Disclaimer: I'm a massive idiot and I totally forgot to include a shoutout for this video, and I only realized it after I rendered the whole thing, and considering the video length it took some 3 hours to render it all, and I don't want to wait for all of that again. I hope you guys understand.
Hey! In this video, I talk about an often pondered inquiry- who is the best player in GD history? I don't give a definitive answer, of course, as that's impossible to do, but I do go over 10 players in chronological order that I think were the best for their time. By this, I mean that in the times that they played the game, they were the best players around compared to other top players. Because this is chronological, the first entry on the list is going to be far less skilled than the last, as they played during vastly different eras of the game and skill had not progressed as far, but they were the best for their time still, if you know what I mean. I hope you enjoy it!
Wow. This is by far my biggest and most ambitious video, and it took me hours upon hours to gather info, write it, and put it all together. I couldn't have done this without the help of Komp and Icedcave, so I want to give a huge thank you to both of them. Sorry about the length, I really didn't intend for this to be almost an hour long, but it just turned out that way despite me doing my best to keep it as concise as possible. This was kinda a one-off project by me, don't expect something of this length for every upload, as this is likely my best work quality-wise and I cant push something to this caliber out every two weeks. I really hope you guys like this, I tried to make it as enjoyable as possible, and I really look forward to what you all have to say about it.

im just gonna leave this here because somehow people are not understanding it- this video is in *chronological order,* and the 10 players are not listed from worst to best. if you payed attention to what i clarified surrounding the start of the video you likely understand this, but with the still significant portion of people who think i am counting them down from worst to best cause they just skip through the video, i felt like i just needed to make this comment. please actually watch the video before commenting, its not that hard again, if you actually watched the video, youd know that i never once determined one specific best player above the rest, as i addressed skill from a perspective of time periods. im not saying nswish is the best player in all of gd history for all the people who just jumped to the end to see who the final choice was, im just saying hes the best for the current modern era. labeling one player as the best over another is impossible, and i understand that, so i would appreciate it if those who are could stop telling me off for attempting to label a single best player when i never did of course, this is definitely not all of you, i just wanted to address the portion of people who click on the video and jump through the 10 players without even understanding what i am trying to accomplish talking about them. if you are gonna do that, please just dont comment at all. its not a top 10, and i want to clarify that as more and more people completely miss the aim of the video. on a more positive note, thank you all so much for the insane support on this project, its been really crazy and you guys are the best

Some extra things not mentioned for some reason: Riot got 96% on sonic wave before sunix verified it. Sunix completed 49 of the top 50 at one point, with subversive being the only missing level. Wooshi recently got a world record of 48% on unnerfed innards as well, showing that despite his inactivity hes still extremely skilled.

The best gd player is obviously player. The green name he has is robtop's way of giving him game-wide recognition for his insane achievements, which will remain unparalleled for years to come. Cranking out levels by the second, this man also has unlimited creativity, as demonstrated by Eric Van Wilderman's various level showcases. Many have accused him of hacking due to not recording his achievements, but if you ask me, it's a gift to us; if we saw player's raw skill, it would be so high we would all lose motivation to even play GD knowing we will never reach his level

alright, i have a couple of things to say about this who would i deem the best GD player of all time? right now, nobody. there are so many factors to consider regarding who is actually the best player. using nSwish as an example, on one end you can say he is the best player for his incredible achievements on The Demon List. on another end, you can say he is a rather poor player for not wanting to beat the demon gauntlets, hacking them out of boredom instead of putting the time and effort (reference to his Twitter). he is a great player in difficulty but not stargrinding, which is the case for most players on here there are more things involving playing you can be great at in this game and many of the esteemed top players of our time have been pretty sub-par on other departments. a pretty fun way to notice this is the case is watching some of our deemed top players play the Viprin Challenge. it caught me by surprise how some seemingly simple parts were difficult for them to sight-read which is a skill you don't really need for grinding the top demon list. The Demon List can only define skill so much, especially with how artificial and similar most of the top levels are up there nowadays in my eyes, the best gd player would be someone that can beat top extremes incredibly well, have insane sight-reading abilities, be able to collect stars, diamonds and user coins very efficiently and the ability to understand very complex gameplay parts with ease. the player i would say is the closest to reach that threshold would probably be Luqualizer. i wouldnt say he is quite there yet since he is not fully capable to beat the top levels as easily as some others on here. within time, perhaps we will see that happening. one of these days great efforts in this video though, some of the info from the old players were new to me so it was interesting to hear

this is super interesting perspective on best player of all time, it’s interesting to see other people’s definitions for sure. i didn’t think of it like this in this video of course, i kinda thought of it more as who could beat the hardest stuff the fastest and have the most achievements, but yeah that’s just the angle i made it from. super good comment !

I really like your approach to the question! This is incredibly interesting and while I agree with all of your points made, personally (in my own opinion, not their opinion so you all don't whine about his or my comment), I think of the best player as in the player who can beat the hardest levels in the game so that would probably be Nswish (I'm not a pro so I can't say that nswish is the best player but assuming from the fact that he easily beat the top 75 at some point, I think he's the best although someone like swiborg is currently verifying some of the hardest levels so idk).

People say nSwish is overrated even though he has more list points than any one else. Some people may argue "well ___ did it in less attempts," but nSwish is really good at a variety of gamemodes and gameplay considering he's done the top 75 without too much trouble and is still going. He also doesn't have an insane number of subscribers.

Plus he has beaten the entire top 75 and is currently the only one to do so and he is still continuing with extremes, just not as frequently as before.

Note on Blass: Blass said he was going to beat the top 10 demons so that's why he was beating all those difficult demons. And he left after beating Yatagarasu because with that he had completed the top 10 demons and he was satisfied with what he'd accomplished.

First of all, this is an incredible video that was interesting the whole way through. The one thing i question is that you did not include surv. Surv was widely considered the best at his time (speaking from experience i was there at the time), being the first player in history to beat the top 10 demons, which has been done many times now, but Surv did it first. he got good progress on unnerfed Yatagarasu, including 33% and some other runs, and he beat the official version in two days, even before sunix did. Surv was the first victor of several extremes, such as phobos and conical depression, when those were top 3 demons. He has honestly quite like nSwish is today, beating the top demons in a matter of days. I feel he fits into the timeline of this video between riot and Blass, and i really feel like he should have been included for being the first to do the top 10 alone. But great vid anyway, and thanks to anyone who read that whole essay lol.

As someone who’s been with hotball since 2016 as a mod and a friend, it was really nice to see him on here. Yes he became toxic as time went on but I loved seeing him make his rise up to the top. I even collabed with him and was there when he did many of his crowning achievements. I think there should be an honorable mention to sid125, a very unknown player who for a long time played at 60hz using bypass, completing zodiac 3 times, one of them being at 120fps, complete the golden at 165hz and tartarus at 60hz 300fps along with sonic wave at 60hz 120fps and a rebeat at 100hz, he played before the bypass was legal so that took away his recognition, even still being a very underrated player even today, he is currently the best Hispanic player Pd: Besides of that, awesome video (Sry for bad english)

I quit the game a few years back, this is a very well put together video and definitely took me on a nostalgia trip. One thing I will say is that in the time before I quit the one player I remember a lot is Skullo. At the time he beat Yata in the least amount of attempts at the age of 12 or something crazy. I realize he was around when Sunix was in his prime but still thought I should mention him as he had many notable achievements 🤔🤷

Alright, the recongnizable top players from 1.9 and beyond are: -Sunix -Surv -Wooshi -Nswish -Technical -BlassCFB -rori -Mycrafted -Riot -hotball1 -Skullo -Crazen -Dolphy Out of all these a think that Sunix at his prime was better than the others because he was just so insanely fast with new top demons. Also he was a master in all gamemodes. You could say that Nswish is better but for me the thing that makes Sunix at his prime better is that he had better memorization skills than Nswish (Sunix beat Killbot very fast while Nswish didn´t even want to try Super Probably Level due to having a ton of memorization required).

I'm quite shocked you went with only the hardest demon grinders for this... Michigun was so much ahead of his time when he came to stargrinding, being lightyears ahead of people on pc, while being on mobile, being able to beat insane demons. Hell, after quitting, it took months for him to get overtaken for the #1 spot, a spot he held for 2-3 years. I understand what you mean by the greatest players, but when it came to dominance in GD, no one compared to Michigun. Today's star grinders are all within a few hundred stars of each other, taking a day break is damn near impossible, and michigun was the only player playing like that back in 2.0. Another catagory would be creator. There have been a few creators dominating the creative scene, the obvious choice being viprin, but he hasnt made a solo level in so long and most of his latest CP has been megacollabs. pre 2.1 Funnygame was considered the best creator of all time, for his innovations and creations that were well beyond their time. Although i do agree that all these players, even the more unknown ones like reduniverse, deserve to be remembered as some of the greats, they didnt dominate, unlike blass, sunix, and now Nswish are doing on the demons list, and we havent seen dominance in the stargrinding community since michi quit because everyone got bunched up. All of these players deserve to be recognized for their skills and achievements, but theres more to geometry dash than just extreme demons.

Very interesting to see !! Obviously, and as you said, you can't speak about all best players, but I think you really miss one, Roria (Rori). I think he's the most underrated player today. I mean he didn't beat a amount of hardests levels, but he did The Golden in 18k attempts !!!!! It's insanely few compared to Nswish who beat it in more of 50k attempts, even if we count the unnerfed version in which he spent a lot of attempts. Indeed , it's not just that. He did a lot of hard demons in very few attempts and it's probably for me one of the best gd players.

well think about it 34 people have beaten zodiac with proof on pointercrate, for sonic wave 300 people have beaten it on pointercrate. riot isnt even close to top 10 at this point anymore, he isnt bad by all means he is still a great player but you cant compare him to the top 10 players nowadays.
