Good information Melis. As an electrolysist practicing for over 40 years, I would like to add a couple of points. The issue you have with white spots after using water is because water can hold bacteria. If someone wants to use water on their skin, they can use saline water(water boiled with some salt in it).You can also buy saline ready made in a pharmacy. I was trained to use warm water after the session followed by calamine lotion, however, as the area gets hot, my clients prefer to cool the area. Jane iredale is a very good brand I also use. The zinc oxide in the powders are very healing so I apply it straight afterwards and advise clients to sleep with it on. In order to cover the redness it is important to use a yellow based colour, ie warm colour as opposed to a cool one which has more pink in it, or a neutral tone if you hate the yellow tones. I do not recommend squeezing the white spots as some people can really traumatise their skin and get pigmentation issues especially if the have darker skins. If they have a problem, I ask them to come in so I can do it myself so I am not damaging the skin. Yes, some of my clients use Emla. There is a technique in applying it. I give them instructions how to use it. It comes in a very small tube (5gms) and a large one of 30gms. Get the large one if doing the jaw area as you need to apply a lot of product. Of course, the most important thing is to find a good therapist for the treatment to be successful and not to get scarring. Hope this information is helpful to your subscribers.
yes emla cream is very good. i used it for my little ones when they were going in for thier immunization shots. works very well. put on about 30 to 40 mins ahead of time
Before my electrolysis session I apply aloe vera gel the night before and again right before my appointment. I also make sure I drink water before I go and accept offer of water from the electrologist before I get the treatment.
I use to do numbing and an Advil. I don't think I really need it anymore. My time doing elec has gone down, I typically go 1 time a month since 2020. I think I would be further if I went more frequently. I don't take an hour for chin and neck anymore.
Melissa I had electrolysis performed on my face with a machine that you have to hold something in your hand it was a bit painful and did around 17 sessions ,I see a difference! I move to another place where she uses another machine it is apilus x cell ! Is that a good electrolysis tool? She said to me that the electrolysis machine that was used on me is outdated and therefore it was painful
Thank you ♡ I do get electrolysis on my upper/lowe lips including eye area because of my PCOS. One question do you think its safe to bha 2% liquid exfoliate (chemical exfoliate) between my sessions? My sessions are like every two or three weeks. Thank you
Yes but it's advised to space out the days. If your electrolysis appointment is at the end of the week, you can apply the BHA at the beginning of the week to spread it out so your skin doesn't get irritated. After your electrolysis appointment, wait a good few days until your skin has healed before applying BHA again (so you don't irritate your skin)
How many sessions did you do? And how much time did it take to get rid of all of it? Do you recommend it? I tried laser for about 4 years now and it hasn’t done anything for me, except maybe make it worse.
I do recommend electrolysis it’s really helped. You can watch this video where I explain everything and show before & after pictures: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fwE21IebEkY.html
Ohh noo don’t worry this happens and at least you know for next time not to touch the area. Make sure you keep it clean, keep putting the aftercare product on 2-3 times a day and it will heal!
It depends on the area you get it done and does vary from one person to another. Just to give you an average guide: facial hair = around 1-2 weeks body hair around 4-6 weeks.
It depends on your pain threshold and the area you get it done. I personally don’t find it painful on the chin area. When I had it done on the chest area, it felt more uncomfortable but I’ve never had to use numbing cream. I hope this helps x
@@melisatesbel thanks yes that helps so much! I’m just turning 19 in May and feel so alone in my journey. I do have hirsutism as I have chest hair too but it’s very light and mild form but all my life it’s been eating me up when no one believes me. It’s legit there and GP told me I’m crazy Etc my mum doenst understand but at least a diagnosis would help from the GP. Hitsuitsm is hard to diagnose if blood tests are normal but I know my androgen levels aren’t. They are most likely higher hence the excessive hair on upper arms. I would like to ask you does blood tests check hormone levels particularly androgens or no? Or how does one check for androgen levels. Instead they think I have PCOS and ignoring my hirsuitsm. Also I want to do laser for my chest but not sure if laser is better or electrolysis. I’m doing electrolysis for my full face.
@@user-vl7km5ex2l Yes so I told the GP about my symptoms and they sent me to have blood tests to check hormones and an ultrasound to see if I have cysts. Blood tests showed high levels of the male hormones in my body. I don’t have cysts in my ovaries but they still diagnosed me with PCOS because I have a chance to develop cysts. Laser works best on hair that is dark and thick so from what you have described I’m not sure if laser would work. I would recommend booking a consultation in a few different salons and clinics.
Hi Melis, I have watched all your videos and watched some of your videos multiple times. In most of your videos you are with makeup, so it becomes hard for me to see the side effects of your electrolysis treatment. I watched a video of yours without makeup, i see that you have dark color dots (scars) on the sides of your lips and also somewhere on chin (if i am not wrong). As per your videos you have been getting electrolysis since last 5.5 years. You are getting results and maintaining now, but you are also getting side effects. You showed us white colour dots(pigmentation), i appreciated that but you are not showing dark color dots which you have around your lips and chin. Can you please clear my doubt. Those dark coloured dots are scars developed by electrolysis? Please reply, your experience is helpful in our learning. Thanks...
Hi those marks are from breakouts not electrolysis. I also don’t get electrolysis done on my lip. I did experience dark marks at the start of my electrolysis journey but they all healed. I will make a video about this to help 😊
It means she's not destroying the follicle, she's just tweezing. You're just throwing your money away. You should only feel the heat from the probe but not the actual hair coming out.
@@roshelleym6219 yes! I now realise this as I have found someone who is doing it totally right. My face was much more swollen and needed more recovery time too. Feel like I was scammed by the other person!
Same here! I was going to someone for months and saw no results. I'm now seeing another electrolysis and it feels more like a burn/sting than a little zap. I should've done more research, so mad I wasted so much money with someone that didn't know what they were doing. Good luck, hope you get good results!
