I used to work at a mall across the street from police station and we had a deal with these turnouts. Hundreds of kids running around causing chaos, starting fights and jumping on parked cars. The police couldn't do anything about it because the city officials tied their hands because they didn't want the spike in arrest to look bad on their quarterly report. The worst part was that They used to go to another mall in another city but the police were empowered by their city officials. The cop showed up in force they even brought out the Patty wagon. Dozens of kids got arrested and that was the last time that mall had a turn out.
People keep blaming parents.. How long can that really go on... It's not like these people don't know what they are doing is wrong... I had terrible parents too but I don't act like this... They are responsible for their own actions
I will always blame the government/judicial system for giving these single "mothers" for "diplomatic immunity" for their crimes on all levels of abuse from (the child well being to psychological warfare) being done to these children so that the sons and daughters will repeat what "mama" instilled in them. The only difference is that the sons are getting punished for these same acts. These boys are either losing their livelihood, their freedom, or their lives. These organizations/corporations are profiting off of blacks dysfunctions because blacks as a whole are not providing any positive substance to society so "they" are collecting their money from off of blacks in other ways.

My ancestors lived in the neighborhoods of Chicago, since the 1800's, that were majority white and are now black. When the blacks moved in some of my older family members refused to leave, but eventually they got fed up with the bad behavior and left. They were some of the last whites to leave. It's sad what has happened to those parts of Chicago. The black neighborhoods may get better someday but not in our lifetime. It's a culture problem. A culture of glorifying crime and turn a blind eye to it.

Parent raises your kids respect and class. It starts at home...problem 99% of those kids have 10 brothers and sisters and live in a one bed room appartment with only the mother. So everyone is pushed on the streets.

Regardless of the color of your skin or who you are, if you commit multiple crimes (especially at places and times of civil unrest) and you are convicted, your entire family should be punished financially (no more government assistance for mom or auntie especially if you’re going to be using everyone else’s tax dollars to only commit crime which then costs even more government money to mitigate and solve), if parents don’t care about their children’s actions or whereabouts then they should also be held accountable and not get paid for “raising” criminals regardless of race.

Well, to be honest most of these "kids" probably know they're going to end up in prison anyway. Terrible parenting, terrible messaging from their communities, parents, the media that nothing is their fault and they can get away with anything. Time for a Teen curfew. No one under 18 out after 9 pm unless are coming from work or school. Then hold parents accountable when violated. This needs to be addressed before summer hits.

Moved out of Chicago almost 20 years ago and it's sad to see it has gotten worse. I say call in the national guard, lock them all up, and then if they find out if their families receive assistance and remove it for one year minimum

Saw a clip of teens assaulting a woman who was trying to escape into her building. 20 something teens were punching and kicking her. If you live in Chicago leave the city has abandoned their residents. Plenty of safer cities exist.

That’s what happens when you don’t let officers do their job and take them streets back! Parents need to do their job. I looked at the stats from the incident and it said 100% were African American teens who caused damages and acted out.
I think this mayor is trying to be rational in a bad situation, but this will be his first test!! And a big one! He’s going to be faced with the challenge of trying to cull this new culture, and hold them at bay simultaneously! If that fails he will be force to make some hard decisions here! It’s the parent’s responsibility to raise their own children not the city of Chicago, police, mayor, or school teachers etc… !! Sick of the excuses. My mom & dad had six and didn’t have major problems with us. We played as kids, went swimming at the park district, mall, movies etc…. If there were always things to do in the 80’s I’m sure there’s even more in 2023.
My mom come from 10 siblings. All ALIVE and well. My generation (the grandchildren). All alive and doing well. I am so proud that we have our own. No jail nor trouble. But, we got our ass beat too. We respected GOD, our parents , grandparents and neighbors.

My family always has family reunions in Florida, this year the Albany NY, TX, and Chicago side of the family wanted a change this year so suggestions were offered. When the Chicago family spoke and suggested anything the main issue with ALL of the family was SAFETY. A big chunk of the family flat out said they are not going if the reunion is in Chicago. We chose Corpus Christi, TX.
Put it on lock down, curfew and roll in the national guard. Parent living there, Where are your teenage kids? Inforce if your teen kid is arrested as a participant in this the parents will also be charged.
As a foreigner, I don't understand why these American teens find destroying stuff entertaining. It looks like they were having fun smashing cars, etc.. Very confusing. In my country, (in retrospect of my teenage years), having fun means going to movie theatres, parks, play soccer, and other stuff, definitely not destroying things.

I used to come to Chicago to shop at Marshall Fields, stores on Michigan Ave. & Water Tower Place. Those days are OVER! If you don't think what happened in Detroit couldn't happen to Chicago when you let bad people get away with wild behavior, your in for a BIG surprise.
