I am forever grateful that I discovered Amanda’s channel over a year ago. I have made progress on my journey, but still have a ways to go before I hit my goal. Counting calories gives me freedom to eat all foods, and reach my health goals..My blood pressure was high at the beginning of my journey, and it is normal now.🥰Still have a long way to go, but health feels good..Love your videos and your nails!!💚🥰💚🥰💚

I count calories as well while eating low carb. I started out with high blood pressure and on 2 meds. My doctor just moved me to 1 med only on yesterday and I’m down 50 lbs since November.

Thank you for talking about people who are anti-weight loss. Everyone’s body journey is different. I grew up as an overweight child and I’m an example of someone who has gotten comments when I was “too skinny” or “too fat”. I just want to feel good and so thank you for encouraging making choices to support that.

I’m catching up on some videos. I soooooo needed this chat about dieting and body positivity. I’ve gotten sucked into the internet and all the “anti diet” and it’s played tricks on my mind. I’ve felt like I’m wrong for tracking my food. love your videos!!! ❤️

I’ve been there before but your definitely not! Those anti diet women who so happens they usually are small and haven’t experienced being overweight and or obese haven’t lived in your shoes. Anyone who has experienced pain from carrying extra weight would never say losing weight and tracking food is bad or unhealthy ! So keep doing what works for you 😘💕

It’s wonderful that at your age you are loving your body. At 52 watching my body change has been a nightmare & extremely difficult to except. Watching the over 50 RU-vidrs are not helpful. These women look crazy amazing and it’s hard to relate. Stay positive and beautiful. 💕🌸💞

Yes. 1000%. I fully believe that counting calories and tracking my food is what is helping me to feel like I am finally gaining some control over my eating. I’ve been overweight my entire life. Since about the age of 9. I got the biggest I have ever been about a month ago. I was 292lbs. It’s horrible. I almost couldn’t buckle the seatbelt on an airplane in February. Devastating. I am making changes and I’ve already lost 10lbs. It feels good to feel like I have some control over something that has felt so out of control for so long . Tracking my food and eating in a calorie deficit is making all the difference. Even when I thought I was eating healthy it was unreal how many calories I was actually eating and I see that now !!

I agree w/taking ur time cause it’s a “journey!” I don’t necessarily count calories on an app! I practice intermittent fasting & eat healthy foods within a 2-6 hr window! It allows me to eat a variety of foods & I don’t weigh on the scale! I just gauge how I feel & how my clothing fits! I’m finding I love this lifestyle much better than obsessing over what & how much I eat!! Keep up the great work! I love watching u and the lifestyle ur following! 💕💖

I have lost 54 pounds and still have about 100 more to lose. My highest weight was 317. I was so comfortable when I was bigger. I could hardly walk, was always in pain, started having major health issues and was afraid I would break chairs when I went to places. I'm losing weight to feel better and to live longer and be healthier. Yes it's nice to look better in clothes, but it gets to a point when it's more about health and comfort.

cosmic crisp apples are delicious!!! if you haven't tried opal apples those are really good as well. both are my favorite for snacking. and you are so right about if you haven't had trouble with weight in the past its hard for people to really relate and know exactly how hard it is and how it is not only to lose the weight but to also keep it off. thank you for speaking about this . and everyone has To do what works for them, there is no one miracle diet , pill or program or way to do this weight loss journey and everyone is different . thank you agin really do appreciate all your conversations and your content , and honesty. side note - love seeing your pups in your video, missed them in this one. thanks again.

I agree. I haven’t found a happy balance of self-love with weight loss, but I’ve noticed the same thing and come to the conclusion you have to do what’s best for you. Some people who struggle with body dysmorphia or low self esteem should include a therapist and/or a dietician (or nutritionist -can’t remember which one is which) in their weight loss journey (this is coming from someone who is considering that) but people shouldn’t be feeling bad for doing something that is helpful to them like counting calories. For some, that’s the perfect self-awareness tool for what’s going in their body. I feel like there are definitely people who are capitalizing now on self-love, instead of dieting, with information not necessarily backed by research, but instead telling people what they want to hear. Both can be equally dangerous if people are monetarily invested. I do feel like there are some great self-love influencers, but we just have to be careful in what we are soaking in.

10000% agree, tracking your food does not mean you don't love yourself. Its also not inherently "unhealthy" to do so either. Of course there are cases of people with severe eating disorders, but if that's not you, then tracking your intake should not be seen as a negative thing. Love your videos!

I gained a lot of weight during both of my pregnancies but have lost 76lb in 10 months through CC and high protein meals. I have a ton of self love but just feel better when I'm a few dress sizes smaller :) Love your nails!!! 💚

I completely agree with the counting calorie thing. Some people who haven’t been overweight or don’t struggle with weight currently, seem to want to preach the idea that you can just cut back and live a healthy lifestyle and not calorie count. That doesn’t work for me and never has. Everybody is different and every metabolism is different. Food addictions versus non-food addictions, etc. make that point moot! People that don’t use food as a reward process and don’t have addictive issues with food will never understand that calorie counting is pretty much the only way for someone us.

I’ve been a follower for quite some time and I can honestly say you’re talk about the anti weight loss people was SPOT ON. I respect you so much for that! Most people don’t get it when you carry so much extra weight, it’s exhausting and frustrating. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to take care of yourself, I have battled with that argument for months in my own head!! Currently on my own journey to lose 50 pounds and the people who always preach “self love” “love yourself” just don’t really get it, I can love myself and want to better myself. 💛

There is absolutely NOT anything wrong with counting your calories in a healthy way. I feel like the people that advocate against “calorie counting “ are really against the habitual dieting and binge eating. Which can definitely be triggered by restricting. (Coming from experience)It is a very tight rope. A lot of people don’t do the mental work that it takes to get to a healthy place where you can eat intuitively without restricting. Which I personally feel is important. I have been “dieting “ since I was probably 15 and I’ll be 33 this year. It has taken me almost the entire time to get to the point that I am now. I am “aware” of my calorie intake but I don’t obsess over it and I still enjoy my life and food.

I do agree it's always thinner women who push this idea that losing weight is bad. they genuinely don't understand the horrible mental state and the physical pain that comes with being obese. I also just don't understand how wanting to take care of my physical health is anti self love and fatphobic🙄🙄 I'm on a weight loss journey, and I've lost 12 pounds so far😊😊 (just 118 to go haha!) I love your channel so much and I love how real you keep it. I've been watching you since you were on WW!💖I've been trying to lose weight for 2+ years and it wasn't until I started being kinder to myself and working on my mental health and binge eating as well that I've started to see consistent results and I feel amazing and weight loss feels possible!💗💗

I totally agree with you Amanda. I have been thinking about this whole intuitive eating push now. I make choices about what is healthy because if not I would rather eat pizza a lot of the time. There is an obesity epidemic in this country and that leads to type to diabetes and high blood pressure along with many other health problems. I was following a nutritionist that just would not stop with the disordered eating comments about anyone who was watching their food intake. She had an entire video putting down WW. I am lifetime and I track my food every day and I am at a good weight and very healthy. It is always the skinny women getting down on choices to monitor calories. Anorexia and bulimia are the problem not trying to be at a healthy weight. I think sometimes in the process of looking for a new topic to push we go round in a circle but it is going to have to come back to diet because a diet is really just what you eat every day and it is healthy to be aware of that. You look very pretty in green!

A lot of times the people that are referring to tracking calories as a bad thing is people that have struggled with disordered eating habits in the past, because it can become a slippery slope back to those thoughts and behaviors. Otherwise, I completely agree that it is definitely okay for people that haven’t struggled in the past and are able to do it in way that it doesn’t consume them if they’re doing it for their overall health and how they feel! :)

👏 👏 👏 Yes. Just yes. I understand that everyone may feel uncomfortable with their bodies, but it's different when society also doesn't feel comfortable with your body and let's you know. And yes you can say F it, but it still is an additional obstacle to get over that smaller bodied people don't have to face. And yes, they may have body stigmas too, but give someone the choice of being too thin or too big (to where it's uncomfortable), they're going to choose to be thinner

I actually bought the same Iodine because I don't use table salt, but then I learned that iodine is in a lot of the foods I eat on a regular basis and in my multi-vitamin....and then I got scared about having too much Iodine because apparently too little is bad but so is too much and I'm a scaredy cat like that 😬 (Iodine is in eggs, milk, yogurt, cheese, shrimp, tuna, cod...)

I usually don't comment, so for me to comment twice on this same video is really saying something lol I have A LOT to say about this anti-diet movement and most of it is not nice so I'll control my fingers here. I'll just say that yes, you can love yourself and want to change yourself at the same time. Yes, you can accept yourself as you are but still want to improve yourself. Using that as an anti-diet argument is asinine. I have no issue with people not wanting to lose weight. That means I deserve the same in return if I personally DO want to lose weight. We are such a judgmental society and social media has amplified that. I didn't want to be obese anymore. So, I changed that. I'm not obese anymore....are you telling me I'm a bad person now??? Get the hell out of here. I'm a proud and accomplished person. I set a goal and I met it. I have a love hate relationship with calories in/calories out. Doesn't mean it's not true or doesn't work. It does work. The fact that companies can lie on food labels pisses me off and makes it harder to accurately track, but it doesn't immediately lead to "CICO and deficits don't work". It works, it's just harder than say, cutting carbs out of your diet. Or sugar, or gluten, or meat, or fruit, or...It's HARD. Counting calories is work. Weighing and measuring your food is work. Logging your food is tedious. Apps certainly make it easier...back in my day we had to buy a book and look stuff up and write it down and add things up in our head!!! lol, ok, I'm oldish. But, apps seriously make it so much easier! And know a way to make it even easier??? Plan your day the night before or that morning. You probably know what you're going to eat anyhow. I find that it takes the pressure off and makes me feel less stressed about it. At that point, it's me just measuring my food and following a plan. I enjoy my food and know that I'm hitting my macro goals without trying to figure stuff out on the fly. Great content as usual Amanda!! Omg yes 🙌🏼 the Beachbody coaches that tell their “fat girl” sob story. And the only time they were over weight was post partum and it was like 30 pounds. Like shut uppppp and stop acting like you’re a success story for big girls being like “if it worked for me it will work for you!”

@@AmandaLewis for sure! It’s been so hard to stay on track with my 3 kids home (13, 6 and 3 year old (pandemic/Spring break etc) and freezing cold weather (Canada) !! I feel like I’ve been using food for comfort to deal with stress lots lately…. I need to get back at it…. Ugh. Love your videos and you are doing great!!!

Also, too many people are not conscious of what they put in their body, and you are watching things and tracking things and being mindful of what you eat and drink and how much or often you move your body! That is amazing! More people need to be more aware of what they are doing with themselves. Pay for your health now (living healthy/active) or pay for it later (sickness/poor health)
