The longer TFL is on RU-vid, the more the camaraderie between all of you comes out. I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to compare you guys to the top gear crew. Information is great, but the interaction between the hosts and their personalities is really what makes the show. Great job guys! 👍

I don't have kids of my own, only grown step kids, and would have no reason to need a mini-van but I would still drive the heck out of this! Its so good looking, retro/modern style, and what seems like a really nice and useful interior. Thanks guys for sharing this!

This is the only minivan I would accept in my house. Too cool and would likely be a vehicle that really could shift perception of electric vehicles given it's style and functionality compared to current EVs.

Am I the only one who thinks that this is the perfect size? We need the short wheelbase! It's not like there's a shortage of huge vehicles available... It looks awesome in this size, and not everyone needs a 7-seat vehicle. Volkswagen Canada and Volkswagen of America need to listen. :)

I think the added wheelbase may be needed to offer the max range model they intend to sell here. I for one am grateful that they're even bringing it to the U.S. at all, as VW has been very skittish about it from the beginning. Given the mass unpredictability of the U.S. car buyer, I don't blame them.

I hope VW is prepared to crank these out of their factories. Demand is going to be sky high. Like many others have said, it’s actually a minivan I want. I’m not saying that about any other brand.

I absolutely love the design (being a child of the early 70's). It's the epitome of "retro cool". I just hope that whenever it makes it here all the bugs have been worked out. Something that VW is not known for........

This is one of the few VWs that’s ever caught my eye. I like 98% of its overall design. And I love how useful it seems! Idk if I’m one of the few that feels we need more 2 row SUVs with massive rear compartments and less 3rd rows for amputees.

There will be a longer wheel based version available in the USA with 6 or 7 seats. It will also have a bigger battery option. It is initially a rear wheel drive unit, and will have a dual motor 4 wheel drive option too. The towing limit is 1,000kg. The second level rear floor is an option, and it is removable, without tools.

I really like that offering... I would not be interested in the 3 row offering, unless the 3rd row seats come out. With a long range update, and, reasonable price, that would be a nice addition. I like it better for every day use over most suv's.

Agree, so they'll take any real utility out of the vehicle, add a few inches in length and shove in a barely useable, barely used 3rd row that will eat up cargo capacity. So tired of this trend. A two row version of the SUV/Van like this or the Highlander or Palisade would be at the top of my my list to replace my 05 Outback wagon.

The charging curve is pretty stable on 170kw for a long time - look at Tesla Bjørn who test it in Norway.

I really like the flip out trailer hitch. Unfortunately we have so many lawyers in the US that it would probably never come here. I had a Passat 4Motion wagen which was built in Germany, but sold in the US and Europe and the European version could tow 4,000 pounds, where the American one was limited to 500 pounds. It was the identical car off the same assembly line, but the US version was full of lawyers.

That would be fun, but parts bin sharing is inevitable to controlling price. Personally, I like the I.D family lights on the front. It helps to bring the modern from the past design element into play.

For aesthetics I would have placed the charginging port underneath the VW badge. The badge could be hinged to open, this would eliminate the need to have the UGLY charging port door on the rear passenger side of the vehicle. Otherwise nice vehicle.

Is probably necessary because the normal A-pillar already restricts the view in its current strength. With my Id 3, I am always startled when a vehicle suddenly appears from the blind spot of the A-pillar

I'm lucky enough to be taking one for a test drive this Saturday as I'm in the UK but I have already been told by the dealership 9 to 12 months from ordering. And it is rated to tow 1000kg in the UK. Really enjoy the stuff you do and stop moaning you only have 3 EV pickups for sale in the States we have NONE yet😁

I have that very same hide-away hitch on my US spec 2022 Volvo XC60 T8. It is so cool and quite surprised my local U-Haul dealer when I needed to rent a utility trailer. It is an expensive option but works great. It never drags going over a curb cut. The only difference it does not have a fixed ball. I guess in Europe they pretty much standardize ball size. Mine has a standard 1" receiver so I can add any ball size or bicycle rack if I like.

Would really love to own one of these. VW has been teasing it for years, but it's been just vaporware. Hopefully, it'll make it to the U.S. sooner than later, and not be overpriced to the point only the 1% can afford the thing.

Nice video, just 1 correction. The VW MEB platform is actually Rear Wheel Drive. So this ID Buzz is 201hp RWD, and the AWD models have a 2nd motor up front

The european CCS supports 3 phase which is really useful as it can triple the type 2 charging rate and most destination chargers are 11/22 kW AC. (though I think it is limited to 11kW in VW cars).

I love how VW puts the binnacle on the steering column. That's a much better solution for visibility that swapping the steering wheel for a friggin' yoke.

We had a 1992 Lumina APV van and it has similar front windows. Couldn't reach the bottom of window shield and had similar windows in front of A pillars.

I really love the Euro Buzz for America from seeing online. I do believe they could sell the Euro version in America and just drop the regular VERY uninspiring ID4. If priced decently this would sell well with its cool looks and large internal usable volume. They do need to sell this perfect sized model in America. Please do a full driving and living with review on it when you can.

So I’ve driven an old bus given to us as new parents. Lots of fun. Bought used Vanagon, drove it everyday for work and schools/kids games. Bought the last model Eurovan with Westfalia in 2001, that was brand new, we still have it. It was my commuter car + Los of memories in it with kids, camping, long drives, games, etc… My husband bought another used Vanagon, he missed the first one. Now I have the ID4, coming on 2 years now and my husband told me to trade it in for this. Our kids are all grown up, youngest is 21. No grandkids but we’ll see what happens next year😂 I still commute to work and I’d be very happy with the European version of this, I don’t need the 3 row version. And yes, we still have the Eurovan and a Vanagon, my husband and I each have our Audi’s, me plus the ID4😅

Would definitely consider this Euro 2 row version with the shelving system in the back! But since 'Merica has to have a barely useable/barely used 3rd row stuffed into everything, this great looking mini-van is off my list. My smaller family doesn't need a 3rd row, we do need more cargo capacity.

I owned a 64 and a 71 bug, a 74 Sirocco and a 78 Rabbit diesel. The reliability was great on them all although the latter two were serious rust buckets. I paid $1200 for the Sirocco and that was the most expensive one.

It's rear wheel drive, just like the others ID cars, Andre says it's front wheel. In USA you will probably have a 100kWh battery in the long wheelbase. IQ light is for the models with led matrix. Ergo thing in the seats it's because they have massage in both front seats

His height and the van size keep changing with the annoying use of a camera that distorts the image and makes it very difficult to get a realistic feeling of the vans size and dimensions.🤔

There will be a 1 feet longer version with optional AWD in 2024. Some say that this version will get the largest possible battery of 111kWh of the MEB platform. But this is not official.

In the 1950s and 60s, the VW bus introduced the idea of a vehicle that was shorter than many cars, yet still able to hold 7 or even 8 passengers. My only hope is that Volkswagen gets a grasp over the buggy infotainment interface, and yet is able to sell it for an affordable price.

My Partner and I are watching this very closely. This will make a great trip and convention vehicle. We would be easily served with the short wheelbase model, but that may be a limiting factor for what they intend to offer the U.S. I theorize the added wheelbase may be needed to have space to house the battery they will be needing to spec the 350ish mile range that was being dangled when they initially announced production and sale in the US was going to happen.

I think the US is only getting the long wheelbase and larger battery even though the shorter wheelbase would be cool. I had a 1985 Toyota Van where the 2nd and 3rd row seats folded flat to turn the entire back into a large bed. Otherwise they could be removed and stored somewhere

Great looking vehicle. The rear windows (at least the second row) should open and have their own separate switches on the driver door as well as in back. The center console being removable is neat, but should by default easily snap back into place by just setting it down near where it was. The infotainment system and capacitive "buttons" on the steering wheel (and hopefully elsewhere) will be changed but how in the world did VW not do any usability testing which would have clearly shown that those features are bad before they released them on the ID.4?

I think it does snap right back in. I've seen the European channels remove and reinstall it easily. I think Andre was rushing a bit and missing the latch.

This thing looks great. Surprised this configuration didn't have a third row standard. Unsure that I would want a five seater van, even though I mentioned it looks great. If they give me a third row with a decent moonroof option and are able to come in under $55k (I know I'm asking a lot), this will be in my driveway next to the model Y. Extra bonus if it comes in a lime green or even orange (orrery sure I've seen orange). As far as the cup holders, part of me agrees, but if this thing sells well you'll have a billion and a half third party options. I think this will prove to be very popular. All the pluses of a van but you don't feel like a loser van driver lol.

Reminds me of the '73 bay window Type 2 my father bought - that had fixed rear windows as well and it was never an issue for us. What I would have given back then for 200 hp over the air cooled 1600 with 50-odd.

I don't know how it is in your country, but in Germany there is no longer a subsidy for hybrid vehicles.

@@wolfman9999999 I checked on the Id4 a while ago . and it varies by location.. and that made me nervous. I think most people don't realize how important this is in elec cars.

Nice video. VW needs to stop showing this off and actually getting them on dealer lots for sale. As you guys said, this has been a show car for about 4 years. Time to get them on lots, that's the only way VW can make money is to SELL them. It's disappointing this is projected as a 2024 car....
