What would Red Dead Redemption 3 Even Look Like? 

I don't care if I'm 50 when it comes out on Playstation 8. I'll still play it.

I don't really care which way they take the story as long as it stays in the wild west. Being a wild west game is what gives RDR it's charm and is what made it so popular. I have been gaming since 1980 and over the years I have played countless games, RDR2 is by far the most immersive and detailed game I've ever played. I know which ever way they take the story it's going to be great, Rockstar are masters at storytelling.

Three possibilities imo : - The beginning and the rise of Dutch’s gang. - New characters , new protagonist , story set in the golden age of the wild west with a little cameo for fan service. ( Maybe a mission involving Hosea or Arthur’s Father ) - The life of Landon Rickets.

I Think Either Completely New Story, Or A RDR2 Prequel Where You Play as Mac Callander in the 1880s at the start of the Gang, Ending with Blackwater, and then an Arthur Epilouge

They should do a pick up on jacks story line after the end of rdr1

I think it should open with an older jack telling his grandson about his life!and the first 1/4 of the game should be from his perspective as a kid as you play interchangeably between John and Arthur(the two who most shaped his young days). Then 1/4 you play as jack figuring out what his purpose is after he’s killed his father’s killers. Then 1/4 where we get out of the west and go to the west front and fight in WW1( I know it’s not the west but imaging using deadeye in No Mans land)! And the final 4th should be us avenging are grampas (jacks) death after an old enemy from the war comes and gets revenge against him!

in part 3 i hope they show how John meets Abigal for the first time

Red Dead Redemption 3 will possibly be about the early days of the Van Der Linde gang. There's so much content in RDR2 like the Blackwater ferry heist, and Dutch's rivalry between Colm O'Driscoll. In RDR2 there is multiple unknown characters that are mainly just mentioned such as, Jenny, and Mac Callander. Even another robbery most people possibly did not hear about the first robbery of the Van Der Linde gang where they stole 5,000$ worth of gold, and gave it to the poor. I doubt RDR3 will take place after the events of RDR as it would not longer be a wild west game, and just a World War 1 game. Yet, the end of RDR1 already takes place in the end of the wild west. The American Frontier (Wild West) ended in 1912. So there will be no point on making a game after that year.

Whenever I hear people talk about a red dead 3 time setting it’s almost always in the past. While I do think it would be nice to be able to explore the Wild West during its golden years I don’t think rockstar is going to give up that central theme of the west dying and a transition into the industrial age because it really give an interesting dichotomy to the world and gameplay. I really think the perfect time settings for the franchise themes would be set between 1895 - 1914. There were more gangs and outlaws on the run from Pinkerton/Federal govt would be interesting to see more stories covering these events

your idea of an anti hero civil war protagonist is great. one of the biggest complaints people had about arthur morgan is he seemed to have weirdly anachronistic sensibilities for being a rugged violent outlaw

would be cool if it was about athurs father, a outlaw of the time who is known for being quite harsh and dangerous where as the story continues he trys to redeem himself to be better himself, knowing he now has a son (athur) and where the game ends that Arthur never actually got to see the good of his dad.

Could be a game where Dutch is the same age as Jack in RDR2 and he’s growing up around a new protagonist and their gang. We could finally explore the life that would cause a young child to grow up and become the Dutch that we know. It may allow us to have a little sympathy towards Dutch and force us to explore some uncomfortable feelings. It also would allow us to explore a whole new set of characters. I’ve thought about it a while, I really think this is the most interesting story possible.

1 thing I’m hoping for is that they won’t add online for red dead 3, red dead 2 had so much more potential but they wasted it on online.

Give us the early years of the gang. Start with Dutch meeting Arthur etc and playable characters Arthur , Dutch and John

I love the Charles Idea where we follow him up to meeting the vanderlin gang and the epilogue could be his journey after we last see him in rdr2 or even between the end of rdr2 and it’s epilogue, however I’ve had a theory for a long time that davey would be the protagonist of rdr3 and we would take over as Arthur with the epilogue be what follows right after and that would be when we see what happened at black water, ultimately I just loved rdr2 and am exited to see what the next iteration becomes I’m sure rockstar will make a amazing story

I genuinely think another prequel, ending with the events of Blackwater that lead to the gang escaping into the Mountains would be cool! It's what they did with 2, going back and then bridging over to the original. Kinda makes sense to keep up that precedent. Don't know who you'd play as, I'd say, certainly not Dutch, I don't think that would make sense. A younger Arthur maybe? Have the game set over several years... Or again, like 2 did Arthur would be a companion NPC and play as a new/old gang member character. I think it's mentioned someone was captured after Blackwater and killed? Could be that character, since yanno Rockstar like killing off the main protagonist at the end of Red Dead games.

Lol it’s kinda crazy that you’re the first person I’ve seen that hasn’t suggested they had to stay with the Van Der Line/Marston characters. And the suggestion you brought up is a premise I wholeheartedly want to see, like go further back show us the glory days! Have the gunslingers from RDR2 cameo, and can show them in their prime. I mean Black Belle and Landon Ricketts would be so neat to see!

If Rockstar has RDR3 comes out and is set in Civil War they should bring back Mickey as a random encounter with all his limbs

There would be no redemption if it was about Dutch but still a good idea …the most important that it has to stay in the same theme of the van der linde gang and maybe about those who died in blackwater …remember that it’s a redemption about someone or something

I’d like to see the game set on the west coast with Portland oregon at the top of the map and San Francisco at the southern end of the map. Micah lived in the Bay Area for a time so we could have run ins with him and get some back story. Trelawny spent time in oregon, maybe we could help him perform scams in small mountain towns or in the big city. I would love to see how rockstar represents the landscape of the Pacific Northwest with its diverse biomes, mountains, coastline and dense forests. I believe this area would provide tons of potential for story, map design and characters.

I have an great idea. Story would follow dutch story in gap 1899-1911 and Jack in 1915 at the same time. Dutch story would be how he achived his revenge then redemption back to be insane pyshopacht. Jack would have to run and don't look back since forhand found him. But before he leaves he will try to understand what happened to dutch after 1899.

I'm expecting it to come out autumn 2026 that's being optimistic

Here’s my possibility You play as a young US Marshall in 1880’s America. The expansion of the railroad in post civil war america. The story will be heavily morally grey (like the Witcher with the lesser evil choices), vast landscapes, hostile native tribes, gangs running towns due to lack of law and order, corruption in the railroad. The weapons are what’s gonna determine the setting, 1880’s is closest to modern firearms and not muskets.

They have to make it about the time when Arthur Hosea and then Arthur meet go trough every single story begin in like 1860 or what and then go until the blackwster heist where then you can do this with no errors so the gang don’t go trough the events of rdr2 but create something different as an sourcing for the epilogue of rdr3

idk why a bunch of people don't want the gang anymore instead playing as natives or some other random ppl being realistic if rdr3 does happen it would probably be another sequel there are several mentions that a bunch of other stuff happened before the gang ended up in the blackwater area like a traitor mentioned in chapter 3 or ''trouble'' and a fire in the camp north of the map mentioned in the journal instead dudes are like ''yeah gang story that existed for like 20 years is over let me play in 1855 as a native or sum shiet''

If they do another prequel you’ll play as a member of the ODriscolls. The map will expand further west and north.

I think there will be multiple protagonists you play as and alternate throughout the chapters similar to GTA5. I don’t think going further back in the Red Dead timeline makes a lot of sense. Whether it’s young Dutch or young Hosea or the Callendars, etc. It’s tough to get invested in characters we know their eventual fate and a prequel of a prequel feels derivative. A game set in the years between RDR2 and RDR1 works, and the PCs and NPCs could be a combination of some new , and some familiar ones. I actually think a dark horse candidate as one protagonist could actually be Karen Jones. She’s the one gang member we never officially learn her final fate, and I suspect Rockstar did that intentionally. Tilly said in a letter that she suspects Karen drank herself to death, but she really doesn’t know that for sure and it’s not confirmed. Karen could be alive and this game is partially a bit of her own personal redemption story to get herself together and find a new life as a gunslinging adventurer, kind of a Quick and the Dead type character.

I want at least 2 more games about the gang, one with the rise of it and one with the events after rdr1 with Jack

The year is 1876. You get to pick are you a former Union or confederate soldier. The war has been over long enough that the damage has mostly been rebuilt but close enough that people are still angry about it. You could have cap and ball revolvers and level up to conversions and then to the colt single action in 1872. Pepper in some Americana with the 100 year anniversary of America and you’ve got RDR3.

I personally think Landon rickets will be the protagonists and it will all lead to the black water massacre. This will lead to lead to red dead 2 which leads to red dead 1. it just makes sense In terms of world I wanna see more of the Wild West Maybe the Region above armadillo More of the mexici region and more to the left of the map. Rdr2 already expanded pretty good to the north and east

Hot take but I DON'T want to play as a gunslinger for red dead 3. Imo I think we should get a new perspective and our protagonist be one of the Native Americans. Have it take place before rdr2. Maybe have the protagonist get muddled in with outlaw affairs by accident and he gets roped into their ways, while his tribe chastise him for turning down that path. In the end, we should get to choose who to stay loyal to. Your tribe or the outlaw gunslingers. I also think it would be the perfect way to introduce new weapons and mechanics. Such as using bow and arrows, setting up traps to take down enemies or hunt wild animals, and maybe some bit of climbing mechanics

It has been five years there’s no way they wouldn’t have atleast a have very early pre alpha, or the narrative done, even if gta6 was all hands on deck, they’d have many people still working on red dead it is a massive company

Young Landon Ricketts, easy.. Make the map rural NorCal, Nevada and Baja. The story is about Ricketts and his older brother James, trying to become famous gunslingers, only for his older brother to die when their teens, and Landon hunts down his killer. Gets his revenge, and that’s the prologue. He start slowly cementing himself in the world of gunslingers. He meets all the people from the cigarette cards, and Calloway missions, and even gets a Stranger mission with young Dutch, Hosea, and teen Arthur as a “?“ On the map. You could help them, steal their supplies back from a rival gang or something. Or maybe the mysterious camp member that was murdered in camp that Arthur references to Tilly in chapter 3, could be Colm O’Driscoll’s brother or something. Who knows. All I know is RDR3 needs to somehow slightly connect to 1 & 2, and needs to be set in the heydays of the wild west. A Jack or Sadie game would be cool, but by that point, the gun slingers are over.. I think it has a lot of potential.

Last chapter Could be play as Colm O'Driscoll taking his revenge this sets up The O'Driscoll Boys trying to kill Dutch then twist character change you are Micah Bell saving Dutch life then a Jump forward to The Blackwater You get to play as Micah Bell and learn more of his back story was Micah in same boat as John was in RDR1 sell out the gang get out Jail card endless possibilities Now this gives lot of options for story telling and polt twists working with Dutch Van der Linde "the two maintained a loose and uneasy partnership" the influences say that Hosea had on Colm's brother and Dutch idea 'better world'. abd we would get to see the story of Van der linde game from the outside The Game Lore is That Dutch Van der Linde met the infamous outlaw named Colm O'Driscoll, leader of his own gang The O'Driscoll Boys. The two maintained a loose and uneasy partnership as Dutch disliked how Colm treated his own men as disposable, Colm likewise mocked Van der Linde for his philosophy in making a 'better world'. Although the exact reason is unknown, Dutch broke the truce and killed Colm's brother. In retaliation Colm murdered Annabelle which left Dutch greatly angered and heartbroken over her death. This event caused Dutch and Colm to become arch-enemies and sparked a years-long blood feud between the two rival gangs.

What if rdr3's main protagonist is Jackie, Sadie's husband and her life before the gang. In the main game you'll play as him, but in the epilogue, you'll play as Sadie and see what she has been up to in the time between Arthur's death and the first epilogue of rdr2

Either it's going to be Jack Marston in a future telling stories about the past, which woman helped them to continue the series or the 1880s were the gang was started and you're playing as Hosea and the epilogue is the Blackwater Ferry Heist

I like the idea of a "gta liberty city storys" or "gta vice city storys" approach. But hear me out "red dead redemption Sadie", not rdr3, use the rdr2 map, and start with Sadie escaping the van derlin gang, or even doing that final mission with aurther, becoming the bouty hunter, and finishing with her owning her transport company.

I think it would be cool if they did a prohibition era/Great Depression set game in the dust bowl since that time period & place has a lot of parallels to the old west. Think Al Capon, Bonnie & Clyde, John Dillinger, that kind of stuff. You could also include an older Jack Marston in that case.

You do know deadeye came from revolver right? U do know red Harlow is mentioned in the redemption games right? U do know redemption 2 was actually code named ‘’Red Dead redemption 3’’ At one point during its development? If u seen or even played revolver or have any research at all yea it’s the ‘’Official’’ first game in the series smh.

I would like to see a game involving Abigail raising Jack and also having to deal with some new antagonist or an old one and also gets her own sort of story. And also dies like John by trying to protect Jack so we could see how she actually died.

I have given up on rockstar, would love to see it but it's not gonna happen. At least not in the next 20 years. Maybe 30 years, so I wouldn't get my hopes up.

red dead 3 should be set in the golden age of the wild west, farther in the past, sorry but that’s the only correct answer lmao. and it should not be connected to the van der linde gang. new characters, new places. could have some cameos for fan service, but shouldn’t be too much. id like to see someone on the other side of the law, maybe a marshal or bounty hunter, and maybe this story, instead of turning good, like how arthur and john became good men in the end, maybe this character could turn bad and lose his mind in the end, and that could be the heartbreaking moment rather than the death of the protagonist, sort of like a moral death.

Given the current trend in popular entertainment, it would probably be woke garbage.
