What it’s like to Daily Drive a 2nd Gen 24v Cummins | 5 Speed 2nd gen Dually! What it is like Daily Driving a 1998.5 Cummins dually with a 5 speed manual! this is the best daily driver! For business inquiries: Mikesagorac@gmail.com
I got an 02 2500 5speed cummins 24v couldnt be happier. Great milage. Great power. And simple maintenance. Plus super iconic look. Great vid and truck man. Couldnt have said it better.
Absolutely love my 2000 model these are diagon good trucks the power that they have they're just perfect in my opinion thank you for sharing and have a blessed day everyone
Thank you sir so much !!! I been wanting a 2 gen but a dually idk but I find them very attractive then when I notice yours I said wow beautiful truck, Sir you gave me hope thank you for speaking true facts 😎👍💯
Thank you man! They are out there but they are getting harder to find that’s for sure but you will find one and it’ll last you a good wile if you take care of it
I daily my ‘96 12v dually with a 5 speed nv4500, love that truck. I have others but since that’s my main work truck I drive it more than anything, it also gets the most care and attention because of how much money the old girl makes
Gonna find me one of these some day. From what it looks like, these trucks are actually smaller than the modern ram 3500s and even smaller than today's 2500s. These things are also great on fuel surprisingly enough, at least in my case, I drive a lot for work.
I just bought a 96 5speed dually Cummins, happy I didn’t get a gasser. My dad used to have a 98 grail Cummins with the 4 doors that open with a 12 valve 5-speed, it had the 53 block and it cracked at 426,000 miles
You can go in and retap the hole for the bolt that holds the 5th gear in place with the next size bigger left handed thread metric bolt then lock tight it in, then you will never loose 5th gear again. I know I had one at one time she that’s how I fixed mine
I have a 2000 model 3500 flat bed I traded for it and honestly it’s pretty impressive compared to my dads lb7 Duramax with the Allison I’d say it’s ab neck and neck looks and pulling wise I like both too much tbh
I daily my 97 12v I gotta say it's great. I gotta do a lot of work to it, but I know it will still get me to point a-b no problem. I actually rather drive it over my 2014 Tacoma, 80% of the time.
wont ever own another 24 valve version of those trucks, had one for years adored everything about it but the automatic transmission, and computer, hated it so bad i got rid of it with less than 150,000 miles on it, 94 thru 97 were 12 valve trucks, i bought an old beat em up truck of a 96 with 300,000 plus miles on it, and it runs circles around my 01 while in reverse, i do wish i had my 01 back, because i bought it new, but i don't miss it's issues, 6 speed debuted in 99, was sold until 02 in duallies, i sold them new at the time, thank you for the video
@@floridafenceland1137the problem with the autos is that the morons that have them or are getting rid of them don't flush the fluid every 24,000 miles and adjust the bands like chrysler recommends
i just purchased a Black 1999 Ram 3500 4x4 just like your truck with 161,000 miles on it. Runs Great, decent body, but will need a box floor eventually
I’ve had my 2001 24v with the nv5600 since 2006 and have daily driven it every day, at 140k the 53 block cracked so I bought a sled truck with a ppump 24v with a s369/s488 compound turbo set and have been driving it ever since and now have 230k on it.
Thats a really nice rig. I Missed out on getting one for 10-k but someone beat me to it. I ended up getting a 99 2500 With a service body and a tommy lift gare. Has almost 500-k miles , needs a rebuild and the 47 RE is tempermemtal like PMS temper-mental so I have a NV 4500 set up on a pallet waiting to be mated to my rebuilt 24 valve. Im runnjng a P pump on my 24 valve.
if you dont mind me asking what would you pay for one rn im looking to buy a extended cab long bed 2500 2002 4wd with the 6 speed if I cant imma go for a 5 because im not gonna haul too much. Just your thoughts on everything as an owner or my dream truck would help me alot thank you.
I've been daily driving my ram 3500 1998.5. 24 valve since about 2015. I'm only at 115k miles. Original everything except the lift pump. I'm 3.55 rear diff with auto trans. No exhaust drone here but I'm stock exhaust. I also have a 96 ram 3500 nv4500 manual but I'm in the city....so my manual sits in the garage for now. Stop n go Traffic blows on a manual. How do you like going through drive threw ordering lols....what? Repeat that!
I'm right around the corner here in Punta Gorda! I also have a 99 in the same pfk color. Other than that it's totally opposite; Rwd shortbed and auto trans lol
P.s. since I'm unloaded most the time I only run my outer dual tire to save tire expense I'm unloaded most the time. I throw my duals on when I'm loaded tho. P.p.s. the vp44 is cooled not lubricated by fuel pressure not lubed.....any way yah replace the lift pump on these babies.
So I own a lifted 2gen dodge Ram dually 3500 and I was wondering if there's anyone who has cheap 35-in tires for 16-in rim? Or any of that nobody wants to use I need bigger tires
Hey man nice truck! Where do you got the bullbar from and what brand is it ? I’m from Holland and it’s probably difficult to get it here but otherwise I could make it myself if I know the brand. Thanks 👍🏻
Sexy truck, I like the plain silver color, blacked out wheels and that huge front metal bumper protector, and those huge side mirrors. I picked up a 2000 Ram 3500 diesel, long bed, dually like yours. It has 252,000+ miles and I got it for a weekend toy. I wasn’t trying to spend $40,000+ on those garage queen ones with less than 100,000- miles.
In a few years im looking to buy a 01 3500 for my first truck. Do you think this would be a good truck to start out with and is this truck hard to keep fuel in the tank?
@@floridafenceland1137 yea putting that clutch in sucked I used a pittsburgh 800.lbs transmission jack and I did not detach the transfer case I did fill the jack when I got it and ether I didn't put enough in or one of the seals was messed up I did have fluid on in and the gound but I thought it was from the t-case but other then that it's pretty simple
Hey man... for my first truck do you recommend a 24v. A truck like this is definitely my dream truck. I've been looking all over the place and I cant fund one in decent condition.
i hear you. i’m looking for an extended cab short bed manual. they either all have rust or 300k miles and most of the time both. i just want one around 200k miles with little to no rust for about 8k
Same. My 96 12v and 04 24v both seem to get 11 or 12. If i am hauling a trailer in a strong headwind like yesterday, i was probably getting 8 mpg with the 04. I have never gotten anywhere close to the 19mpg many claim.
Hey man! I have a quick question. So I’m currently looking at a 2007 6Speed 5.9 Cummins. it would be my first Deisel truck and my first Manual. Would you recommend it
Yes I would because 2007, last and best year of the 5.9 also it should have a G56 trans, best trans, and everything else should be just fine I’d do it 100% if it was me
Would you say it's still worth buying a 2500 instead of a 3500? I can't really find the actual differences besides axles. I just want a daily, not really any towing or power mods
Randomly cutting out, dead pedal, then also sometimes it would seem to run slow like low on power, I could tell by the smoke it had, if it was running normal it would haze a little like normal but then when it was “slow” it would have no smoke at all and would be low on power very odd possibly was a ground issue as well
Beautiful truck. I bought an 01 2500 about 3 months ago with 161k on needs work, but motor is solid. Thinking I'm going to do the fuel pump mod that you did as I'm only getting 11 psi at idle and 7 at wot. My only question is longevity and how will that holly pump work in extreme cold as I live in northern Minnesota. Awesome vids man, keep up the good work
So I live in Florida where is extremely hot and humid and my pump lasted basically one year exactly, an then I bought another one at the local store which is one perk, I also returned the old pump a few days later and got my money back, another perk, and my new pump has been great so far! So I’m not sure how long they should it will last but I’m still very happy with mine!
UpNorthDiesel 979 haha I received a 2001 2500 24 valve back in March and had 161k miles on it now running 176k with everything in the front end replaced.
I’m in Florida so we never deal with snow Or salt, I’m really not a good person to ask about that only because I don’t deal with it but I Would say some heavy undercoating, and try to not drive in the snow lol
@@floridafenceland1137 I just bought a clean one owner 98 like yours, but I live in the salt belt and I'll be driving it daily so I'm stressin about rust already 😂
@@floridafenceland1137 btw you said that these trucks are getting hard to find they are getting hard to find for sale nobody wants to sell them that's why they are getting hard to find
@@floridafenceland1137 when they do the regret just ask my dad he had a 01 dodge ram 3500 6 speed he said he is kickin himself for trading it for a new truck the only problem with it was it was 2x4 not 4x4 it was ment more for highway use
Ahh yes you are correct! I’ve never owned a 12v this is my third 24v and I love them, but I do wish it had a p-pump, I prefer the sound of a 24v over a 12 too
Nice truck. I have a 01 with a 47RE and I’m thinking of ditching it for a NV4500 because they aren’t expensive. Any other complaints besides 5th gear nut?
Oh nice! An not really man it shifts great, I almost wish 5th had a longer gear in it so my cruising rpm was lower but I have 4.10s in my truck so that dosent help either but I Like the nv4500 a lot
@@floridafenceland1137 you say you have 4.10's what tire size are you running? Actually the bigger tire is helping you with your rpms. Im curious with the NV and the 4.10's what rpm your at doin 70mph?
Yeah I really don’t have any complaints, I think 80mph is 2500rpm which is about the highest I’ll ever run this truck I usually stay around 70 mph which this morning on the way to work I looked and it was like right at 2100
The Diesel Ranch thanks, I appreciate the response! I have to ask, do they preform well in muddy environments, along with still holding a high enough weight rating to be practical to tow with?
Would you buy the Ironman tires again? Does it have to have a lift or spacers n the back or anything. I have a 04 quad cab dually with a flatbed looking to put tires about that size on it. Thanks love the truck
The iron mans are good tires, but definitely not the best, they had great traction on an of road but they were about half gone after 15k miles on my dually but I also paid 1000 for 6 of them brand new so I’m not complaining at all they are great value, personally I probably won’t buy another set of them but I still think they are good tires, also no my rear suspension is all stock and I ran a 2 inch spacer between the rear wheels for a while but ended up taking it off and just deflating the outside tire and bolting it on without a spacer later and that’s how I run my new set as well
