Oblivion Speechcraft for me in a nutshell: "You're a BIG. FAT. LIAR." "You're full of it." "You're revolting." *Dumps 10000g into bribe* (Your Speechcraft skill has increased) "How may I help you, friend?" (With a stupid grin on their face)
Avarickan lol I never did like to play the mage characters in ES games (even though legend has it they were OP af until Skyrim) but I did play an Imperial for my main, so I had the race ability Emperor's Charm, I believe it was called. Voice of the Emperor, something like that lol
Breton: they say syndicates of wizards have led a boycott of Imperial goods, in the land of the altmer Nord: STOP TALKING ENOUGH Breton: bye! Nord: hello Breton: heard the fighters guild is recruiting again not bad money if you've got the stones for it Nord: good day!
i love how in oblivion, your not some reincarnation or dragon soul fueled prophecy dude. your just a somewhat normal person fighting for what he believes in.
And Morrowind was better. It's not about being (input here the glorious name) it's about how, after so many difficulties, you became that way. You earn it not because someone told you that, you earn it because you did it possible after so many difficulties. Is curious that Morrowind only have a glorius name (Oblivion too) and that, make you "special", but Skyrim have a lot of them, and you don't care. Ok, Thane, ok Listener, ok Dragonborn... I don't care🥱🥱
Same as Morrowind. Same as oblivion. The underlying lore implies the same divinity. In the elder scrolls our player characters are the avatar of a god, that god is the player themselves. That's what is so magically about TES, the real mind blowing fiction does not take center stage. It's disguised as traditional fantasy but it's so much deeper.
@@Invocated_Agitator what kind of potential you're talking about?? It came out in 2006,& I enjoyed oblivion's side quest more than any rpg I've ever played
I loved that some NPC's would change their voice entirely when you selected certain dialogue options. Little imperfections like that make the already enjoyable game hilarious on top of it all.
Thomas Edmonson I know right. Oblivion (and most Bethesda games) are buggy as hell but the good type of buggy. Not only does it not affect the experience in a negative way, sometimes it's freaking hilarious. I remember one time entering in a castle at night and there were 2 guards sitting in the thrones instead of the king and queen. Needless to say i laughed my ass off.
If this is referring to the beggars, the voice change was done on purpose. They mostly speak in a serious tone when talking directly about the Blind Fox or Thieves Guild related quests, in which they know you are a member of the guild. When speaking to you when not a member, they maintain their starchy beggar voice to keep up the act of being 'just' a beggar. This is the general consensus anyway. I don't really know of anyone else who changes their voice, and I've played through the game *a lot*.
*Speaks in meak, quivering, pathetic voice* "Please, I'm only askin' for a single coin. Me children are starving..." *Gives coin* *Speaks in very deep, valiant, manly voice* "THANK YOU, KIND SIR!"
Oblivion was a fairy tale, and I mean that in the best possible way. Nearly all the quests felt like something out of a fairy tale book that you'd find on the bookshelf of your grandparent's house when you were visiting.
Akuma Masurao Ok, but Baldur's Gate I/II, Wheel of Time, and American McGee's Alice are still superior to Oblivion, esp. with regard to the main quest and side quests/storyline, etc.
Ernest Korsunov Sure you can. They are different kinds of fantasy games, but they are both fantasy games. The amount of repetition in Oblivion is obviously way, WAY, WAAAAY higher than in Baldur's Gate. For that reason alone, considering that both are remarkable games, Baldur's Gate wins.
Has anyone else noticed that skyrims soundtrack sounded as if it was ripped from morrowind and oblivion and simplified? Or is it just me that feels it is cause I agree ☝️ oblivion’s soundtrack was amazing along side morrowinds
Yes. The music + freedom was intense. I still play the Oblivion soundtrack and have recently played through Oblivion again. The music gives me goosebumps.
I was just fkin pissed off with the killer rats and glad changing difficulty was a thing. Or else I woulda never seen that "huge open world before my eyes" lol
The first time I left the prison the moon was full, up in the sky, and I found a horse. I started riding through the fields with no destination and that made me feel something so good I can't even describe. It was magical.
Me too! Oblivion was my first moment of getting into 'modern gaming'. Before that all I played was Link's Awakening on the gameboy. Boy I had to stop and look for a few minutes
Oblivion was my first Elder scrolls game, and is today still one of my favorites. Compared to Skyrim and Morrowind, there's something that keeps drawing me back to it. In oblivion I have this urge and desire to explore everything, even though I've seen it all several times before. The music, oh the music, Jeremy Soule you sun of a gun, absolutely breathtaking. The quests, the factions, the main story, the cities, the towns, the npc's, everything was just so much more desired to experience and enjoy than for example the later installment Skyrim. The graphics were so bright and green, watching the sunset over imperial city while triking along a road.. I have no more words except for Best The Elder Scrolls Game of all Time!
tbh you really should try the much older installments like arena and daggerfall. If you are more a fan f pixelart and the old d&d ways of playing, you won't be dissapointed. I can't guarantee that you will automatically like it however since it takes some effort and time get used to it.
The guild storylines and quests were way more interesting in Oblivion than Skyrim. The Dark Brotherhood in particular was incredible. My favorite quest in either game is the one from Oblivion Dark Brotherhood where you get locked in that inn with like 6 other people and have to kill them off one by one
Brian Callahan I always did the brotherhood and thieves guild ql side by side. Take the target out, and if it was in their home, loot the house , win win. Who says I can't do two jobs at once
When this game came out I was a little kid at the time. I remember when I used to sit down on the couch with my dad and just watch him play it. I was never much as a watcher but for some reason this is the only game I actually enjoyed watching someone play for long periods of time. I remember when we first loaded the game and instantly immersed into the world of oblivion. How the story instantly kicked off from that dungeon. Designing you own unique character. Learning what skills and spells you want to use for your play style as you go though your first dungeons. This game really has a special place in my heart because me and my dad really bonded over this game. I could not wait for him to get home from work to watch him play it. If he was playing it, I was there with him. We would talk about what's going on in the story and share are thoughts and opinions on it. Then talk about it again the next day. (Also we loved setting off the traps while in dungeons and caves lol). When I stared to play oblivion my dad would watch me play it too and help me along the way. But the point of this comment is that this game really bonded me and my dad together for a lifetime +1 Who ever says video games serve no purpose and are a waste of time, go fuck your self.
What I really loved about Oblivion is that once I've accomplished something important in the game, the NPC's would start to recognize me, saying it's an honor to meet the imperial arch mage or thanking me for my intervention at Kvatch. Sure, Skyrim did that, too. But not as often and it didn't feel that rewarding
Yes, Oblivion is a warm, colorful and personal game. Let's go through the main characters you meet in Skyrim's main quest (Slight Spoilers?): Jarl Balgruuf, Irileth, Farengar, The Greybeards, Delphine, Esbern. Are any of these memorable or likeable? Do you feel a bond? None of them get personal. In fact through the whole main-quest you don't save a soul and you don't get any bonds forged through real hardship or loss. Do you remember that one soldier in the first oblivion gate? Yes, because he turns to you in a time of danger.
Most of the time, yeah. But then you're the arch mage, and the imperial battlemages still greet you by saying: "Ahh! You must be the arcane university's newest member." I mean, they're not wrong though.
PowahSlap Entertainmint that is not love that is fear of being alone you want someone to share a life goal with not one to simply adore you whatever you do
I remember when I first left the imperial sewers, not having any idea what Oblivion was about or the ES series saying "Wait a minute?! I can do whatever I want? Oh shiiit this rocks!"
easily the quests because instead of skyrim where the thieves guild or the college do the same thing. 1. go into cave 2. find item 3. done it had meaning
Same. Especially the time i found out about all the random quests. In fact, I believe all the quests were random. Cause the game made you wanna explore. And you never knew what would happen *cough cough* college of winterhold *cough cough*
you should play it. It is bit hard to get used to not have fast travel and combat system but history, religion, politics, strange animals, you can create your own spells, enchantments.
my first time in oblivion i stole a horse from a guard, then tried to swim away from him and wound up getting murdered by a mud crab. Also didnt know fast travel was a thing until i was nearly finished with the dark brotherhood storyline
In my first play through I attacked someone by accident and accidentally left the conversation with the guard, which resulted in me going on a killing spree as I traveled on foot from area to area. This ended when I went to sleep only to be woken up by Lucien, which resulted in me deleting that save file, creating a new character, killing a guard, taking his silver sword, sleeping in a camp, joining the Dark Brother hood and it just goes from there.
Michael Gusevsky I always took down the guard by the stables at the Imperial city, there is a large rock not too far from it which you can jump on and camp while you kill him with magic and arrows, takes forever but it works. This was until I discovered that you can just do the arena and defeat the grand champion after doing his quest. Because it counts but it won't register as a murder. It's a great strategy and you get a few levels out of it.
For me, Oblivion did 4 big things which means I prefer it to Skyrim: 1) Zaney characters - these were memorable, slightly out there. Everyone was unique, from necrophiliac alchemists to paranoid townsfolk. 2) Quests - the quests were so much richer in Oblivion than Skyrim. Dark Brotherhood had many interesting assassinations, main quest was pressing. Also you were just an ordinary person who made a name for themselves, rather than having blatant fame thrust upon you with magical powers. 3) Classes - though some people complain about fixed combat, it made every character feel unique. In Skyrim they tried to be flexible, but encouraged the trio of mage, assassin or warrior. In Oblivion you could be any specific thing you liked. It also made the game more replayable and having multiple characters rewarding. In Oblivion I had a dozen characters and never got bored. In Skyrim I ended up doing everything on one account because it was too tedious to use an alt. 4) Fantasy world - in Oblivion I felt like the world was different to my own, it felt magical, different. It had an atmosphere of the wonderful and outlandish. Skyrim on the other hand just felt a bit dead, like a medieval game with some fantasy thrown in. Another realm was invading, minotaurs, ogres and goblins lurked in every corner. In every corner something new anddifferent appeared, whereas in SKyrim once I'd seen 1/4 of it I felt like I'd seen it all. My opinon but think it's quite relatable.
Zandaz Skyrim is by far my favorite game but I actually do agree with you. its just an urge to go back to skyrim although I've played it like 10 times.
Some people complain that they would rather be a hero type character with fame because "why the f I'm I playing a video game for if I'm not bad ass". And other people like the idea of starting from nothing and working your way up from a random peasant. Can't always please everyone's interests.
I'd say Skyrim is the better game TriX , mechanically, graphically with a better skill system and more content, but I prefer Oblivion for the charm. IDK it's just me.
Far from civilization near the southern border of cyrodil i am deep within an Ayleid ruin sneaking around in complete silence when suddenly my screen spins around to an angry guard yelling "STOP CRIMINAL ____!" A touch lightning spell that flung a Lich so far i could not find the body. Decorating the diverse homes of oblivion and stuff staying where i placed it: swords, helmets, gems.
This game was the first open world RPG I had ever played. This is what started it all... This game tought me the true meaning behind the word "escape". The passion I now feel overwhelms me at times and leaves me with a sorrowful feeling as I know that I have done everything in the games that I love and have to wait years for the creation of another diamond in the rough. I wish I could erase everything that I know about Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, and every Fallout made so that I could relive every moment as if for the very first time... Words cannot describe the love I have for The Elder Scrolls... It burns in me.
Shadow Claire I'm with you there!! I yearn & dream of playing Morrowind all over again, and have it sitting idle in my closet, because I'm afraid to replace the memories I have. The beauty is one can play as a whole new character & follow a different path, so you do get a chance to experience the games differently in a way.
Absolutely. Oblivion was the first open world game, and also the first RPG that I EVER play. Like an addict, I have been chasing that high ever since. I'll never be eclipsed IMO. Fallout 3 came close. But things like The Witcher don't do anything for me.
Every time I heard this damn guard in my head saying: "If you've got to travel, by the Nine Divines, stay on the roads! The wilderness just isn't safe anymore. We've had sightings, you see. The Daedra..."
my dad gave me my first xbox 360 with oblivion cause he played marrowin and loved it so he wanted me to play the eldorw scrolls series with him and i loved the game best moment in my life
I still play oblivion, nowdays with mods... And i can say That everything in this game they way things exist from guilds to npc's seem to be feet in a very natural and balanced way. After i play skyrim i realize how interesting and cool was the most of the npc's in Oblivion.
I just can’t see it.. I played Skyrim but not oblivion but when I look back at these videos it just looks disgusting and hilarious bad graphics.. I just can’t see what y’all see in that game..
@@stillamitchinmybook6320 Download mods that fixes faces and body, a good enb, a combat mod (like deadly reflex) and grass and vegetation mod and it will look beautiful
"You're going to die in here, Breton! You're going to die!" "You hear that? The guards. There coming. For you! Hehehe..." "Baurus, lock that door behind us." "My sons... They're dead, aren't they?" "You don't know that, sir, the messenger only said that they were attacked." "No, they're dead... I can feel it." "Get this gate open! This cell was supposed to be off-limits!" "The usual mixup with the Watch, I..." "Stand back, prisoner! We won't hesitate to kill you if you get in our way!" (I'm legit recalling this from memory)
Yeah man, I used to be scared to play Oblivion back in the day lol but it was DEFINITELY the first game I really got into, probably one of the only games I wrote notes for when I wasn't playing.
AndrewMalique lmao.. always hated going thru the beginning of the game cuz for some reason I'd take long breaks from the game and would want to make a new character lmao. Brings back memories though!
It's my favorite questline in any game, of all time. I can't believe how well put together it was. Especially the whodunnit party. The only thing that comes close to Oblivion's DB is Oblivion's Arena and Dishonored's party mission, but even those are miles away from DB.
My favorite thing was when I first got out of the prison, going over to the Ayleid ruins across the pond, getting smashed by some bandits, coming back as Master of Fighters Guild, Champion and Grand Champion of Cyrodiil and the Arena, and one shotting all of them.
"One-shotting all of them" you sure buddy the enemies in oblivion are leveled so even at level 1 you should be able to kill them and late game shouldnt be able to oneshot
Green Lizard depends on the difficulty he's playing cuz if the slider bar is all the way down they will always be easy and if it's all the way up the enemies will always be golden fucking God's that tear your clothes off with one swing of the sword then transform you into a sad crying little rat to be stepped on, no matter how high level you are. If he's in the middle one shouting seems possible
Nicholas Singleton I know i got killed by the first few rats a lot of times. But the higher you get the tankier the enemies get so what he says is still counter intuitive bullshit. Then he is not telling about changing the difficulty to 0% or he didn't even remember how this game worked. Either way his comment is false.
Dark Brotherhood questline is probably my favorite thing about Oblivion, its plot twist turned into some spooky shit and it thrilled me good. Another thing that I adore about the game is the soundtrack. Loved hearing that main theme as I booted up the game, it really gave you that adventurous type of feeling. Soundtrack in general for Oblivion is masterful. Also one final thing that I like: Shivering Isles Expansion. Good shit.
By far my favorite part was just the unbridled sense of mysticism and wonder Oblivion inspires. I will never forget just walking into a house and finding out that a famous painter just disappeared into his creation, the possibilities feel nearly endless. Go to a new town and discover something new and fantastic, every time.
i played this game years ago when i was pretty young. this game was so amazing to me then, and recently i started laying again. oblivion’s soundtrack, story, quests, and overall gameplay was unmatched. i’m glad i picked it up recently and started playing again.
The best part? It feels like after all these years, its still new. I still find myself noticing things I hadn't noticed before, or exploring spots I hadn't previously been in. Its such a joy, really. And because of the rich familiarity of it all, it really has come to feel like MY own personal fantasy world. I know its ins and outs but it still surprises me.
The NPC dialogue actually went a long way for me, and I liked being able to tell the races apart based on voice so I didn't mind the repeat voice actors. All the Oblivion VAs have mad chops and deserve credit; the amount of recorded dialogue among a handful of actors in the game is insane! Please Todd Howard, everyone's grandma has 3 copies of Skyrim. Can we get some remastered love on Morrowind and Oblivion?
Morrowind remastered with an option to enable Fast Travel would be a blessing. The reason it turned me off was because it was so old school that gameplay felt slow. I'd love to experience that game from an invocateur point of view.
Horse armor was so great it permanently killed my beloved Shadowmere and lost part of my books and important quest items making part of the game unbeatable. I have very strong feelings for it. Shivering Isles is the best dlc of all games.
There were so many great things about Oblivion, I can't even choose what was my favorite. From creating the perfect fantasy character, to stepping out of the prison for the first time and seeing the huge open world ready to explore, to engaging in all the awesome battles and destroying the portals to Oblivion, I loved every second of this game.
A lot of people praised oblivion for its well designed dungeons. They were... A bit too well designed for my taste. The music, the very real feeling of claustrophobia, all of that scared me shitless. It actually made me miss the virtual sun of Cyrodil, as my own shone through the window.
I dont know man, getting lost in one of those caves/tombs in morrowind was scary as fuck for me. The music made it so it was WORSE when there were no enemies around.
Hi I'm the Nerevarene, Hero of Kvatch, Dragonborn, master assassin, Dark Brotherhood Listener, Master Thief, Thane of Every city in Skyrim, Arena Grand Champion, Arch Mage, Ranking member of the Blades, worshiper of every Daedric shrine in Morrowind,Cyrodiil , and Skyrim, The only reason the Imperials won, The only reason the Stormcloaks won, Highest ranking member of The Champions, and Guards still have the guts to call me criminal scum
well the guards certainly don't want you to be a deadric worshiper, since most of them are evil or twisted; you will commit many crimes to do their's bidding. I guess that would considered as devil worship in our world, of the devil actually existed/and wold reply. edit: same goes for you being a "master thief" and the "the listener"
Vel Koz ""Psst. Hey, I know who you are. Hail Sithis!" -Dark Brotherhood "Seeing as how Riften is home to the Thieves Guild, maybe we can work something out if you get into trouble with the law. For the right price." -Thieves Guild, also every major hold has positive thieves guild dialogue from the guards as well considering the only daedric guard dialogue is either neutral (when they talk about your armor/equipped items) or positive (not towards the player but towards daedra in general - ""It is whispered that one of the Daedric Princes himself is behind the murder of Elisif. It would seem even the nobility of Oblivion favors our cause.") It would be easy to assume the guards DON'T care. Not to mention how corrupt the Markarth guards are, and even some of the Riften ones. And even if your point was still valid, you still haven't explained why they'd think you're criminal scum for literally saving the world from dragons and being the thane of a hold. whoops.
+Connor Mckay well i see your point; but the chance of a guard say those lines are randomized(if the player are in that faction); so technically all guards are with the thieves guild and the dark brotherhood eventually. *But* if you do commit a crime thievery/murder after they declare them self to be with the thieves guild/dark brotherhood they could't care less that they "are" in the same faction, instead the will arrest you. Why they say so is probably a joke from bethesda's part, since the guard gain new lines for each larger quest lines the player completes; and they just thought: hey, why not... Even so, no thief nor murderer in their right mind would allow deadric worship, since to do so often comes with large consequences, that will most likely effect other as well. Since i found it hard to believe that all guards in Skyrim are not right minded... actually i don't, there is no need to even try defend them. after all their largest concerns is if someone stole their sweets....
Vel Koz so what? It doesn't matter if you're in the guild or not. They still said it. It's in the game. Therefore, my conclusion may be incorrect, but yours isn't right either. And they bounty/arrest you because that's their JOB... There are speechcraft perks and certain events where you can bribe the guards to "look the other way" anyways, at least for smaller crimes (not sure about murder) My problem wasn't really that you said the DB, Thieves guild, and Daedra worshipers were bad and the guards would be after them. My problem with it was that you decided "hey, let me tell this guy why he's wrong but then don't talk about the other 15 points he made" those points being Dragonborn, Thane of every city, Ranking member of the Blades, Arena Grand Champion, Imperial/Stormcloak "leader", etc. It's like, you wanted to complain just to complain. Which is why I replied in the first place. And don't tell me "but complaining wasn't my GOAL!!!!!!!!!!1111" because we all see your first comment trying to correct the original for literally no reason.
What made Oblivion great Oblivion great was the Dark Brotherhood for me! And it was unexpected. I killed a Mythic Dawn spy in her home with The Crusader stuff (Since it was a part of the main quest of aiding the soon-to-be emperor Martin Septim) and as I did a saw "a dark presence watches you" or something and I'm like...Shit! It's gonna be an ambush! But...I saw nobody. I went to sleep in my house that was once a haunted manor and there he was...Lucien Lachance. I was honestly mesmerized by him and his introduction and wanted to recruit me into The Dark Brotherhood and gave me The Blade of Woe in case of reconciliation. Now I followed the good route, not taking any of the bad routes. (I wore the Crusader's armour and weapons as proof of that.) But after completing Knights of The Nine and The Main Quest...I felt empty, even though there were a lot of quests and such. I happened to pass the Inn Lucien described and found out why whoever wanted Rufio dead... I SLAUGHTERED HIM AND TRAPPED HIM IN THE DOOR AND WATCHED HIS BODY CONSTANTLY CONVULSE! HAHAHAHAHA! >>:DThan was my first sinful route and after Lucien congratulated me I placed away all me stuff in The Knights of The Nine's Temple and started my new life with my new family. They were some of the best and challenging quests I've ever played. And it was all worth it becoming Lucien's Silencer, him giving me Shadowmere (The BEST horse in the game! Others were so slow!)and going to all these Dead Drops. And the Twist was a surprise! Both Lucien and I being deceived by a traitor! I had to prove Lucien's Innocence, but I was too late and was in shock at what happened to him. (Arquen and the others of The Black Hand are idiots, though. I wished one of them could mention about Lucien's Silencer (Me or Player) and have them wait for me to watch Lucien's fate. That way I could go You fools captured the wrong man! Holding up the traitor's Diary and Mother's Head. Lucien did his job right.) Anyway, I became Listener but my heart felt empty and black as The Void.
Oblivion was my first Elder Scrolls game and I absolutely love it, for me it's better than Skyrim, mostly due to a beautiful world, which is my no. 1 game world I wish I could visit. And the music... still listening to it to this day.
Oblivion was my childhood game. Everything about the game to me was perfect, the characters were so rich and enjoyable, the stories were so gritty and immersive (I found myself tearing up over the death of Martin and Lucien and becoming emotionally investing in the Grey Fox's relationship with the countess of Anvil), despite the more cartoony graphics I found the world utterly beautiful. Despite Morrowind being the pinnacle of the series and Skyrim being the most visually beautiful, Oblivion will always be my favourite.
Everyone in the comments be bashing Skyrim. I love Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim. They each have their pros and cons but are all ultimately fulfilling and amazing adventures.
My favorite thing? The story. Not just the main story but the factions and the arena stories as well. If felt alive and exciting every little thing you did or accomplished. It made you feel important when the characters actually acknowledged your skills and devotion. Owen the bladmaster, he starts how feeling nothing but contempt for you but slowly starts treating you as a dear friend as he watched you progress throughout the ranks. The epic heist the Gray fox himself entrusts to you and the reward he grants you. The battle with Mannimarco himself. The corrupted hist tree. Defeating the dark brotherhood by yourself and witnessing the epic betrayal play out. Finally saving all of Cyrodil from the oblivion crisis, all the while feeling the hatred AND respect of your enemies. The shivering isles! The knights of the nine! All of it was breathtaking to me...I had hoped to feel the same, if not better when I first bought Skyrim...I'd never been more disappointed. It's fun, but nothing, NOTHING in that game has the same gravity that Oblivion did. I wish it was at least even. Anyone else feel the same?
BLuNTeR Same here. I had to borrow oblivion to play on my xbox and I finally got it for myself on PC and I've been playing it a lot recently, and then this video got posted lol.
MarshallZPie M. Yup have 2 360 copies which blew my mind back in the day. Playing it on PC and the game is still so fucking fun. Especially with better fps/mods.
yeah, the levelling is super slow compared to skyrim. after level 2 or 3 it gets easier because you understand the game more and explore, do side quests etc
Can't help but feel like every channel that says "We're truly interested to hear what you have to say in the comments" and then proceeds to NEVER respond, is really just saying that so people comment to help the youtube algorithm for their channel to be exposed.
I am not completely sure about it but I think there is a psychological reason as well. when you give an opinionated video about something then ask people about their thoughts at the end you avoid people that try to attack your videos and actually get more constructive arguments and point in the comment section. Otherwise it would be "you are stupid for this opinion that I don't agree with..blah blah blah".
Killval If you had over three thousand comments on all your videos, leta see how many comments you have the time to respond. On popular channels, unless you comment on the day of the video being posted, I can guarantee your comment will be missed by the streamers.
Its funny how people don't realize youtubers will do and say anything to insure their channels success. They'll tell you they love you, cry on camera for you, and even pretend to be interested in you. Majority of the youtubers only "love" their subscribers because of the revenue they bring with them.
Jared Piper Playing Oblivion my mom has never let me drink or get Skooma, or even just steal or kill illegally in-game. I have wanted to make bad decisions in Oblivion for so very long.
Jared Piper My mom was somewhat ok with me hitting random people in Assassins Creed, sometimes I just killed them for dumb reasons such as them being in my way, I solved that usually by killing them then getting killed myself yet continuing doing it.
I really loved the little bit with the Fin Gleam helmet on a mudcrab. Makes me feel like it was a test to tell whether or not fans could pick out the specific helmet.
My favorite part of Oblivion? The class system. I prefer it over Skyrim's. Oblivion was the game that brought D&D from your imagination to a physical world and, the class system was very similar. From the start you choose what you're going to be. I was a wood elf, scout/rogue. Where in Skyrim, I'm everything including part dragon. Don't get me wrong. I love Skyrim. However, Oblivion made you feel more important, because you earned it and, earned it by doing things your way.
Rogue Lancer thats very true when i play oblivion it feels like im truly making it my own story but skyrim just didnt do that for me the player will always be a dragonborn not realy anything else that you may want to be in that world
I like to add some of that back in with some mods. Skyrim definitely is far too all-encompassing per-character. You want to feel like your character can't do some things, in order to make the things they can do feel more special. In a way, if you're everyone at the same time, you're also no-one at the same time. I don't blame them for trying a new thing and it worked well in some ways, but they went too far with it.
The Arena was awesome, with the commentator guy and the fact that you got to pick a title, it was great. The mages guild was also great, making your own spells and such was amazing, I really wish they brought some stuff that was in Oblivion, into Skyrim.
getting access to the vip club arcane academy by traveling the world and getting recommendations from guild leaders was amazing. In skyrim the college was empty and devoid of life and they instantly accepted you
Replacement 0105 fun fact: That commentator guy is also the arena commentator for every single Washington Capitals NHL hockey game. "LOWERRRR THE GATES!"
I remember when Oblivion first came out I stole a sword from a store and got chased by a soldier on a horse which was pretty cool and scary at the time! And watching this video makes me want to go hop on my 360 and play a little bit of it or maybe a lot! :D
Back when Oblivion launched I'd only dabbled in a few games, mostly shooters and RTSs on my dad's computer and I'd tried Morrowind for a few hours, but never was that into games. Then I went over to a friend's house after Christmas in 2006, and he'd just gotten a new 360 and Oblivion. I tried it out and was immediately hooked. I played it every chance I got, and when I finally moved out of my parent's place in 2009 and got my own place and was able to buy my own shit, I bought Oblivion and played it nearly every time I had the chance for the next year. I'll always have a special place in my heart for Oblivion as the game that made me a gamer.
Omega172 bethesda is one of my favorites but if they keep doing stuff like going to e3 just to show paid mods and a dishonored dlc they'll lose alot of customers but I'm pumped for the new wolfenstien and I love the new quake so only time will tell
Pr0totyp3 _09 That doesn't address my point. You allege that Oblivion is better because it isn't remastered like Skyrim. But no one is forcing you to play the remasters. So I still fail to see how that is relevant at all.
I loved the way the soundtrack helped me immerse myself in the world. The music made me feel like I was walking around in an enchanted forest, or that there was actual danger when an enemy came out of nowhere. The soundtrack is the part that really made me feel like I was the one doing all of these things, not just my character.
I vaguely remember that quest with the Ninroot plants which were scattered all around the wolrd. Also maybe my favorite moment was when I had to equip that really heavy ring for mage's guild and I've lost my weapons in the grass, as I had to swim in a fountain!
personally I like this kind of videos. when I'm playing Oblivion back, anything about them is barely exciting me. probably I played it over and over, thousands of times. who knows. however your video really makes me appreciated such great game and why I enjoyed it for ages before. capturing the good impressions and inspirations when I first played this game. good work, my man.
Strangely enough, I still play Oblivion to this day. I love looking back at the quests and remembering all the details that made the game so fun. I'd have to say that the dark brotherhood quest line was my favorite part of oblivion. Along with the "Troll bridge" Easter egg
