I am also reacting to anything I eat with bloating etc I am vegetarian, can I fix this with diet & what foods will help me?

unfortunately, there are vegetables that are high in FODMAPs like onions and garlic for example. I have a mild allergy to wheat and cannot eat Fructose either (found in Soda, juices, packaged breads, some commercial cereals, etc.) otherwise I get Post nasal drip and painful intestinal cramps. Try cutting out stuff with fructose and if possible go to the doctor to rule out allergens.

Dr. Ruscio is perfectly right. Brain fog may have many causes though I think HAVING A PERFECT DIET IS ALMOS IMPOSSIBLE. I went on low histamine low, oxalate , low carbs, zero sugar and processed food for months and week with vitamin b12, d3 supplements. I felt a slight improvement in my mood but nothing in brain fog. I felt too tired following all these diets and lost 10kg(68kg to 58kg) within few monts. I had been b12 deficient for roughly 2 years and now i am on injections for 1.5 month. But still no improvement. Any suggestions?

I thought I would get better if I change me diet, take supplements and do whatever I can possibly do. But no change. It takes me far more than average time to understand simple things. Can't focus what my professor is saying in the lecture.I feel like I am a dumb. could have a negative effect on many! The phytic acid in almonds can damage the gut lining. Now 5-6 shouldn't be enough to cause any issues in most people, but for someone who already has a damaged gut lining, it could be an issue. Now I'm not saying almonds aren't healthy because they are, full of beneficial nutrients! However, I wouldn't consider them a staple in any gut healing protocol, honestly, they're more of a food to add in later once the gut is healed to test if you are ok with them.

So i have had stomach issues for as long as i can remember, ive been treated for amoeba issues, gas etc. I went to a doc he did an abdominal scan he then told me i only have alittle gas nothing much is wrong with my stomach but i have stomach issues which even makes me sick. And it is three month i get adhd medication which improves my pain to basically no pain AS Long AS the medication is in the blood. But the brain fog is There once in a while. It is probably both. Do you experience anxiety and negative or OCD thought patterns? Repressed trauma stress or feelings? Thats Dp/Dr. But since according to holistic healing cleansing your gut can probably help (mind body connection)

By the way it's completely safe to go up to 2 weeks without eating a single thing before it gets potentially dangerous. If you can't go to days without eating something something is wrong

It really depends on your situation but bloating is generally from excess gas, excess gas is generally from too much bacteria, too much bacteria could be from a number of things, low stomach acid, weak immune system, consuming too many fermentable foods/FODMAPs(fermentable oligo-, di-, mono-saccharides, and polyols) I would try a low fodmap diet and see if it helps. Do a little research on SIBO(small intestine bacterial overgrowth) There's a lot of info regarding SIBO on Dr. Ruscio's website. SIBOsurivor and SIBOinfo are two other good resources. Personally what's helped me most has been a low FODMAP diet and taking Betaine HCL but I would do your own research and maybe consult with a doctor before taking Betaine HCL(not 100% necessary in my opinion but if you aren't fully confident in doing it alone and in your own research it may be helpful)

Taking the time to heal your gut can help relieve brain fog. When patients underwent a low FODMAP diet, they actually saw an improvement in their brain fog. High FODMAP foods can feed bacteria and worsen a condition known as SIBO, or small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. Horrible way to answer this but... It depends! Basically, it depends what your gut bacteria is like to start with, if you have mostly bad bacteria in the gut to start with then probiotics may help since they could populate the gut with good bacteria and create a hostile environment for the bad bacteria, however, they may not because they'll be going into your gut full of bad bacteria which likely wouldn't allow them to survive. The green bananas definitely not! Green bananas are a form of prebiotic which feeds bacteria, but both good and bacteria, so if your gut is already populated with bad bacteria you would just be feeding it. Now if you were starting with good gut bacteria then both would be beneficial, the prebiotics in the banana would feed the good bacteria and allow them to be strong and healthy and the probiotics would allow for a regular infusion of good bacteria allowing for a regular infusion of good bacteria. One note though I'm not sure how healthy taking probiotics long term is. Personally, I cycle them, one month on one month off.
