finally someone so focused I don't have any questions or doubt ❤❤❤❤ Today my fasting glucose is 91mg and I am so happy!!! I started measuring it because I've always been super thin but I gained a lot of weight due to stopping being active and processed sweets😅 + my non-bio dad has been diagnosed with t2 ( he is in his 70s). It's like a few weeks I check it and today it's the first time I am that low (usually 100-106mg at the 8th hour mark)

Great videos. From what I understand is that the CGM are about 15-20 mins behind what you would read in the blood glucose monitor. I think it has something to do with it measuring glucose in the tissue vs the blood. Again, thanks for the videos.

Thanks for the input! I've heard the same about the lag time. Unfortunately, I find the CGM to be way off sometimes when I haven't eaten for awhile and my blood sugar shouldn't be doing crazy ups and downs :(

I just subscribed because my story is almost exactly like yours, except I have one child that’s now 21. I think I’ve been insulin resistant for years, but my eating habits have improved so much over the last 8-10 years that its been “under control” of sorts. I recently got the libre 3 and so far its been matching my GC meter, and it’s saving me a ton of money in the glucoses sticks. The first day the CGM was a little whack, but it settled down pretty quickly… I’m a whole food plant based vegan and refuse to eat “carnivore” or keto that requires animal sacrifice; like you said, it’s too restrictive (I did it 15 years ago for a short time), it’s bad for the planet and for the animals. My mother did it to try and reverse her type 2 (it runs in the family) and ended up with 2 heart attacks and a quintuple bypass, then a post-surgery stroke. My grandfather died from diabetic complications, my biological father did too (age 58!). Like you, I had a hard time getting pregnant, unreliable periods, cystic acne but no doctor ever took me seriously or cared, but I’m older. Maybe they understand it better now, idk. I’m post menopausal now, so the acne is finally gone 😂. I can tell you I went through menopause FAST… like, my period (which was never regular) left and just never returned. The next year the hot flashes started, but only lasted a few years. Now I only get one on occasion, usually at night as strangely enough, they correspond with my BG rising in the AM - between 3 and 5AM specifically. Anyway, the libre 3 shows an estimated A1c of 6, which is solid pre diabetic, I’m not overweight and I exercise. I’m horrified and so grateful I decided to get the CGM. I’ve been eating mostly low carb vegetables, tofu, some beans (edamame, green beans), etc. Very little fats and oils, and my numbers are great so far. I haven’t had “real” carbs like bread in days so your sourdough experiment was interesting (I live in Italy, the home of carbs! Help!) I almost get the feeling that I’ve been pre diabetic for so long, that I’m basically a diabetic, it’s just not as big of numbers as they report. I’m a mini-diabetic 😅 My cholesterol is great (all well within range), etc. I have no idea what’s going on, but the data is coming in, and then I’m taking it to my primary doctor. I don’t want to be put on metformin, because it will artificially manipulate my BG numbers, and I want to see what’s really going on so I can progress. I’ll be combing through your videos to see what you’ve been doing, and hopefully figure something out. So far you have some good insights I really feel some of us were just born with poop genetics, in some areas

Thanks so much for sharing your story! It does sound like we are a lot alike. But type 2 diabetes doesn't run in my family. I'm almost certain that my insulin resistance developed due to disordered eating for years and years, including a lot of binging and restricting. And I love the term "Mini-diabetic"! I am definitely a mini-diabetic. I heard that menopause increases insulin resistance so I'm sure that contributes to your current health as well. But it sounds like you've got a great handle on everything and you're prioritizing your health in big ways. Thanks so much for watching!

I understand what you're going through. My latest "experiment". On myself has been to attempt one more time Vegetarian/Vegan. (Mastering Diabetes/Reverse diabetes or pre diabetes) I understand that is not sustainable for your lifestyle like you mentioned. I just recently went from 5.7 down to 5.6 a1c. I'm am now following the 21 day vegan kickstart(Free app on Google play) and use a finger stick since the libre tends to be 15-20 points higher or even lower. I'm eating a lot of fruits veggies, oatmeal,tofu,Tempe, beans,sweet potato VERY low fat and low salt. Small amount of nuts and seeds. I'm SO surprised that my glucose never goes above 126! Even with grapes,apple,banana. I'm attempting to eat some Ezekiel sourdough bread next week with no oil using hummus or a little avocado toast not too much and veggies. I have been eating quinoa salads and glucose is stable! No butter, no oils, or very little when air frying sweet potatoes. I've mentioned previously trying the Starch Solution but I think starting with tons of potatoes,rice,pasta was not the way for me to go yet. I might have consumed too much natural fat sources like maybe too many nuts and seeds. Another weakness for me. Check out the free app it has great recipe ideas as well as videos for each day. I too have been on and off keto for several years and fear that might be the source of my insulin resistance? Well people out there believe it causes pre diabetes. BUT since going High Carb Low fat I'm finally sleeping better! Doing keto caused me to wake up between 2-4 or 3-5 am! Well keep up your videos. I look forward to your next one. No reply necessary I know how busy you are juggling everything.

Thanks so much for sharing this. I love hearing about others' experiments, and how everyone's bodies respond differently. It sounds like the HCLF plant-based diet is totally working for you, so great job! I'd love to hear any new developments or insights as you come across them. But so glad you're sleeping better because that helps with insulin resistance a TON. I honestly think that the diet you're on would totally work for me, too but I just don't think I can sustain it. So props to you!

I tend to fall off the wagon eventually. This was the first time I'm able to wiggle the last 6 pounds off the scale as well as not be hungry all the time. I admire you for telling us about your journey. I know how frustrating it can be when the numbers go all over the place. Type 1 & type 2 runs in my family and I already have Hypertension and I don’t want to add type 2 to that list as well. Like you I don’t fit the profile. I’m thin I exercise and do my best to eat right. Like I told you I had an eating disorder back in my early 20’s I thought KETO would prevent me from ever having type 2. I went KETO for 2 1/2 years and had to stop a few months ago because during those 2 years I felt TERRIBLE. Bringing carbs back and watching my numbers go all over the place was pretty scary for me but I knew I had to push through that fear or else this would turn into another eating disorder. Unfortunately I’m in therapy because I still have fear of eating certain hi carb food where before I went KETO I was fine eating ANYTHING!! Stupid KETO diet. I would never recommend that diet to anyone. Hopefully this therapist will help and I’ll be free of fear eating carbs. I think you’re doing great trying to find a balance that works for you! Keep doing what your doing. From someone who understands you, GIRL YOU GOT THIS!! 🎉

@thegoodenoughmama

I have tried it doing 16/8 and found it didn't make too much of a difference for me. On a daily basis I usually go 12-14 hours between dinner and breakfast the next day, which is just my usual routine. Fasting any longer than that hasn't made a big enough impact for me to notice anything.

Very inspiring video dear. Have a question though, is it really true that agave nectar is a low glycemic sweetner?
@thegoodenoughmama
@thegoodenoughmama Год назад
Hello! I haven't used agave nectar and tested my blood sugar with it, so I'm not sure how my body personally responds to it. But I researched it briefly and it sounds like because it's so high in fructose, it is not a recommended sweetener. Have you tried monkfruit or stevia? I find those sweeteners to be better for my blood sugar.
