Have you been experiencing some nagging hip pain? Maybe it's bothering you during long walks, getting up from a chair, or even getting out of bed in the morning, making you feel old and stiff. I understand how this annoying hip pain can stop you in your tracks and keep you from enjoying life. Today, we're going to talk about what not to do if you're experiencing this hip pain and what can make it worse.
As a physical therapist specializing in women's health and pelvic floor therapy, I've seen many women with chronic hip pain that comes and goes. A common culprit for worsening symptoms is doing squatting exercises, which can tense and tighten the muscles around the hip joint, leading to more irritation. Flexing at the hip joint, especially if you have bursitis, can cause the muscles to become imbalanced and the pain to worsen.
Instead, focus on stretching the muscles around your hip to improve flexibility and strength without overdoing it. Key stretches, like the figure four stretch, can help prevent hip pain by affecting the rotation of your hip and reducing irritation. Avoiding squatting motions, stair stepping, and focusing on isolated glute exercises can also help manage your hip pain and improve your mobility. Taking these steps can make a significant difference in your daily comfort and ability to stay active.

Thank you. I need all the help I can get for my frozen hip. I also have torn meniscus in my knee on the same side, so my pain is more than just hip related. It goes from my knee to my lower back as well. Do you have any suggestions for that?
