That grandmother talking about the Korean War...her lips were shaking while talking about it. Imagine your home being torn apart like that in 1950, and for it to remain like that in 2020. It must've been so frightening.
In 1999. for 78 days NATO was bombing my country Serbia, just because they didn't agree with the current regime and wanted to support illegal guerilla fighters to bring more instability, drug, and human trafficking and they succeeded in that...Kosovo is now one of the black holes not just in Europa but in the world
@@nackamarko thank you so much. i believe that things will improve one day and my life and people's life will be better (Sorry for my bad english again)
@You'll never know me because this is the internet thank you . I think that we only pray for the improvement of conditions in all the countries that are suffering (Sorry for my bad english )
this made me realize how good korea is at spreading historical information through movies and dramas. I'm not korean but I knew about a lot of the events. clearly these were through korean movies and shows because schools here don't really teach us about them. although obviously I'm not korean, the sewol ferry incident is one that I can never forget. those kids were my age when it happened.
@@yousuck9516 haha i wasn't talking about korean students. i was talking about me as a non-korean that's not living in korea was surprised by how i knew about these events bc of korean movies and shows. obviously I'm aware they're not super accurate, but it's still shocking i knew about the events despite not learning them in school. if not for dramas or movies, i wouldn't know any of them bc schools here neglect to teach us about other countries. i was praising korean dramas and movies for being entertaining but also shedding light on important events :)
I agree, I like how they preserve and value their culture in mainstream, popular but still educating ways and younger generations are always learning even when they’re not in a classroom. And now, since Korean entertainment has become globalized, others can also learn about Korean culture too.
yeah I felt the same way, and even if the representation of these events aren't entirely accurate, it makes me want to know more about them so I look it up and suddenly this kdrama educated me
I started teaching in Korea a year after the Sewol Ferry Incident. Even a year later during our moment of silence in the classroom, kids and teachers were crying. A terrible tragedy.
I want to hear more of grandmas stories. My grandparents and my father (oldest of 7) are immigrants who migrated to America during the Vietnam war. Their stories fascinate me and are often sad but a grim reminder to all of us that we don’t have it as bad as we think.
its like showing the modern and vintage of children in korea , "from kids from 1 to 92" - that Christmas song edit: the song is The Christmas Song from Nat King Cole
If I were asked any specific news and dates I would have stuttered a lot. This video just reminded me to be vigilant with the things happening around me.
your history you learn in school will be focused on your location/news, i don't even know if they talked about the bombing that happened like a week ago in the news where i live. things like wars/tragedies/big events you'll probably know.
@@puddlemini That is not the meaning of nihilism, at all. Don't throw around a word like nihilism when you clearly have no idea what it means. It seems you may have meant Pessimism , as again, nihilism is 100% not anything depicted in this video. And even if pessimism was what you meant, the only thing the girl said is that anything can happen, which is neither negative nor positive, and it seems all the kids are still trying to stay positive, which is far from them being pessimistic and ESPECIALLY being nihilistic which makes 0 sense as what she said is not the same as rejecting morals and thinking life is meaningless. Jesus.
It's very sad and unfortunate that more and more children these days are basically "forced" to mature quickly and become aware of the unpredictability and chaos of this world, before they could finish living their childhood in peace and freedom. Hearing kids say things like "I really want to go out" and "I guess anything (bad) can happen" really breaks my heart.
When the grandmother finished her story about The Korean War and then the video reeling back to kids, and they talk about Corona, i burst in tears. Idk i feel like we, as an adult complain so much about COVID-19 restricted our movement, our freedom, our work, but children is growing in a period of time where they can't even meet their friends, or just playing outside. Imagine growing up, spending our childhood in that period of time, these kids didn't have to imagine that. Stay safe everyone
had me teary too, then i remembered many people had and still having it worse than how im doing right now. i hope those people can still see a glimmer of hope
Kids are weak nowadays. I am ashamed that I'm born in the same era as these pampered gen Z kids. Luckily, I was raised by my grandparents and they always taught me about their suffering as migrants to Singapore after fleeing China after the civil war. So I have kept the old way.
@@achillesrodriguezxx3958 I’m also a generation z, and feel the same way. But It’s not all bad, our generation will eventually make It to Mars…Or destroy a Democracy either way…
