Don’t agree, this is the best version of Rock Bottom. The extended solo in the live version is great but it loses the melodic nature of the original which is what makes it such an iconic solo.

I'm glad to see bassist Pete Way - who sadly passed away in 2020 - getting some love - people tend to not see him in the shadow cast by guitar wizard Michael Schenker. I've seen him live with UFO, Fastway & Waysted - always in his striped spandex with the crotch slipping half way to his knees, always too drunk to stand & always a monster bass playing machine. Steve Harris of Iron Maiden adopted him as his spirit animal - it's where he gets his fashion sense & where Iron Maiden get their 'galloping bass' sound. A friend of mine got to briefly talk to him a reported back that he was both a warm, generous human being & as cool as a Polar Bear's genitals. Much missed - RIP Pete.

@@jeffreycook5186Pete was great with us fans. Got to share a beer with him on 3 occasions and he was happy to talk. But I think I scared him once. In 79 I asked if I could have a little play on his Thunderbird bass. To my astonishment he agreed. He looked very nervous as I had a go. Hell I can hardly play a note but I never forget that moment particularly when I see photographs of him with that T'Bird. He is much missed.

First band I ever saw in concert back in 1977 just before Michael left. The visuals of Michael's black and white flying V & Pete Way's black and white striped suit is forever etched in my mind. I was only able to see them one other time on their reunion/final tour in the late 90's with the Strangers lineup. They played a small venue & did the set list from Strangers in the Night. It was like they had never broke up. Suggestions: Love To Love live from Strangers; Let It Roll, Pack It Up, Natural Thing & Mystery Train with Paul Chapman on guitar.

@@robhansen6370 Well ...Joe Elliot comments on why Obsession is in his top ten album list. "We’d yet to play a gig when we saw UFO, and they opened up with three brand new songs, which was very brave: Hot And Ready, Cherry, and (I think) Only You Can Rock Me. And then they went on to do more familiar material, and we were just gobsmacked. The dynamic on stage between Pete Way’s lunacy and Phil Mogg’s attention-grabbing stance in the middle, and then the mad German on the right with his bucket boots and Flying V. "It was insanely brilliant. Steve Clarke turned around to me and said, “Right. That’s it. I’m leaving if we don’t start playing shows.” Because all we’d done was rehearse for nine months to try and become relatively good at what we did. That show - and that album - were a massive influence on us, because we were listening to the album all the way through the boating holiday. "UFO were and still remain a major influence on us for all sorts of reasons. They were very British, and they had a sense of humour So with the greatest of respect to Never Mind The Bollocks and the first Clash album, I’m going with that one."

YES and finally!!! The great UFO, an amazing hard rock band from the 70s that has been a life long love affair for me. Heard this song for the first time in the car in 1974 on a college radio station, it blew our minds and immediately went looking for the album, Phenomenon. They just got Michael Schenker on guitar from the Scorpions and were off and running with a string of 5 legendary studio albums that influenced ALL heavy rock that followed. That era culminated in the Live masterpiece double album Strangers in the Night Live. You will find the best extended Rock Bottom on it, Schenker is immense and as good a guitar player as you have ever heard. Also from the live album do Lights Out and Love to Love but the whole album is classic. Great choice and about time! They also have 4 great albums with Paul Chapman taking over on guitar after Michael left to form MSG. You have TONS of great songs by UFO, MSG & the Scorpions to explore. Enjoy!!! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎹🎶

A perfect representation of the late 60's, early 70's hard rock that was taking over our world. It was some of the best of the time. Music was changing so fast that it was hard to keep up. Just imagine the feeling of being stoned, having had a few drinks, most of your inhibitions gone, colored, flashing lights and dancing around the dance floor, not caring who's watching. This was the best time of my life.

Michael Schenker (lead guitar) was the Scorpions original member, and he quit the band in 1973 to join UK rockers U.F.O. and wrote the music that transformed U.F.O. into an exceptional rock band in the 70's... This 1974 album 'Phenomenon' was his first for U.F.O. They were a huge influence on bands like Iron Maiden, Metallica, and even Scorpions... Unfortunately, Michael Schenker bailed out by 1978 after recording the live album 'Strangers in the night'... He briefly rejoined Scorpions before leaving to form his own band M.S.G. (Michael Schenker Group) The original U.F.O. was formed by Phil Mogg (vocals), Pete Way (bass) and Andy Parker (drums)... after Michael Schenker (lead guitar) joined, the band soon added (the late) Paul Raymond (keyboard/ 2nd guitar). U.F.O. carried on in the 80's but were unable to recapture their success without Schenker... In 1995, Michael Schenker reunited w/ U'F.O. and recorded 3 new albums by 2002, but quit again in 2003... American guitarist Vinnie Moore joined U.F.O. in 2004 and the band found renewed popularity... Sadly, both bassist Pete Way and keyboardist Paul Raymond have passed away... Phil Mogg (vocals) announced he was retiring after a farewell U.F.O. tour, but canceled it after a heart attack in 2022. Michael Schenker still records and tours under the name M.S.G. and Temple of Rock... and often performs U.F.O. songs. More U.F.O. songs - 'Lights out'... 'Too Hot to handle' ... 'Doctor doctor' ... 🤘🤘🔥

The thing I love about the old rock from this period is the dry mix they used on the production, Not too much reverb so that it's right up in your face! Like early Black Sabbath, early ZZ Top, early Grand Funk Railroad, etc, had that _nice clean dry_ sound.

My first show was RUSH and UFO. Michael Schenker is one of the best live guitar players ever. Strangers in the Night is still considered the best hard rock live album ever recorded. Michael was the first lead guitar player for the Scorpions.

MIchael Schenker is the brother of Rudolf Schenker, and sometimes played with the Scorpions as well. Great, great guitarist!! I saw him with his own group in Germany in 1983.

I graduated high school in 1980. If you went to a kegger (party) in the late 70's, THIS was blasting out of the speakers -or the garage band was trying to play it...Good memories -thanks!

Hell yes. Michael Schenker A.K.A the Mad axe man. true guitar God. He's one of the main reasons I started playing guitar. I met him back in, I believe it was 2000 or 2001. I went to record a few songs and he was also finishing up an album at the same studio in Phoenix. He was way cool. he listened in on one song and told me i needed to tune my guitar to standard tuning and it would sound better. And of course, it. Interviewed him about 6 years later and he was so cool to talk to. he sent me one of his signature pickups a few weeks later. You guys should check out his solo stuff.

I've heard this song 1000 times, and I have never heard it played this fast before. Sounds like it was speeded up. Greatest rock riff ever though, in my book.

I enjoy your reaction videos and that Michael Schenker the German guitar player for the band is a great guitar player I’m 66 years old and remember listening to UFO back in the 70s, great guitar player overall good songwriter specially with a lot of his solos just the guitar parts in general. UFO is from the UK & Schenker I think is the only German guy in the band and probably by far the most well-known, but overall a really good band. I play guitar myself. Live in North Carolina.

Guitarist Michael Schenker was lead guitarist of The Scorpions when they recorded their debut album in 1971. He was just 16 at the time. His brother Rudolph was a founding member and is with The Scorpions to this day.

UFO is still one of the best live acts I ever saw ( always an opening act- never the head liner) and had a great run in the mid 70's with this lineup of musicians (Michael Schenker-lead,Pete Way-bass,Phil Moog-vocals,Larry Wallis-drums) and put out 3 solid studio albums and a live album considered to be 1 of the best ever pressed in a short 4-5 year span but unfortunately like many bands of the time members came and went mostly because they were young, hot headed, egotists fueled by the excesses that were always available to them. Michael did continue on with the Michael Schenker Group (MSG) and is actually credited with developing the technique for playing the flying V

The 70s was a great time for music. Kids today don’t have a clue. The record shop was the place to hang out. That was the way to find out about awesome bands that didn’t get airplay on the radio. UFO was one of my favorites. Another band to check out is The Outlaws.
