Just did a battery upgrade video not too long ago. They can be a big help to people just learning how to work on their bike. I went with a Antigravity Lithium Battery.

Thank you very much for the feedback! I wanted a different battery but just couldn’t find one readily available... next time I’ll be more patient!

Not sure why manufactures do that. The one in my road glide looks pretty buried. Can't wait to change that someday. A car I used to own you had to remove a bunch of stuff to get too it. My dad had a similar deal. Ya know when auto parts stores say they will swap the battery for you? They looked at my dad when he went to have it done and they said "No". haha I ended up doing for him.

Yeah, this was a pain to get to. It’s one of the things you should be able to get to without needing an engineering degree! Thanks for the comment sir!

Gurgled it. I will use that! I didn't even know Duracell made this type of battery, though it makes sense they would. Even though it's unfamiliar territory, how will you know if you never try one? Sure wish I had your magic fingers to make things easier on jobs like this. That bag came off so easily. Right off the bat, the battery is a PITA to get to on this bike. I feel it is one of a few Achilles' heels. Hex head bolts are a pain, first off. I'm sure there's some reason Honda chose them for this application, but wouldn't it be easier to have flat or Phillips? I ended up buying a set of hex power driver bits to make this job a LOT faster, otherwise you're getting a wrist workout all afternoon, twisting those things off and on again - and there are four of them. When I went to install my bags and rack, I was using the 90 degree angled hand bits - I don't own socket hex drivers. Little tip for you next time. You can get power bits in a set for under $10. Look at all the parts you had to remove to get that battery out. It's ridiculous. Like you said - "Honda, you're better than this". At 5:35, you skipped from having no battery to the battery already inserted. Does it matter what order the terminals are connected? That's one of those little details I've never been able to commit to memory. When I jump start someone's car, I can NEVER remember what order to do the connections. Not even on a modern simple one with only two clamps. At least Honda was ingenious enough to realize that little gap in the panel was needed. Respect for that! I think I might have broken a pin when I was reinserting that bottom little panel after the saddlebag install, so I always have that in the back of my mind. And I will always use extreme care in removing and replacing those triangular panels. I suspect they may flex one too many times and break one day. I would have been keenly interested to see how you routed your pigtail. I can't seem to figure out how best to do that, and mine is not ideally hung in there. You mention it should have been a 10 minute job and it took you 40. Well, that means it will take Craig an hour and a half. The lady who cuts my hair bought me a guardian bell at Bike Week and gave it to me last time I saw her, and I hung that from my engine guard yesterday, so I am safe from road gremlins now. There's a topic that's never come up on the forum! Well, as we speak, you have ONCE AGAIN hit a new subscriber high of 360. You may find my posts useful some day to look back on your growth over time. Unbelievable! Got a few really nice riding days ahead this week, so I may try to re-do my cemetery video "with audio". Enjoyed this video and I may attempt to do this myself one of these days now that I have your guidance at the ready. I would LOVE to change my own oil one of these days, but I worry about access to the filter and having proper tools - which right now, I don't. Nor do I want to have .9 quarts of oil left over that has to be stored once I'm done. But there's a great RU-vid vid that shows it step by step very expertly. Only thing missing this time was a sip of Crown! You've got that bike just about road ready for summer, I think! New battery, new inspection, final drive fluid... Kudos. OK, tongue click and fingers pointed back atcha bud! 😎🕶🏍🍺🍹👅👉👉

Thank you very much for the comment as always my friend. I always remove the negative terminal first when taking the battery off. When putting it back in I believe you start with putting the positive side on first. But I need to double check that info. It’s ridiculous to make it this difficult to change out a damn battery! Period! I’ve always ridden with a Guardian bell but down here they’re called Gremlin bells by quite a few folks. I know it’s just folklore and superstition but I always ride with one. I like that you give me a heads up in my subscriber count! Like you said gives me something to remember where I was at the time! Thanks again for the feedback and the support!

@@BigSmittyRiding So it's negative off then positive off, then positive on then negative on. NP, PN. My mnemonic for this will be NIPPON since it's Japanese.

Motorcycle batteries have always been a pain. Some do not have a warranty, and quality wise motorcycle batteries are either quality or not so good which has been a problem with them a really long time. Personally Ido not like filling and charging up a battery even if its an AGM. I buy pre filled, sealed, and ready to go Interstate motorcycle batteries now. The Interstate brand costs more yet any problem I had even when the 6 month warranty was up they took care of me no questions or hassles. I used to use Deka yet they got a little harder to find and if I had a problem not exactly easy to deal with. Thanks for sharing your videos here.

I never would of have thought Duracell for a replacement, but if they are as good as their standard batteries then it should last. Awesome HOW TO video, cool seeing the mechanical side of the bike!

The mechanical side of this bike is a bitch! And I’m with you I never would have thought about Duracell as a motorcycle battery until it was one of my last options. We’ll see how it does... Thanks for the comment and the support Jay!

Honda did make that job more difficult than on my ST1300 and definitely tougher than my NC700x. Glad ya got it done

Thank you sir. Yeah, it’s supposed to be a much easier thing to do but they didn’t seem to think so. Honda does so many things well, I’ll just have to give them this one...

I do not recall the last battery I used on my 1982 Yamaha Virago 750. I think I did not have one on it for the last year that I had it. It had an electric start, and a kick start, which I used when there was no battery. Does not matter now, the ex ended up with the bike, oh well. Maybe my next bike will not have an issue to replacing the battery. We will see. Hey Smitty, I am trying not to be an asshole... I swear!

I want to battery possible additional battery for her car with a two or three-year replacement it only lasted six months and they would honor the warranty and told me that it was void that’s a big scam that they pull on their customers and the Duracell car batteries are crap and so is Batteries plus warranties that they don’t honor after you buy a battery and it fails don’t fall for the BS take my good money and spend it somewhere else

Thanks for the info. I sold my bike with the Duracell battery in it but sounds like I won’t buy shit from Batteries Plus again. Thanks for the heads up.
