Martin Luther did not want to break from the church Catholic. That is why it is called the reformation he was trying to reform. The Pope labeled them Lutheran and excommunicated them. The pope also ordered many of them killed. Luther and Phillip both extensively stated that compromises were necessary for church unity. It is very much so the case that Lutherans were cut off by the Catholic church, we did not leave it

Why the collar?
@HopeLutheranChurchWestJordanUT
@HopeLutheranChurchWestJordanUT 2 года назад
There are two main reasons why I wear a clerical collar. One is purely practical, it marks me as a pastor, whether I am at my church or out somewhere else. People will often come up and ask me religious questions because I'm wearing a collar, so they figure I'll be willing to talk to them about what they are wondering. A second reason is because the clerical collar represents the responsibility of the pastoral office, going off of what Jesus says about how it would be better for one who causes one of the little ones who believes in him to sin to have a millstone put around his neck and cast into the sea. - Pastor Webber

@@cranmer1959 The Holy Bible says you can know you are saved. If you receive Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, trusting him alone for the forgiveness of all your sin, then you are born again of the Spirit of God. No church, no "sacraments", no good works can give that. Only saving faith in Jesus Christ and his blood atonement at Calvary. "He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. @@RealBobEvans I do not disagree that the Bible teaches that you can attain assurance of salvation. Knowing that you are saved is defined by the Bible, especially in 1 John. The entire epistle tells you how to know that you are saved. The question is, are you walking in the light or are you walking in the darkness? These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (1 Jn. 5:13 KJV) All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. 18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. (1 Jn. 5:17-18 KJV) And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. Transubstantiation is a Catholic belief that the bread and wine in the Eucharist are actually the body and the blood. It's my understanding Lutherans reject it actually being His body and blood but still believe during the Eucharist that He is objectively present. Then there's consubstantiation. It teaches the body and the blood are present alongside the presence of the elements of bread and wine.

The Lord Jesus Christ said ye must be born again. According to the Bible, being "born again" or born of the Spirit happens when we realize that we're sinners headed for Hell, and we place our trust SOLELY in Jesus Christ and his shed blood on the Christ for the forgiveness of sin and eternal salvation. "That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise" - Ephesians 1:12-13 If you are trusting in water baptism, or your church membership, or any other work for your salvation, then you are not trusting Jesus Christ alone by faith alone. The Lutheran doctrine of baptismal regeneration will send people to Hell if they were never truly born again, because it tells people to trust in the WORK of water baptism (yes, it is a work) instead of faith alone in God. "I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius...For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect." - 1 Corinthians 1:14,17 "But as many as received him [Jesus Christ], to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." - John 1:12-13

@@richardsaintjohn8391 I speak the truth in love to you friend. I was a part of 1 ELCA and 2 LCMS churches and visited several other LCMS and a WELS church before I became born again. I never heard preaching in any Lutheran church that told me "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." (John 3:3) I later learned that the official teaching of the Lutheran church is that they believe the infant is 'born again' when they are sprinkled with water (i.e. baptismal regeneration). Luther's small catechism says [baptism] "works forgiveness of sins, rescues from death and the devil, and gives eternal salvation to all who believe this..." However, this is not what the Bible says. The Bible says you must be born again! This is a spiritual rebirth (John 6:63, John 4:14). Physical water has nothing to do with. The Bible also says that the blood of Jesus alone washes away sins, not water. "In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins" - Colossians 1:14 KJV "Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God" - Romans 3:24-25 KJV You must trust in the shed blood of Jesus Christ on Calvary alone. You can't trust the blood + something else (whether it be water baptism or communion or works or anything else).
@josietanner3960
@josietanner3960 10 месяцев назад
You are not born again just by believing in Jesus Christ. Jesus said that many will say Lord Lord and not enter the kingdom of heaven. We are born again when we receive the Holy Spirit living within us. That is why Jesus said, "You must be born of the spirit." Anyone who does not have the Holy Spirit will not enter the kingdom of heaven You are right that works cannot save. However, when a person has God's spirit residing within them it creates a new creature and a new spirit within them. The person will then WANT to live in obedience; not to earn salvation, but because they love God. James says without works faith is dead. Jesus said, "If you love me you will keep my commandments." Jesus also said, "You will know them by their fruit." A person who has the Holy Spirit will produce good fruit, but a person who does not have the Holy Spirit will produce bad fruit. Also, baptism is necessary. I am not Lutheran, and infant batism is unbiblical because it alone cannot save. You are right that baptism cannot save. We do not have a single example of an infant being baptized in Scripture. However, that doesn't mean that it isn't necessary. Baptism is necessary because it is the outward declaration of our complete faith in Jesus Christ and the washing away of our sins. Acts 2:38 is a perfect model of what should be done... Then Peter said unto them, "REPENT and be BAPTIZED everyone of you in the NAME of JESUS CHRIST for the REMISSION of SINS and ye SHALL receive the gift of the HOLY GHOST." Another reason that baptism is necessary is because Jesus is our template. He was the only sinless man and he was baptized. He didn't have to. Even John protested it. Have you asked yourself why? It is because Jesus was showing us what He wanted His followers to do, which was be baptized.
@RealBobEvans
@RealBobEvans 10 месяцев назад
@@josietanner3960 To say that water baptism is necessary for salvation would be to add works for salvation. Water baptism is a work. It's something you have to get up and physically do. Obviously, water baptism by immersion and good works are things that Christians should do/have after salvation, but not to obtain salvation in the first place. Salvation is all of God's grace received by our faith alone. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." - Ephesians 2:8-10 KJV Salvation happens the exact moment that a sinner realizes his lost, fallen condition before Almighty, Holy God, and receives Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour. Trusting only in the blood that Jesus Christ shed for the sins of the world on Calvary to reconcile us with our Holy Creator. "Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God" - Romans 3:25 KJV According to Ephesians 1:12-13, this exact moment that we trust Christ is the same moment that we receive the Holy Spirit (i.e. become "born again"), and we are saved, Heaven-bound, with a salvation can never be lost (Ephesians 4:30, John 10:27-29). "That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
