Kari another informative video. I have to say after being educated on what happens to a body during an embalming procedure and prep for viewing and the burial, I can’t believe people are more ready to have this done and so against cremation. Everyone that I have known is so against cremation saying that it is so barbaric. I don’t think any of these people have a clue about what happens to the body preparing it for the viewing and burial. When someone goes no make arrangements do they ever ask about the procedure? I know I never have. Gives us all something to think about.🧐

An excellent video Kari ! People must be educated....The viewing of a loved one is for the living and this is the necessary procedure that MUST be taken for that to happen. As a retired professional, I chose to have my late husband viewed in his bed by the immediate family. He was then taken afterward for cremation. My family saw my husband in his natural death state. He looked like he was sleeping peacefully. Then, after cremation, we had a regular burial at the burial site of his ashes. This is what my husband had requested and I complied with his wishes. I told my children these were my wishes too ! Like I said the viewing is for the living...and, that's Ok, but I chose a different way. People must be educated ! Thank you for sharing this fantastic video....Many blessings to you and your Family. :)

That scared the hell out of me the first time I saw it used and I am sure I winched every time after that. Interesting that the embalmer that I worked with and taught me never did do a brain asperation. It is also used to administer the Cavity Fluid, think you forgot that part cause it exceeded 2 min. LOL We would asperate right after embalming, and then inject the cavity fluid and then would remove the button and asperate again just before dressing and casketing. There were a few times where we had to take a casketed body back and asperate just before a service. Wish they would put a LOVE button cause I so love what you post.

Ah yes, the trocar... the thing that made me wonder if I could ever do mortuary school. Just looking at it, I want to crouch down and cover my abdomen, lol. I was warned that many students faint and some even drop out after they have to watch a trocar be used. It's gruesome to think about, yet a necessary step in the process. I guess it's important to remember that the body that is being aspirated is not alive anymore. Their spirit is in Heaven, their brain no longer functions, and they cannot feel anything.

@@KaritheMortician Thanks for replying! The movie is definitely worth a watch for Bill Paxton's performance alone. It's a low budget B movie, but a very entertaining one nonetheless. Paxton definitely has a lot of fun with his role and goes over the top with it. During the film, the process of embalming is shown. Not in its entirety, but a few of the stages such as aspirating the body with the trocar. I got curious about the process which took me on a search and I landed on this video. Thank you for posting it as it's very informative and educational. I look watching your other videos as well.
