How well an ethnicity is known is mostly based on visibility. Chinese is the most common, with culture everyone is familiar with, so it’s almost like the default Asian. Japanese, although have small numbers in the States, are obviously popular due to their nation’s prowess. Korean, on the other hand, is a fairly recent phenomenon. I grew up in NorCal, and all the way through college, I had met maybe ten Koreans tops. I never tried Korean food because there weren’t any restaurants around. Obviously, with the recent boom in their media and tech, they are becoming increasingly well received. For Vietnamese, there isn’t much media or industry (other than VinFast). The only real connection people have is through food. For Phillipines, there is even less exposure. Even though their numbers are massive, they don’t really have popular media, famous conglomerates, or even local restaurants (besides Jollibee, Goldilocks, Red Ribbon, etc.). I currently live in an area with a plethora of Filipinos, but I’d be hard pressed to find more than a handful of their restaurants, especially compared to Chinese, Indian, or even Thai.

China has the large population so there will be more chinese than other asians no matter where, but still it would be highly erroneous to actually say china is the "default asian".
To me, southeast Asians specifically Filipinas are the most attractive. Love their skin tone and facial features. They definitely look different than han east asians.

Cool video guys. I went to college from 1992-97 (Double Major) and my friends and I started a UAA (United Asian Americans) club to try and get the Asians to have a sense of community on campus. We ranged from Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese to Korean and Filipino. We had fun hanging out. We had a few white folks in the club too.
Beauty is subjective. And beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But I do think Filipinos, Japanese, Chinese, South Koreans, Vietnamese, Thai, have the looks. Then there are also Mongolians and other Asians too that have so much unique features and beauty. Every ethnicity is beautiful. For me, it is energy too. Does a person I am or surrounded with make me feel good regardless of his or her ethnicity? That is what I find super attractive.

I'm pretty cultured and I won't be able to distinguish with certainty different Europeans, let alone distinguishing Scandanavians from each other, Slavs from each other. I wouldn't be able to distinguish most Africans from each other. I wouldn't be able to distinguish Middle Eastern people from each other (Bahrainian from Yemeni?). I wouldn't be able to distinguish Central Americans from South Americans. Canadians from USA Americans.
Scandinavians all have the same Germanic race.. but you should be able to distinguish between them to the Southern Europeans such as Italian/Spanish. Central and South America have only 3 races - white, brown and black. Canadian and American are nationality not ethnicity

From my understanding, one can't know what ethnicity someone is just by looking. There was a video I watched that had a lineup of Asian people, and they had people guess what ethnicity they were...they all looked different, and they were all Korean.
I can tell most east, SE Asians, and white ppl apart. Ppl do tend to have features based on latitude, for example the more North you go ppl tend to be paler, longer nose Bridge, smaller nasal tip, longer and more squared faces and taller in height, thinner lips. Those closer to equator tend to have shorter nose Bridge, rounder nasal tip, and shorter in height, thicker lips, shorter and rounder faces and darker in color. Of course this doesn't apply 100% of the time but you would be right most of the time.

Actually, not too long ago, I was downtown in the area where I live, and someone greeted me in Spanish, so I greeted him back and asked him how he was...he said that he didn't speak much Spanish...this was done while passing on the sidewalk, so by the time I got over the shock of him thinking I was a native Spanish-speaker, I couldn't tell him that English is my native language hahaha...it was wild.
@@tashaunastewart3354 haha yea, it's very difficult to tell mixed ethnicities. For example my method works pretty well distinguishing north vs south chinese, but in modern day with mass migration and mixing, it becomes more difficult to tell. I guess it's the same for everywhere in the world.

The other-race effect - makes people "see" every asian as the same if they are not asian they dont see the difference. only if they see a LOT of them they will start to group the asian into categories. it also work in the other direction. it's almost the same as the cross-race effect.

The answer would change a lot depending on the ethnicity of the people you ask. White people have really different taste than Black People. Latinos tend to pick the same people Asians would pick. But White and Black people really got different taste with Asians.

You won't see the crazy curves or tattoos or anything like in American porn. And Japanese in Thailand -- compare the girls they choose with the girls that White people choose. Like Twice Momo and Sana are Japanese, but no one looks like them in Japanese media. Still considered beautiful in Japan, but not ideall. There's a lot of hate and racism against Koreans, even among other Asians simply because of jealousy and envy. But other Asians need to realize Korean media, Kpop, etc opens the door for all Asians because once they realize one particular Asian group is attractive, they ascribe the same views toward another group of Asians as well. Any time any Asian content is played in America that is positive for any Asian, whether it's Korean movies, Kpop, Chinese movies with good looking actors or Vietmamese, Indonesia, Philippine media that represent Asians in a positive way, I'm all for it because it inevitability gets Asians in front of the electric screen (TV, movies, Ads, commercials, etc) which normalizes us to the Western culture and constantly viewed as a foreigner. Which gets others to treat Asians as 2nd classe citizen.

Inshallah my future wife will be Palestinian, Lebanese, Iraqi or Yemeni. Frequently people gravitate towards their own ethnic groups. For me, I gravitate towards people from Palestine 🇵🇸, Lebanon 🇱🇧, Syria 🇸🇾, Iraq 🇮🇶, Yemen 🇾🇪 and Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 because those countries are part of my heritage.
Korean, obviously. Because that's what Kim Taehyung is. But then Zhang Ziyi is Chinese and I've always thought she was the most beautiful woman in the world. BUT then, my best friend growing up, her mother was Filipina and she was absolutely stunning, still is, even in her 60s. So, I don't know. Not even trying to be diplomatic here but there are beautiful people from every country, every ethnicity and obviously everybody is going to answer this question through the lens of their own subjective life experiences. But if I had to choose, I'd still say Korean because Taehyung's face is ridiculous and I could stare at him until the end of time.
