I had RNY Gastric Bypass on December 1, 2020 at Mexico Bariatric Center in Tijuana Mexico with Dr. Rodriguez Lopez. This is a what I eat in a day video spanning two typical full days of eating for me 14 months post-op. I believe in showing more than one day to give a better idea of the kinds of food that I eat, because things vary so much from day to day and I want to be honest and truthful about what I eat after surgery.
I am not a nutritionist or a dietitian, so please don't take this information as the way you should be eating or the proper way to do anything by any means. I am just a girl trying to follow her nutritionist's advice as best she can while living her life. I'm not perfect and that's okay!

Hi. Another enjoyable and informative video! I'm also 14 months post RNY. I struggled with the fact that I'm moving away from the scale also but can gage pretty much what I'm eating also without always counting macros. So seeing that this works for you makes me feel more confident in my decision. I have a major concern however. Before surgery..not only because I was diabetic..I had no real hunger for sweets. Now it's my go to craving!! I did find a wonderful gummie on Amazon called Binge that is 1 to 3 gm sugar depending on flavor for entire 50 gm bag and 88 calories and best part..23 gm Fibre which is much needed lol. I can't wait for your next video. 💜. Btw you are looking fantastic!

I can totally relate - my sweet tooth has started to come back since my surgery and I definitely eat more sugar now than I did right after surgery. I'm working hard to rein it in. I'm starting with similar things to what you described on Amazon - sugar free candies and things that are a BETTER choice, even though probably not necessary, but the Smart Sweets I like have a lot of fiber so at least I'm getting that out of it! I'm trying to break the habit of ending my meal with a sweet treat but man, that's a hard one to break when you've done it your whole life. Thankfully most real-sugar desserts still upset my tummy for the most part so I try to rely on that to get me through. Cutting out sugar during the pre-op stage really helped kill those cravings and I've considered doing it again but that's such a huge thing! For now I'm working on being mindful about my habits.

@@1FatBeet appreciate the response. Perhaps you could speak on transference of habits etc on a video. I for one would find that very interesting but you truly are an inspiration.

about feeling full..I had a vertical sleeve gastrectomy 8 years ago ( went from 640 lbs-250 lbs ) .I have not felt hunger since i woke up on the recovery table. i will be eating and suddenly start hiccuping. i know if i eat one more bite i will throw up. the hiccups are my warning signal but i know i can eat about 12-14 oz of food my full feeling is more like going from feeling normal to how we used to feel 15 minutes after eating on xmas day at grandmas house with a full spread with no warning its coming

Thank you for your great content. I am prep op for gastric sleeve. Have you previously addressed how you manage the guidance to separate eating and drinking after surgery? My surgeon’s guidance is to stop drinking 30 minutes before eating and to wait 60 minutes after eating to drink again. Fitting in 3 meals and a couple of snacks and 64 oz of liquid definitely seems tough with that guidance. It seems a bit overwhelming to track this for life, so I’m wondering how much it’s actually done in practice. Obviously I’d prefer to follow their guidance as much as possible, but I’m just not sure tracking those long gaps are doable for me for life.

I'm attempting to heal my relationship with food, prior to surgery... It's not going great. My Nutritionist says I need to get out of the "diet mentality" but I don't know how to do that! I'm doing my best, but I don't know what the right thing is. I'm meeting with the Medical Weight Loss team tomorrow. My Nutritionist thinks that I might benefit from trying some medications - to see what it will feel like after I have the surgery. I'm really hoping that they are able to give me something that works - and that I can afford. :)

The "diet mentality" is everywhere, and I still find it creeping into my thoughts! It's so tough to reprogram our brains, and unlearn all of the bad information we've followed for so long. What do you struggle with the most?

@@1FatBeet when you figure that out, let me know! I wish I would have known about the taste changes after surgery before I bought all that syrup! I do love the fruity ones in my smoothies. I make a killer sugar free cheesecake, maybe I will experiment with that!
