Wyman and Bob discuss what will determine who the next Seahawks head coach will be. Listen to Wyman and Bob, weekdays from 2pm to 7pm on Seattle Sports 710am!
I'd literally be happy with either guy! The appeal with Johnson is that this is an offensive league and we can lose OCs and not have a massive dropoff. But Macdonald has helped beat SF and other high powered offenses which is what we need the most... Its a win win imo
The funny thing is you guys talk about not waiting till after the SB to be able to talk to KC and SF…. Hmm really well those are the teams that are leading the way on how you should play football that’s why they’ve been so good on both sides of the ball and hard to beat.. so there DC and OC we should go after not that they are geniuses but they always are in the SB and dominate
Maybe this is harsh but this show is a tough listen for me. It gets recommended cause I listen to Brock and Salk. How do these guys not recognize that even if Ben Johnson is their #1 candidate, that he may choose the Commanders job over this one, and that’s why you have to set up more interviews? Surprised they didn’t even name that as an option. I think that’s likely because JS hinted at wanting an offensive guy and many see Johnson as the best option from the start of this whole process
They should ask the candidates how well they cope with traveling long distances. Seattle is a long ways from all other NFL teams while Baltimore and Detroit have a lot of short road trips.
Seahawks have been doing their homework on these guys for awhile. It will not take long to determine if Ben is the top guy. They cannot end the night without signing him. The commanders would do the same and hire Mike MacDonald if he was their top choice.
Thurs 8 Feb or Fri 9 Feb a new era will begin via a PR announcement & lots of good candidates in Mike Mac & Johnson & Vrabel & Quinn are all good candidates. Its best for schneider to be patient & make final decision on Thursday 8 Feb & sign contracts on 8th or Fri 9th Feb. According to the UK Maths Profs that timing is best for maximising the draft & FA signings after letting Mike Mac - Johnson - Quinn - Vrabel soothe the pain of losing winnable games in playoffs
Both are viable, if Johnson, then DCs are easily replaced and not generally cherry pick every year. If Old McD, then expect OC to get taken eventually. Both are from East and spouses too and family matters when moving. Ben’s are youngsters, MM is ND graduated. Localism for MM as MD is basically Washington DC. Ben wants 15m , prob bring a coach or two. MM same, and there are Ravens and SF ties there. As Washington taking QB, 60/40 on Ben. So if it is MM, which I tend to gather, maybe who at OC? Perhaps Michigan ties?
@Krycek21 EB as an offensive coordinator may be the best we can do this year depending on how that market looks after the hire and then who whoever we hire can bring on with them. I'd honestly target have Slowik from Houston that DQ if we cannot get MM. Or Vrabel. But I'm not excited about DQ at the HC. Watching him collapse against GB and make no adjustments sealed the deal for me. Keep him away from Seattle as HC!!!
I'd gladly take the defensive coordinator who demolished all opposing offenses, Macdonald, vs the lions who couldn't score on the 49ers, the team the hawks play twice if not 3 times a year.... defense wins championships... why the ravens loose, they held the all mighty chiefs 17 points, an 0 in the second half.. the ravens offense couldn't score why, oh the chiefs defense..
The Hawks may want Ben Johnson...but that doesn't mean Ben Johnson decides to come to Seattle! So of course they are lining up a meeting with Mike McDonald.
You think the commanders job is better then Seattle? Not a chance. If he wants to be in the best position to win then you only go to Washington DC if that's the last option available.
@@OblivionRide_11 I think Seattle is a better destination as well. Washington has the number 2 pick and a boat load in the top 100 along with $80M in cap space. That could be appealing to someone looking to build a team up in their own image. I'm just saying that ultimately he decides so it is not just a simple matter of Seattle 'wanting' him. I believe most analysts think he will be taking the Commanders job. Ben is my top choice and I sure hope we get him bro!
What in the world are you talking about?! 😂 It's the NFL. There are only 32 Head Coaching jobs in the world. Even if your ridiculous premise were correct, someone would interview for the opportunity. But honestly, you're not serious 😂
The amount of cash, guaranteed at that, these guys make, and there’s only 32 of these jobs. Schedule’s be damned, unless the person doesn’t want the Seattle job.
Harbaugh was never an option. He wanted total control like Pete had, JS and several other teams were never going to give him that. Not to mention that Harbaugh wanted Herbert and has a top 6 pick. That's easily the most attractive job out there, he can walk in and make the playoffs@@dogzillamonster That's why we "lost" Harbaugh
When they fired PC they might as well have fired JS too. Clean sweep. Fix the f'ing trenches for starters, may as well hire Jalen Carter as 'HC' since he can at least freaking tackle.
JS knows he's got to win at this hire. But take in mind that he has never had full control on drafts and hires. PC carried a lot of sway in all those decisions. We'll see what JS is about this year and next year and sew if he's worth his paycheck. I'm guessing he is amd what you don't want to do is get emotional and fire somebody who has the ability to make the team much better but it's a risk it could get much worse if he's fired and replaced. The GM position I why half the teams in this league do not win games. How they draft and how they hire. And JS drafts better than most. We need to see him get back to 2012 and 2013 drafting. But he's still played a massive role in some very good draft picks coming to Seattle recently.
