A fascinating, dark, and unique experience in Hanford Reach Monument. Towering above the last free-flowing section of the Columbia River, are natural sand dunes and plentiful wildlife. Unique circumstances, like the WWII Manhattan Project, secured this area from humans and allowed nature to thrive. Decommissioned nuclear reactors sit in the distance, where the plutonium for the atomic bomb "Fat Man" was made - dropped over Nagasaki, Japan in 1945.
